AI GeneratedThe Murata Lagoon in Pasco County is the largest man-made lagoon in the U.S., designed by Metro Development Group to bring a Caribbean-style coastal living experience inland. Spanning over 15 acres with crystal clear water and white sand, it offers a wide array of water-based recreation and social activities for both residents and the surrounding community.
Today's drone zone. We're taking you up and above the Murata Lagoon in San Antonio. That's right,
as FOX 13 photojournalist Albert Gamboa shows us, this lagoon features crystal clear water,
white sand beaches, an obstacle course, and that's not all. The vision at Metro was to bring
inland coastal living. We want that to be accessible to any and everyone. No longer do
you have to live on the water at a very premium price. You can actually live in a community
and enjoy inland coastal living. My name is Lisa Gibbings with Metro Development Group and we're
here at the Murata Lagoon. Murata Lagoon is so special and unique in that it is the largest
lagoon in the U.S. It allows anyone in the community in the surrounding areas to come
and enjoy a beautiful day on the water. You don't have to go all the way to the beach anymore. Right
in the heart of Pasco County you can enjoy water activities. Metro opened the first lagoon ever in
the U.S. and that was at Epperson, which is the sister property to Murata. And then we wanted to
go bigger and better, as Metro always does, so we decided to open Murata, which is the largest,
and it's over 15 acres. We have about 33 million gallons of water here behind me and about 17
million gallons of sand as well. The blue water really does bring you to that Caribbean beachy
feel and that was the vision when we were developing this beautiful lagoon. We have a
water slide that towers about 19 feet tall that the kids and even adults can enjoy. This one's
going to have the curves and the winding, so a little bit of a unique and different experience.
We have a wonderful obstacle course. It's available for both kids and adults and you can
get a splash pass so that you can enjoy the activities of the obstacle course and you are
guided to that area with a guide every few minutes or so and we invite you to come out and swim out
safely to the obstacle course. So anyone in the community can come out and enjoy a day here and
that includes renting paddleboards and kayaks. We really want you to get out on the water,
live that healthy, beautiful lifestyle, outdoorsy, active lifestyle, and so we've given a little bit
of everything. The swim-up bar is a popular one. Of course, it makes you feel like you can escape
from Florida and you're in that island resort where you can swim up and grab your favorite
cocktail without even having to get out of the water, so this is definitely one that our adults
love. We have a beautiful VIP section called Cabana Cove so anyone from the community can come and rent
a VIP day and a VIP experience where you can get your cabana and your lounge chairs. We also have
something unique and cool called Aquabanas and those are actually floating cabanas on the water
so you want to get those quick because those rent out pretty quickly. If you're not interested in
the water activities, year-round we have about 300 plus events that take place at the Murata Hub
area and that could be one of many dry activities. It could be anything from bartending classes to
cigar rolling to yoga on the lawn and everything in between. The hub has become such a social place
and it truly is a hub for the community. We hear so many great stories from residents or community
members that meet their best friends or, you know, the kids are able to make friends and
really it's that social aspect. The lagoon goes above and beyond just the water activities and
amenities but it's being able to provide that social hub for the community is really what we
take joy and pride in.
