weight rooms and wandering eyes. There's a new lust-free men-only gym in Oklahoma
City, caring specifically to Christian men looking to avoid temptation. Chris
Hembrecht owns Proverbs 2717. He shared why he believes this space is so
necessary. In a nutshell, one of the number one places affairs and infidelity
occur, cheating is the gym. Byproduct of someone who had an affair in my previous
marriage. Doesn't work out well for you fellas, don't do it. So what did God do?
He took what the devil meant for evil, turned it into good. Put it on my heart to
start this men's fitness and ministry center where there are no
distractions. There's no temptations of women walk around fellas so. And our
panelists are standing by to share their thoughts on this. Joining us now,
podcast hosts The Biggest and trainers First Class and Royce Thomas. So Royce,
first of all, what do you think about this idea, lust-free gyms? Well in my
opinion, I agree with it. I see it from various factors. Of course I train in
some of the most professional gyms in the city, but I'm also a Christian man.
And so I do believe that sometimes you have to have a level of accountability
for yourself. And I put yourself in certain situations where you don't have
to act specific ways. And if it's keeping you safe and ultimately keeping women
safe, then I agree with it. Also iron sharpens iron from a fitness perspective.
And sometimes men being around other men and being challenged more in their
workouts and things of that nature. So I just see it from multiple angles and I
actually don't see a problem with it at all. All right, first class, let's see
from you. I mean, I just feel like you got to have again accountability is one
thing, but just having self-control and not having that mindset because I feel
like if you're going to the gym, that's a personal thing. You woke up and you
feel or whatever you may be, you're going on a personal journey and women
or a hating guy in the gym shouldn't decide what you got going on. It
shouldn't make you go to an all guy gym because of your thoughts. I feel like
this is just taking it too far with me. You know what I mean? That's just how I
feel. All right, the biggest, let me speak on it. I said, so I feel like,
man, they, they is like, like you said, they're taking a bit too far. I agree
with both of these guys, but in different ways, you know what I'm saying?
As a Christian man myself, you know, I respect women. I go to my gym and I
focus. I understand there's going to be some temptations, scrunch, butch pants
and the breast pushed up and all that. I understand, but it's all about your
goal and what you came there to do. It's like I'm three years sober. I still
didn't go to the club. They pass an alcohol in front of me. I just don't
indulge, don't indulge, handle your business, look at yourself, have your
headphones in, do your workout and go home. You shouldn't be tempted that
much the way it got to be all men, no women, right? And Royce, really quick.
What do you think about first class saying it's about self control and
being able to control yourself and focus on what you are there for? And I 100%
agree with that. Um, but everybody is different in their journey. He has
self control. He can put on his headphones, like you said, and not pay
attention to her surroundings. And that's great for him. But there are
certain guys that may not have that self control. I mean, it does say
biblically, uh, and in Matthew five, I think 29 and 30 that if your eye
causes you to sin and gouged eye out, if your hand causes you to sin, then
shot the hand off. And rather you put yourself in that position, eliminate a
gym where a woman might be wearing something specific and causes you to
sin or causes you to might go off and cheat on your wife. I mean, I read the
article and the man said he's opening up a gym for married men to stay
married basically, um, with biblical principles. So if you're bringing
biblical principles into the situation, he's right. Self control me. I can put
on my headphones and I'll pay attention to anybody around me and going about my
business. But not everybody is as gifted and as strong as we are. All
right. And in first class, you were about to say, I just look at it like,
all right, if you're going to a gym and again, you went there on a personal
journey, the woman that's keeping you around, that's not a personal journey.
You have a goal that's not necessarily about you. And I mean, I feel like
if men keep everything about them when it's because health is wealth,
especially when we're growing up in this day and age and things that we
might know the other guys might not know. But I don't think that going
straight to just I'm going to be if I'm going to be because I think it's
because the guy got cheated on what he cheated on his wife. That's why he
opened up this gym. I feel like we shouldn't always have to go through
things for us to start doing something out of the norm. You know, man, because
you gotta look at it like, hey, bro, sometimes women are motivation in the
gym. You know what I mean? Like this for real, though, because she might be
living the same way that you
let me get my game. Yeah. So sometimes you'll be getting in the gym. You
shouldn't be worried about that. Anyway, man, I think everybody should take
that and be serious about that journey and pick who you should train with as
well. You know what I mean? Because I don't disagree with what he's saying at
all. I actually agree with a lot. What do you say when you hear it out? And
well, I think it's right. But I just it shouldn't never get that extreme. Yeah,
it should never get. And I understand what Chris is saying and why he created
the gym. But is this also in some instances or in some eyes vilifying the
woman? Yeah, like y'all a distraction. I can't be around. Yeah, I mean, you
need to be able to focus and do what you came here to do. There's women
in the hospital. Not a doctor. Can't have a nurse. Yeah, I can't do this
surgery. It's a woman thinking I'm scrub.
But you're right, though. But I agree. I agree. Like, it's some women that
might look at, like, why even paying that much attention to me? Right, right.
You know what I mean? Like, and we had we actually I've been on the show with
Isaiah and shout out to Kayla G. She would get stairs and things like that.
That make you not want to be around me and in the gym. But when you'd be like,
I don't want to be around women in the gym. It's kind of like, I don't know
about that, brother. That's a little weird. It's real different. All right.
We want to thank you guys for joining us.
