Bam, Bill, Alex, and Mike on the airwaves, giving what you like.
Topics on fleek.
I don't know why, but you can see them.
Bougie water causing workplace injuries here on Bam.
But wait, there it is.
Oh my goodness.
Look at that.
There we go.
So I have a question.
Yes.
Nicole Mihalik, 92.5 WXTU and Boston and all the stations.
I'm trying.
She's taking over the world.
I'm here.
I've missed you two desperately.
Missed you, Nick.
Glad you could make it, man.
Thank you.
Our birthday's coming up.
Birthday season for the Leos.
Let's go.
We have the same birthday, July 29.
It's the only day that counts.
So I have two questions.
Yes.
I'm asking you.
I mean, I have lots of questions, but the two we're starting with.
Whenever we have somebody who calls out, one of us gets sick,
one of us can't come in.
Mike and I are generally texting back and forth
at like 6 o'clock in the morning.
Yeah.
And we sit back and we're like, oh, we definitely
should reach out to Nick.
But it's 6 o'clock in the morning.
You should absolutely reach out to me at 6 AM.
Absolutely.
Well, you know, part of it is too is like,
I'd hate for you to feel like, why are they always
calling me last minute?
Because we always calling you last minute.
But I understand how it's a business.
I know it's a business, but.
I totally understand that.
And I know that you have, listen, I am a little selfish.
I'd love to be here all the time,
but I understand you have to spread the wealth.
My friend Tyrone was on, love Ty, Roxy, Romeo.
Like, I love that, you know what I mean?
It's a network.
Everybody was talking about each other.
Yeah, which I love.
But so please, always feel free to reach out to me at 6 AM.
I always want to ask, so I'm glad I did.
And I always say to Mike, all right, well,
we can't call her today, but I'll ask her later today
if it's OK for future reference, and then I never do.
And it worked out.
I'm so glad.
So that's one of your days.
I called at like 9 o'clock, 9 o'clock.
Which is worse.
Because then you don't have any time to get here.
Well, I live close, so that helps too.
Balancing out.
So that's one.
Now we know that we can call you and get you on the show.
JP, can you pull that graphic back up
so that we can see what we were just talking about?
Now, I went pictures from your Instagram page,
but I went NIK, but your name is Nicole,
but your handle is Nicole is Nick NIK.
So I wasn't sure if I go NIK or NIC.
Well, because, so let's go all the way back
when I was Nick the Web Chick on Q102.
And Nick, NIK, Chick, NICK, we did like the K.
It just worked good.
It looked good.
But then when I went to XTU, obviously no one
says web anymore, right?
And Chick was kind of weird.
And so I just started going by Nicole.
And then to make it even more confusing,
I used to do mornings on Mix 106,
which doesn't exist anymore.
It's now Roomba.
And so it's a lot.
And so I just kept Nicole as Nick
as people sometimes know me as Nick
or Nick the Web Chick or Nicole.
And I mean, I could go Nicole Mahalik,
but then no one ever knows how to pronounce my last name.
No one should know what that is.
Right, exactly.
No one ever knows how to pronounce my last name.
It's deep, silent, like, it's a mess.
I've been messing that one up
since she told it to me the first time.
She's like, how do I say this?
I know.
You should see him trying to give security your name
before we...
I said, do you see, I said, I'll be down with it.
Yo, go tell him this person's coming.
We said Harvard down.
He's the smartest person in the room.
It says Nick, but Nicole, it has to mean the same thing.
And I was in the green room.
I'm like, I'm over here.
Like I heard her talk about security, yeah.
All right, so all of that,
we are really happy that you're here.
Always have a good time.
Appreciate you being here.
And happy belated birthday to you as well.
Thank you very much.
And you guys both be celebrating the birthday
in like a week.
That's right, let's go.
Oh, by the way, today's my daughter's birthday.
Yo, howdy, happy birthday.
My kids came through like two days before me
and tried to steal my thunder.
That's a very Leo thing to say.
One on the 22nd, one on the 26th.
Wow.
Like, yo, like, what are y'all doing, man?
This is my time.
Yeah.
This is my time.
Did you have a combined birthdays?
We used to until I got old enough to be like,
yo, we want to party with your friends in the woods.
This is my time.
They're like, we want our own cakes.
Yeah, and we want our own presents.
Wow, you literally created these people
and now you're competing for the birthday.
Every year.
I don't blame them.
It's a competition.
Well, happy birthday, happy birthday,
happy birthday to your daughter,
happy birthday to everybody who's celebrating the birthday.
Absolutely.
Nothing but love.
All right, our question of the day.
So I can't show this video
for all kinds of crazy licensing reasons,
but there was a Cubs game.
Yes.
Their national anthem was playing.
There was a veteran who was standing behind a young person
who was not standing for the national anthem.
JP, I created, AI created a graphic
so you can follow along with me
as we go ahead and try to explain this.
It's the AI visual version of what was happening.
We'll get that up on the screen in a second.
So he wouldn't stand up for the national anthem.
There you go.
It wasn't that bad.
I've seen the video.
AI didn't put the guy behind him.
I mean.
Right, right.
It was completely AI.
It looked like some old mad man
was about to beat up some kid.
Get up.
Hit the face wall.
All right.
So he was behind him.
AI takes some creative liberties.
It sure does.
So he was behind him.
He didn't stand up.
And so he slapped the kid in the back of his head.
The kid kind of turned around like, what's up?
But he stood up.
He then got kind of got into it.
I know, right?
And it has gone viral with the debate about,
was that appropriate?
Was the kid wrong?
Just for some context, this was a veteran.
They did serve in Vietnam.
They've since done some interviews
and said that they lost friends during war.
So it means a whole lot to them.
But they also apologized and said,
I should not have put my hands on him.
Was he right to step up and address it?
He was not right for slapping the kid in the head.
But I understand where his energy came from.
You know what I'm saying?
It's like, look, man, that generation,
they gave up a lot.
Man, I mean, we had a lot of veterans.
You know what I'm saying?
We've had plenty of wars.
We in one now.
We had plenty of wars since Nam.
And I think it's important for us as Americans
to recognize what these people have sacrificed for us
to give us the freedom to be like,
I'm just gonna sit here.
I'm not getting up.
You know what I mean?
But knowing that you have that freedom,
show respect for that and say, you know what?
I am going to get up because they fought
to give me the right to be like,
I'm just gonna sit here and mind my business.
So all parties in this are wrong?
I mean, I think the reason you fight
is because you get the freedom to sit.
And I think that, you know, I walk by,
when I leave here, just in general,
you walk by Independence Hall, right?
And you see the First Amendment.
And I think that it's like, if you wanna sit,
the beauty of America is that we live in a free country.
And I get it.
My two grandfathers were veterans.
I have so much respect for veterans
and everything that they do.
But I still think that like,
why would you ever put your hands on somebody?
Even if you don't agree, like he wasn't doing,
he was just sitting there.
And if he wants to sit, I think the beauty of America
is that you're allowed to sit.
Well, and it was interesting because it,
and the reason it kind of went so viral
and sparked this debate is exactly for that reason.
Because you were fighting for the freedoms
you're now slapping somebody in the head to not have.
But from my perspective is, is yes,
I respect the fact that you fought
for the, to give me that freedom.
And to show you respect for what you did for me,
I will stand.
You know, because you gave me the right
to stick my middle finger up at the government
if I choose to.
And not have to worry about going to jail for that.
But that's not what I, exactly.
But you fought, so I have that right.
And I appreciate that.
And out of respect for that, then you're right.
I should stand up and show my appreciation
for the sacrifice that was made for that.
A lot of people questioned it because
if that young person had responded in kind,
and then all of a sudden,
you got a fight going on in there.
If he turns around and swings on you,
because you just unprovoked hit him
in the back of his head, now what?
Yeah, and I think the bigger conversation is,
one, the fact that like the younger kid
definitely had more emotional intelligence and restraint.
But I think the bigger conversation is just like
the fact of why he thought it was okay to do that.
And like the inner anger.
Like there's so much,
we could do an entire four hour show on it.
You know what I mean?
And so, I get it.
So both can be wrong.
Yeah, both can be wrong.
And yeah.
And both can be right.
They're both right.
And show that level of respect.
Quick question, we put it up there.
Frank the Barber on the question of the day says,
the veteran has no right putting his hands on anyone.
It's the choice of the person if they want to stand or not.
Someone else follows up.
LC3 says it was not justified at all.
Would the young man have been justified
in slapping people for standing for the Pledge of Allegiance
if they disagree?
People are ridiculous and feeling like
they can do whatever they want.
I wonder if the dude said something to him
before he hit him in the back.
So, yes, he did say something to him.
So context, again, there's follow up, right?
So the veteran apparently did an exclusive interview
with one of these entertainment shows.
So he did say something to the young man beforehand,
asking him to stand up.
The man still decided not to.
Afterwards, apparently, at least according
to the veteran's interview, they had a further discussion.
The young person ended up buying him a beer.
See what I'm saying?
Kind of found some middle ground.
He got it.
He didn't have to hit him.
I didn't have to hit him.
If somebody hit me, I mean, I don't know.
And I'm a lover, not a fighter.
But that would have sent me the hitting.
The hitting, I don't like violence.
That generation is a different generation.
But why do we always get excuses?
And it's not an excuse.
It's just who they are.
Kind of an excuse.
It's just who they are.
It's an excuse for just who they are.
It's like, yo, man, I went out here in Fort
and had people die for this song.
Man, get up, idiot.
Like, let's go.
Respect me, even though I'm not going to respect you.
Like, yeah, yeah, yeah, respect is all relative.
It's kind of what it is.
It's all relative.
You stop respecting me when you ain't get up for the song.
All right.
We'll take a quick break.
So there was a leak.
Are you on LeBron Watch?
No.
Oh, I'm on it.
You don't care?
Everybody's on LeBron.
I don't care where this dude goes.
Let's just get to this thing.
I care if it's Philly.
Yeah, like, it would be great if he came to Philly.
If he goes anyplace else, I never want to do it.
I didn't care anyway.
Right, exactly.
But if he comes here, you're on LeBron Watch.
Oh, I'm totally on LeBron Watch.
I'm on LeBron Watch.
I'm not stopping my day to find out where this guy's going.
I mean, if there's an announcement, I will.
But there was a leak.
We're going to come back and say, do you believe this leak?
Because Miami leaked some information,
and it has gone viral.
We'll see what you think.
Coming back in just a second.
Let's take a break.
It's Bam.
I'm Bill.
This is Nicole.
This is Mike.
Appreciate you watching.
And we will be right back in just a second.
It's a leak, but somebody already
lost their job over this leak.
We'll see.
Alex and Mike, at a wake suite on Fox.
You see it.
Bill, Nick, Mike here on Bam.
Nicole Mihalik, 92.5 WXTU.
Every day at?
2 to 7.
Take a check.
That's a long shift.
Yes, a lot of talking.
Oh, wow.
A lot of music.
I used to do radio.
Those four hours seemed like a long time.
Five hours, that's a shift.
Yeah, it is.
OK.
A lot of country music.
What's hot in country music right now?
Oh, Ella Langley is the hottest thing right now.
Yeah, she actually, I'm surprised you guys
didn't talk about this.
This is a big deal.
But like.
That's because we don't know.
You first.
Right, you're here.
Bill just ain't got enough time.
I was like, who?
Yeah, so Ella Langley, her album Dandelion,
she has a song, She Was in Texas.
I'm from Texas, I can tell.
Yeah, you can sing the whole song.
OK, well, she just, this week, she's,
it's week 14 on the Billboard Hot 100.
And now she's tied with Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston.
And it's causing a lot of controversy.
What's her name?
Ella Langley.
My daughter probably knows.
Yeah, Ella Langley.
Yeah, get her on the show.
And she's actually going to be.
So Morgan Wallen is here next week at the link.
He's here the 31st and the 1st.
And she's there on Saturday night with him.
But she's like massive, massive right now
and is on her own tour.
And then she's doing some Morgan Wallen dates.
So she's going to be in Philly opening for him.
Stop it.
It's August 1st.
I'm going.
Yeah, August 1st.
She can get you past it, you know what I'm saying?
No, we don't even have tickets for the Saturday show.
We only have tickets for the Friday show.
What's Brooks and Dunn?
But yeah, Ella Langley is like the,
I mean, Morgan's still big.
Luke Combs is really big.
But Morgan is the winner right now.
Yeah, yeah.
She's doing it right now.
I'm about to check out.
Yeah, Ella Langley.
Ella Langley.
Yeah, Ella Langley.
Morgan is still big.
But Ella Langley, yeah, I mean, she's breaking records.
And it's been a huge controversy because people
are like, how are you going to break Whitney and Mariah?
Like this.
How do you do it?
Like, you just do it.
Yeah.
If you do it, you do it.
You do it, you do it.
There you go.
Put some respect on Ella Langley's name.
I wrote it down so I could put some respect on her name.
Put some respect on Ella.
This isn't her first single, is it?
Or first album?
No.
She's been around for a minute.
Well, it's the second.
She's young.
Yeah, second album.
But it's a phenomenal album.
Now, real talk.
Are you really surprised that we haven't talked
about Ella Langley on the show?
Well, I thought you would.
You talked about hot topics.
And it's been a hot topic that a lot of people are pissed
that, like, she's about, she could break Mariah and Whitney.
Why?
What do you matter about?
Well, because they're like, these are legends.
And put, you know.
But they did it.
It's not like they're manipulating the system.
They belong together.
And I will always love you.
So it's these massive, massive songs.
So people are like, how?
I don't really care if I will love you in the first place.
And that's technically a country song
because Dolly Parton wrote it.
Right.
So there you go.
That part, you know what I mean?
Yeah.
There you go.
Taking over.
Didn't Drake, like, break a Michael Jackson joint?
Probably.
And he's corny.
Right.
It's true.
At least you know.
It kind of minimizes the statistics.
Right, that's what I'm saying.
And has less respect on it when Drake's setting the record.
I think it's so much easier for them
to do it now compared to when Whitney and Mike
and when, you know, those guys did it.
Well, see, I actually think it's harder
because there's so much more music and artists now.
That's true.
You know what I mean?
Because when you think about it, it's not even
a one-hit wonder anymore.
With, like, TikTok, it's like a six-week wonder.
So to have a massive hit that has staying power,
I actually think it's harder now.
And there's less superstars under the age of 30.
Like, I'll do it with, like, interns and stuff.
I'll be like, name five, A-list.
And they'll go, Brad Pitt?
I'm like, he's 61.
Like, name an A-lister that everybody knows.
Who's under 30.
That's under 30.
It's very hard because social media's changed everything.
Under 30.
The one who was just in Spider-Man.
Tom Holland.
That guy.
I don't know.
And his wife.
And Zendaya.
Is she under 30?
Yeah.
She's under 30, right?
I think he might have been just Zendaya.
All right, we got two.
Yeah.
And who was the kid who did Bob Dylan?
Is he a superstar?
Who?
Timothee Chalamet.
Timothee Chalamet?
He's an A-lister, right?
Yeah.
Is he under 30?
Right, but, like, if they walk.
You got to be close.
You have to think of, like, I always use, like,
the Target on City Ave as my blueprint.
Like, if you walk into the Target on City Ave,
will everybody that's there know who they are?
No, I wouldn't know Timothee Chalamet
if you sat next to me.
I would.
Because I'm all up on, like, pop culture.
OK.
I wouldn't know who her dad is because she's kind of nice
looking.
Oh, she's gorgeous.
Really talented.
Very talented.
So Ella Langley has almost 5 million followers.
We just looked her up.
So respect on her name.
There was a leak.
Yes.
We're on LeBron Watch.
So there was, up on the YouTube page for the Miami Heat.
Of the YouTube?
Is that what I said?
No.
See who we are?
The YouTube page of the Miami Heat, I said.
Yeah, we did that.
It was on the internet.
Right, on the Facebook.
So that picture on the screen right there,
that popped up on the Miami Heat YouTube page.
It was LeBron James' introductory press conference.
It was scheduled for July 27.
That showed up.
It was relatively quickly deleted because people saw it
and immediately started screen grabbing.
Oh, here it is.
Here's the big announcement.
Now, the Miami Heat have said it was a mistake.
It was, you know, blame the intern.
Somebody did it.
It doesn't mean anything.
Blame the intern.
Doesn't mean anything.
Are we buying it?
Do you think that this was a hint?
Or is this just an intern being a little overzealous?
Or was it a plan to troll all of us?
I think it could have been either.
I think it could have been a plan to troll.
I also could have think,
because you think about working in news,
how many obituaries are already pre-written?
So maybe they just like created the graphic just in case.
I have a hard time believing as somebody
who works in entertainment and works in news
that they would have that.
I mean, the 27th is five days away.
It was yesterday, so it was more than six days away.
That takes literally 30 seconds to create, to build.
So I have a very hard time believing
they would build it six days in advance.
And then to put it up and schedule it.
Like, to me, it just seems that maybe they wanted to do it
to be funny, to cause us all talking about it.
I don't know.
I have a hard time believing it's real.
Or an intern thought it'd be funny to do it.
Good point.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, I'm a college student.
Watch this, y'all.
I'm gonna make this graphic and throw it up there
and watch what happens.
So interestingly enough,
our director of original programming
brought it to my attention as on my way down here
that there, as of today, was a job posting
with the Miami Heat for a new web person.
Wow.
To go ahead and do it.
Now, coincidence?
I don't know. Perhaps.
Maybe it was like a way to bring attention
that you could apply for the job.
Right. I don't know.
Maybe.
If he goes back to Miami, that is lame.
So I don't buy it.
I don't think he's going back to Miami.
I don't buy it because there's so many...
Like, if he's been this secretive about it
and they post it,
that's much more likely to irritate him
than it is to be something that you celebrate.
So that could be the reason somebody goes,
yo, this rinky-dink organization,
I'm not going to do that.
I think it's more likely that they're trolling.
But if they intentionally were trolling,
then I think that that reinforces the fact
that he's not coming there.
Now you're just messing with him out there publicly.
Like, let's get him hyped.
See how I spin this to make it about the Sixers?
We got a better chance now.
I mean, I want him to come here so bad
because I love greatness.
I love bigs.
I want Philly to be on the map.
But to me, it made more sense from the very beginning
that he was going to go back to Cleveland.
I just thought that was like a no-brainer,
but I don't know.
End his career where he started it.
End his career at home.
Yeah.
Like, bookend it, you know?
I don't think the team is that good.
They played well this year.
Do you really want to go and play with James Harden?
No disrespect, but James Harden is,
I mean, I guess that's kind of disrespectful.
But James Harden, he's a ball dominant,
I need the ball in my hands to control the game.
And then there's another player in Donovan Mitchell
who takes 30 shots a game.
You're going to go there,
and what they do have in Cleveland
is power forwards and LeBron's position.
So you're just going to go home
and have kind of your last hurrah because it's at home?
And you already left home twice.
Yeah, I'm coming back.
Third time's the charm.
It's like you moved out twice.
Everybody's got to go back home eventually, man.
No, they don't.
That's true.
There's a whole lot of people who leave.
It'll be interesting.
I think it'd be hilarious, though,
if he goes somewhere crazy like the Pelicans.
You know what I mean?
He just messing with people.
Right, just went way off the map.
LeBron's pulling the league.
I've decided to take my skills to Memphis.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Go ahead and do that.
I think that would be hilarious.
So I don't know, I guess we'll wait and see.
But I'm on LeBron watch, I love it.
We shall see.
You know what I did today as we go to break,
and I know you're a fan of this.
You might actually be, too.
Here we go.
You know I don't like much.
I ordered a pair of Jalen Brown's sneakers.
I love it, yeah.
From his independent sneaker company.
I was watching a documentary on his story.
What do they look like?
We got a picture of them?
I'm obsessed with them.
We can put them up when we come back from the break.
I wanna see what they look like when we come back.
Sometimes they put out these independent sneakers.
I mean, not that good.
They're all right.
We'll show you in a second.
Coming right back.
We also have a plan for the singles out there
who are looking to find love at the grocery store.
Let's go.
You got it.
Stay tuned.
Alex and Mike, airwaves,
giving what you like, topics on fleek.
Got a whole conversation going on about Jalen Brown
as we sit back and go through this whole discussion.
I had another topic,
but we're having much of a Jalen Brown discussion
going back and forth.
Because the knock on this guy,
and he's a sixer now, so he's ours.
Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's amazing to me how they continue to criticize him
and all they've got is he's too smart.
Like he has too many interests.
He wants to empower people.
Bring it on to the city.
Went to NASA camp.
Bring all of it.
Let's go.
Bring all that to fill.
Because you know who doesn't do it here?
Bryce Harper.
Right.
Okay.
All right.
I'd rather have him come here
and just bring his intelligence and not play ball.
You know what I'm saying?
Like just come and bring all that good energy
and all that intelligence.
This dude was offered a multimillion dollar sneaker deal.
He did not take that deal
because they had a clause in it
that said that they could cut the deal
if he spoke his mind and they didn't agree with what he said.
I'm good.
So he turned it down.
Started his own sneaker company.
Actually it's an apparel company called 741 Performance.
Here's the sneak.
So that's the pink and the white versions of those.
The pink proton or what have you.
I ordered the ones on the top.
The black moon.
Okay, cool.
Or the ones that we got.
They also have all kinds of clothing brand,
like the track suits and all of these things.
And he keeps the kids versions below $70.
Oh, cool.
That's cool.
You can get the adult versions down under 200.
Yeah.
Well, only the black ones are 200.
All the rest of them are like 150 and down.
Well, I like that he did
because he's so plugged into like space and NASA on science.
He like leaned into that, which I like.
I thought that was pretty cool.
We'll see what it do.
It's pretty crazy
when you're trying to discredit somebody
and the best you've got is that they are too smart.
They're too strong.
They're too culturally significant.
He starts too many nonprofits to empower community.
Get that guy out of here.
I know.
And he averages 30.
Right.
And is one of the best defenders in the league.
I know.
And he didn't hire an agent.
Like the whole, like the establishment.
And the people love him.
Is upset with him.
And the people love him.
Oh yeah.
I mean, I'm on the radio in Boston.
They were devastated.
You know what I mean?
That he was leaving.
There was nothing positive that was being said.
Like people were like, I can't believe this.
Did you see the video of the little kid crying?
Yeah.
He met him.
Did you see him?
He met him.
When you make a bad decision
and people aren't on board with it.
Now the tactic is try to destroy somebody's character.
It ain't gonna work.
Yeah.
And that's just, it's messed up.
You're right.
Because he went right to the community.
Right.
And so now the community is like,
what you're saying about him?
I know that guy.
Yeah.
Like he paid for my college.
And he was already in the community.
Yeah.
So it was too late.
Like y'all couldn't do it now.
He was already touching the people.
And he won a championship.
That's the biggest conversation.
And was the MVP.
Yeah.
All right.
Welcome to Philly.
Like we're happy to have you here in Philly.
I'll bring them on when I get my sneakers.
I'm waiting for the sixth version of them joints

He's got to do some blue ones.
You know, the sixes version.
