River breach: A warning against sand berm risks and safety measures
Oct 6, 2026
That thing is nuts. Oh, that's it Greg.
What are we getting into today? Today we have a very full creek. Oh my god.
Kind of like the bridge just collapsed. We have a really full creek and a bridge collapsed.
This is the fullest I've seen it in a while and it's just starting to trickle through the berm
There's some sick little waves. It's offshore winds. If this thing blows out as big as I think
it's going to, there's going to be a sick sandbar. Very, very entertaining to boogie and maybe even
skim. I think there might be some corners on it to skim. We do have a lot of friends down here.
We got Brandon. We got Kai and Brandon's son Gavin. We just found a beauty. That's an exotic.
Not really. It's a green, but it's a different kind of green. It's kind of,
that's a special green right there. I like your green hair. Oh, that's from Waco.
They need a bit salt water in it. Okay, the skim is firing right now. It's getting a lot better
as the tide comes up. So we're going to go skim in front of the creek and let it, let it do its
thing. It's going to take a minute.
That thing's nuts. Oh, that's it, Greg. Oh my.
Spray him in the face. John John blowing it.
He lost some Brazilian. Oh my jokes. Oh dude, the wall.
How's it looking? You might have a hard time getting across. Oh, I don't want to get across.
Don't, you're over here. You're locked in. Locked in. Yeah. It's about to get gnarly.
I'm a little concerned for the little dogs. Little guys could just get swept out to sea
right now. So we're going to make sure that this is the safest creek break possible.
You want to stand really far back from the berm. It's going to be a lot of, lot of water moving.
That's just a monster foam ball and they're living in there.
You're so long and the waves moved forward. I don't know. The wave changed. I don't think
I've ever seen that. Short break is going to be so done. My legs are burning. That was the
longest river ride I've ever had. By far. That thing was sick. I don't think I can get to that
one right where Blair is. Watch, you can skim into it on this one. Oh, skim it.
He just like caught the cider into that thing. I thought there's no way he was going to ride
that wave, but then he like fully caught a little cider into it. Kai's skimming, dude.
That was crazy. Biggest one you've ever seen? Oh yeah. Yeah. It's insane. That was a gnarly one.
Oh, he's gone. I have to go get the grom board. Kai's board is going to go so far out to sea.
He's on it. I don't know. The boogie waves out front, surf waves even, might be absolutely
slabbing. Left, right, spinning tubes. I promise you I'll make it out of one today.
Oh, just one, but I'll make it out.
Oh my. We are fried. Fried from the infinite river fun boogie session. We did it all this
morning. We did it all. Kai, you broke a fin box. He was, he went and dropped into such a dry slab
that his fin caught in the sand and broke out of his board. Chris Monroe, I need a new board.
I got a new board on his board. You did it. I got the double wave. And Blair got a video of it.
I have evidence, Andre. We got the double wave. Andre's kind of being a Debbie Downer right now.
How many barrels did you come out of it? Hey, I think Kai, I came out of a barrel.
How many did I come out of, Kai? You saw my good one. Like four. Yeah, I saw it.
Wait, what about, what about the double wave? Don't be nice, Kai. Come on, dude.
What about the double wave? Kai's my guy. Kai's my guy. Yeah, we got a double. Oh, double.
Hey, everybody out there, I'm not his son, by the way.
And he's a boy, he's not a girl. And I'm a boy, not a girl.
I read those comments. I'm a boy, and I'm Kai Thompson. This is Blair Conklin.
I'm not a girl. You're not Kai Conklin?
Boy, not a girl, not Blair's son. Yeah, he's, he's just my little, little prodigy.
Yeah. And, and I don't, I'm not just here on the beach all day.
Just every other day. What happened to this guy?
Yeah, I'm sandy, man. You're sandy, man.
What happened there? I was sitting in the sand and a wave came up and took me out.
You got a sand barrel. That was a, that was a fantastic time. It was fun.
Greg, I have evidence of your barrel. Don't, don't worry, buddy.
Oh, I saw it, too. Can't wait.
He saw it, too. Yeah.
That was a good one. Good day. We got doubles river wave.
What else did you do? That wave got pretty steep, steep.
That river just got way too gnarly for a little bit.
That was a gnarly river. Yeah.
It was almost so much water flowing that it didn't.
Hey, how was my paddle? Oh, that was scary.
You were out in sharklandia out there.
It was, but it was so, it was like brown out there and I couldn't see anything.
Yep. And you probably just looked like a nice little sea otter.
A little snack. I know.
Little snack. It's like, it's like a salmon, salmon color.
Yeah. That, that suit might actually be a shark deterrent.
I think. Yeah, I know.
It's probably so bright. The sharks take one look at that and they're like, oh,
it's a little girl. Just kidding.
