🎬 ABOUT THE PRISONER 🎬
Though once close friends with a bond formed by their struggle against Nazi occupation, the Cardinal (Alec Guinness) has been arrested and, charged with a series of phony crimes, is subjected to intense questioning by the Interrogator (Jack Hawkins). Knowing that the Cardinal won't break under torture or confinement, the Interrogator looks for a crack in his façade that will allow his psyche to be penetrated. Learning why the Cardinal joined the church, he bears down and finally gets the cleric to crack. But instead of the death sentence he was expecting, the Cardinal is forced to accept a much worse fate when he's set free and forced to live with the results of his coerced confession.
