On days when I decide to film a video, it's really hit or miss on if it's gonna be worth it! I would not consider this video super entertaining, but I'm sure a few of you guys might appreciate it! I try to trim it down, but still get the meat of the day. It's also hard when the wind picks up. Unfortunately, thats about the soundtrack to my life during this time of year. Lots and lots and LOTS of wind. I am getting a new camera in the coming weeks and I think the audio will be much better! Excited about that.
Drop a comment below if you have an idea for a video or would like me to expand on something!
As always guys, appreciate y'all! Be Blessed in this New Year

A day in the life of a rancher, featuring morning chores, livestock management, and infrastructure repairs. The narrator documents moving cows to new pastures, fixing a damaged fence line, and installing new gates before preparing for a Christmas trip.
Good morning guys.
I'm just making a little breakfast here before I head down to the ranch for the day.
I've got some homemade butter.
Farm fresh eggs.
We've got a special guest this morning.
Claire's up out of bed.
Anyways, today I know we've got some cows to move.
We've got some corn stalks and we're moving them pastures.
Not very far, it's just like right across the road.
It shouldn't take very long.
But we have to move their water and everything so that might be a little task.
And yeah.
Anyways guys, we're just going to eat some breakfast real quick.
And we'll see where the day goes.
See what all we've got going on.
We'll see you all in a sec.
It's not even that cold out this morning.
But cold enough to frost the windshields I guess.
Gotta get that defroster cranking.
Oh my gosh.
Look at these dogs.
What do you guys want?
Huh?
Oh my gosh.
Look at that beautiful sunrise.
Woo.
Okay.
Let's go feed these freaking feral cats real quick.
Gotta feed them all separate.
Alright.
Lazy.
Here you go.
More work than I ever wanted to put in for cats.
But that's what you get when your wife's a bad assistant.
You do things the right way I guess.
You want to go inside don't you?
I don't want to go snuggle.
Okay.
So, oh shoot.
I left my riding boots out on the side of the site all night.
Totally forgot that I'm riding today.
So, I'm going to have cold feet.
Woo.
It's alright.
Alright guys.
Ready for the day.
I love this time of day when the sun's just coming up and brightening up the...
I guess you can't really see out that window because of the...
It's beautiful.
The frost is melting off.
The sun's just peaking up.
It's great.
Also, shout out to Turtle Box.
This is not sponsored, but I absolutely love this Turtle Box.
It's their little magnetic handheld one.
It's super handy.
Battery life lasts a while.
I love this thing.
So, y'all go check out Turtle Box if you're needing a good gift for somebody.
Alright guys.
Here we are down at the barn.
Looks like Jim's starting the tractors.
Maybe he did.
Well, I forgot to plug the tractor in last night and it wasn't starting this morning.
So, Jim saved my butt and went and got a battery charger and put it on it.
So, gosh.
I'm usually really good about plugging these tractors in.
So, that stupid mistake.
Oh well.
Not starting off the morning the greatest, I guess.
Lots of day left to be had.
Let's go ahead and feed these girls.
It is a frosty one out this morning.
Out of the fence.
We'll have to just finish feeding this wagon.
Then we'll just come get her side-by-side and get her back in with the others.
Alright guys.
We just finished feeding and reloading the mixer wagon.
Now, we're going to park these tractors and go catch horses and saddle up.
Get ready to go.
Also, just had to run and put this heifer back in.
So, we just got that taken care of.
Now, we're good to go saddle horses.
Alright.
So, let's go catch these boys.
They have not been rode in a couple weeks probably.
We just haven't had a lot of cow work to do at all.
Everything has been out on pasture.
These boys are going to be feeling pretty crispy I'll bet.
Hey Scooter.
Good boy.
What the hell did you just eat?
That's a stick.
Your knucklehead.
There you go.
Good deal.
Let's go boys.
It doesn't matter how you come.
Scooter.
Good old boy.
Let's grab you.
Handsome.
You've been in the lift cab haven't you?
Good boy Scooter.
Had a big wind storm come through.
Blew a bunch of dust and the tractor blew.
I'm actually going to ride in Claire's saddle today.
I actually just ordered a new saddle.
And I got it in a 15 inch instead of a 16 inch.
Which I've never had a 15 inch saddle before.
And Claire's is.
So, I wanted to ride in it today and just make sure that's the size I want.
There we go.
You just hang out right there buddy.
Ready to go.
Drain this drinker so we can move it where we're moving these cows to.
So we've got to let it drain for a while.
So this drinker here is pretty slick.
You just back up with your bale bed and it hooks up to it.
And when it's empty you can lift it right onto the back of your pickup.
Just letting it drain out.
Yeah, it's pretty dang slick though.
How'd you get to come along?
Hurtin' anything here?
Is that okay for your arms?
I don't know.
I think so.
Alright buddy.
Alright, I'll just head up this way.
Oh boy, here we go.
Buddy Sour from Ditch.
Come on Scooter.
These guys have been butt buddies for weeks now.
So we're pretty sure all the cows are over there in the corner.
But we're just going to ride to the north here.
And make sure there aren't any lingering.
So I just, I actually just ordered a new saddle from Luke Lane.
Really excited to get it.
But yeah, I'm thinking that's 15 inch saddles.
Just about the right size for me.
That also about blew out.
So they're not going to be out here pasturing much longer.
Maybe it'll go all the way around.
I picked that bit up a notch or two in this mountain.
So you kind of want to just kind of clear that.
Now we're just heading home and wrapping up some stuff this afternoon.
Got some fencing to do and some gates to hang.
Watch out Scooter.
Okay.
Well, what do you want to do with these guys?
Let's just kick them in here again.
I think just let them out.
I can take them out.
Sure, I'll go get fence and ----.
Yeah, if you want to stick them together.
Well, there we go.
Hold on to the ponies for a bit.
Now we're going to go grab some fence and stuff.
And go pick some fence I got tore down the other night.
So we're just going to grab anything we might need.
This morning I guess there was some heifers out.
And a whole stretch of fence tore down.
Guessing that should be enough.
So we're going to go get some wire.
Stretchers.
Everything we need.
Okay.
We got stretchers.
We'll grab a post board.
We got wire, posts, post pounder, post puller.
We need staples.
There we go.
That should be good.
Pounder, puller, stretcher, wire, clips, posts, staples.
And pliers.
And gloves.
And of course we got the speaker.
Anyways guys, we're going to get this stretch of fence up.
And then I'll see if I can get us hanging the gates on video.
But I'm not sure.
All the way to here.
I'm going to just re-grab.
I honestly don't even need this splice.
Okay.
All the way to the corner.
Let's get the boogie in.
Really not that bad at all.
Yeah, something.
They were thinking maybe a mountain lion or something came and spooked them.
And pushed them all through that gate fence.
Because it was fast.
Snapped all three wires.
Broke off several posts for like a, you know, 75 foot section.
That's crazy.
But, anyways.
We're going to head back.
Unload all of it.
We'll see about hanging some gates.
Alright, so here are the gates we're hanging.
We got one.
Two.
Three.
So now we just got to prep it up.
Got our hinges here.
And weld them up.
Here's the old hinges.
Right here.
Second gate's getting hung.
Let's get steering.
Jim's welding it up.
So how my boss has done these.
Is he's made these little brackets.
And then secured two to the post.
And one to the gate.
Don't mind that.
And it makes a pretty nice hinge.
The gate doesn't sag.
They worked out pretty good so far.
And then these latches are super handy to get horseback.
Just cut a little hole in there.
Latches shut.
Alright, gang.
We're done with that project for the day.
Went pretty good.
So, there we go.
On to the next thing.
It's about, what time is it?
Three o'clock.
We'll see what else we got going on today.
Claire and I are going back to my folks for Christmas.
So we still got to pack and get everything ready.
And we'll probably have to just leave tomorrow morning.
Instead of tonight.
But, what do you do?
So, there we go.
Well guys, 3.20 and we are done for the day.
We put away all of our tools.
And I got cut loose.
So, we're going to head on up to the house.
Let's go see the pups.
Ka-ching, ka-ching, ka-ching.
My spurs broke.
You're right there.
Little piece of leather.
Lusted.
Anyways.
Who the heck are these guys?
Sit.
Stay.
Eh.
Sit.
Okay.
What are you guys doing?
Y'all are crazy.
Good dogs.
Good boy, Dish.
Anyways, guys.
That is the video.
Nothing crazy.
Honestly, short day.
Horseback.
Short day in general.
Can't complain about that.
And I know by the time this video will be posted, it'll already be Christmas.
