We want to get back to our breaking news in Fox Chase.
A tense, near 12-hour-long standoff
coming to an end about 30 minutes ago.
Philadelphia police say the armed man who
was barricaded on a SEPTA bus is dead.
This is video from another scene. We want to get back out
to our Kelly Rule at the scene in Fox Chase,
which is just wrapping up there. Kelly, what more do you
know about the suspect's death here?
So, Sheba, again, yes, we're just learning from law enforcement
sources that the man that was armed on the SEPTA bus died
from a self-inflicted gunshot wound so
he was just pronounced dead at Abington Hospital I'm going
to step aside so you can see the SEPTA
bus for the first time so we were not able to see
this from our vantage point all day but you can
see it's still parked here and it's still blocked off by police
but otherwise this area is now
opened up to traffic and to foot traffic
for the first time in over 10 hours so this entire area
was shut down today, normally a busy business corridor.
And it was completely quiet as this
barricade went on for hours and hours.
So we know from family members, they identified the man that
was barricaded on the bus as Lonnie Fisher.
And family members also tell us that he is the son
and brother of the two women that were found shot
to death at the home in Cedarbrook. And they
identified those women as Sadie Turner and Gabby Turner.
So Sadie is his mother and Gabby is his
sister. Now, again, according to SEPTA,
this all started early this morning when there were two
passengers on the bus when it got to this Fox Chase loop.
One passenger got off and another
told the bus operator he was not getting off.
So the bus operator then called dispatch. He was able
to get off safely, the bus operator,
and then police responded and declared a barricade just
before 6 a.m. And again, that situation unfolding
about two hours after police say crews responded
to a home on the 8200 block of Williams Avenue for a fire.
And that's where they found two women
shot to death, again, identified by family as Sadie Turner
and Gabby Turner. And family members
at that scene told Fox 29, the armed man on the bus,
Lonnie Fisher, is the adopted son and
biological brother of those two women.
And again, we are learning from law enforcement sources
that he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at Abington Hospital.
We saw an ambulance leaving
the scene here with the police vehicles trailing it.
The barricade is now over and they just still
had this bus blocked off here by SEPTA transit police
as they continue to investigate. Just a
terrible, tragic series of events
and a very long day for law enforcement here, Kelly. I know folks
are wondering about a motive and, you know,
I saw some early reports that perhaps Lonnie had gotten
out of prison recently. Have you been able
to get any confirmation on a motive? What was going on
with him? We got some of that information as well from family.
We have not been able to confirm that
and we did see some information indicating
previous charges against him but we have not
gotten confirmation that that's definitively him
but definitely appears to be a tragic situation
and a domestic situation as they were all family members
but we've not gotten confirmation from
police about what really happened here.
Any ages on the victims, Kelly? I do not have that at this
time. But I know Jenny has been working hard over
at the home and speaking with
family members, and she may have those ages
for us coming up at six o'clock.
Okay. But again, the victims names Sadie and Gabby Turner,
mom and daughter.
All right. Thank you very much, Kelly.
I know you'll continue working your
sources on this one.
