She Won’t Join Group Activities… So I Try To Get Creative 💅🏽 #dementia
In this video, you’ll see me try (once again!) to keep Mama engaged. She’s not into the group activities with other residents at her memory care facility, so I make up little moments just for us.
🎨 Today’s idea? Getting her to paint my nails.
It didn’t go quite as planned — she didn’t understand what was happening this time, and eventually, she just got up and started walking the halls again like she always does. That’s dementia.
Unpredictable. Sometimes sweet. Sometimes heartbreaking. Always real.
Caring for a parent with dementia means learning to pivot constantly. What worked yesterday may not work today. I try anyway — because love makes you try again and again.
