In this video, Jammy teaches you how to make Dragon's Crown Pro Pea Croquettes, just like the kind you make in the camp. What's the tastiest food from Dragon's Crown you wish was real?
What You Need: 3 small potatoes 1 cup green split peas 1 tsp salt, separated, plus more to taste 1 onion, minced 2 garlic cloves, minced 1 TBL ginger, minced 2 TBL olive oil 1 TBL curry powder 3 eggs A few drops green gel color, optional 1 cup flour 2 cup panko Oil for frying
Peel potatoes and quarter them. Place them in a pot with cold water. Bring water to a boil and cook for 20 minutes until soft. Drain and mash in a large bowl. Set aside.
In the same pot, place split peas, cover in water and bring to a boil. Add 1/2 tsp salt. Drop heat to simmer, cover and cook for 20-30 minutes or until peas are soft. Drain. Add to potato mash.
Add olive oil to a non-stick pan. Once hot, add onions and 1/2 tsp salt. Cook on medium-high heat stirring often until onions are golden. Then, add curry powder and stir it in. Remove from the heat and stir in garlic and ginger. Add entire contents of pan to potato and pea mash. Stir, and taste for seasoning. Add more salt if needed.
Whisk egg and add green food color if you like. Stir into the pea mash. Assemble a dredging station: 1 bowl gets 2 beaten eggs, 1 bowl gets flour, and one bowl gets panko. Make small oval croquettes with potato mash. Dip into flour, then egg, then panko. Set aside until ready to fry.
Bring a small pot of oil up to 350 degrees. Slowly dip a croquette into the oil and fry until outer crust is golden, a couple minutes. Place in a plate to drain. Serve warm with dipping sauces like tonkatsu or barbecue sauce.
Searching for a magical crown sure gives me the munchies!
Let's hit the camp and make some pea croquettes!
First, grab some potatoes. I like these small yellow Yukon golds,
but you can totally use russets.
Peel them and slice them in half.
Now put them in a pot
of cold water
and bring them up to a boil.
Then you can drain them and mash them.
Set them aside!
Alright, for the peas, I'm using green split peas.
You can also use yellow split peas or even lentils though.
This recipe is cool that way.
put them in some water bring to a boil
and add a little bit of salt
cook for about 20 minutes
or until they're tender like this
drain them and add them
to your potatoes all right now grab a small nonstick pan
and coat it with a little bit
of olive oil we're gonna fry up some onions
with a little bit of salt until they're
golden keep stirring so they won't burn
ah perfect now
you can add your
curry powder
stir it in and once
it's fragrant turn
off the heat then
stir in ginger
and garlic
Alright, now add the whole kit and caboodle to your potato mash.
Taste it at this point too, you may want to add a little bit more salt.
Alright, now we're going to add one egg.
Whisk it up.
I'm adding a little bit of gel color too
because I want these croquettes super green.
You can leave it out though.
Mix in your egg,
and then set
your potatoes
aside.
Let's assemble a dredging station.
You'll need flour, eggs, and panko, the best breadcrumbs in the world!
First, mold your green beauties
into stubby little ovals.
Then, dip them in the flour.
then the egg,
and finally
the panko. Assemble
a bunch on a foil
lined sheet
before frying.
I like frying in a small pot.
Slowly dip it into the hot oil using a spider. Lower it to its doom.
Scream all you want!
In a minute or two it'll be perfectly golden.
Beautiful! Allow it to drain and
then you can fry the rest.
I like serving them up with tonkatsu sauce
or barbecue sauce. Who
needs a lousy crown when you have a snack this magical?
