In a few weeks, Arizonans can learn a lot more about Navajo culture,
surrounded by the beauty of the petrified National Forest.
We wanted to find out more.
A beautiful place you may never have heard of.
Longest continuously operating trading post in the Southwest.
This is the Hubble Trading Post,
a place where people have come together for a long time in Ganado, Arizona.
Community, supporting artists, supporting community members, tribal members.
Nonprofit Western National Parks is bringing the Hubble Trading Post
to the Petrified Forest National Park the weekend of August 1st for a special event.
To be able to experience that level of cultural sharing
with somebody who has been steeped in the culture, is a member of the tribe,
comes from a long descendancy of Navajo artists himself.
It's so special.
I've been able to attend many of these events and no talk is the same.
This is from her own flock of 32 heads of sheep.
We want to help to sustain and to build awareness and build connections
to the cultures and the peoples who have lived here
and still live here for generations and for many generations to come.
Julie Thompson says often,
Arizonans miss what's already right here in our state.
Now's the time to change that.
Make it your opportunity to start getting to know your backyard a little bit better.
It's a four-hour drive from Phoenix, you know, and then make a weekend of it.
