With stories that matter to you, this is Fox 6 News at 5.
Now at 5, the Milwaukee Brewers
are heading back home after taking down the Los Angeles Dodgers
and advancing to the World Series.
And that is our big story at 5.
The Milwaukee Brewers have punched their ticket to the World Series.
Here is a live look from American Family Field.
This is where it's all going to go down.
World Series game number one.
they're going to find out if they're going
to take on either the Cleveland Guardians or the
Tampa Bay Rays but no matter
who the opponent is that's where it will be happening first
right here in Milwaukee at American Family Field look
who's joined us to talk about it's our sports
director Tim Van Voren hey game four
in that ALCS tonight suddenly lots of interest right
want to see who's going to line up to play the Brewers next
so good times for sure so tell us
I guess, what do we have to look forward to now?
What we haven't had to look forward
to around here in a long, long time, right?
44 years, you've been hearing that number since
the last time the Brewers were in the Fall Classic.
Absolutely, Ben, I think that's part of the reason why
the fans are so celebratory about all this, right?
It's been a lot of years in the baseball wilderness before
this trip to the upper echelon of the game
and the chance to be the champions of the sport for 2026.
The Brewers had head and shoulders better than the Dodgers
in the National League Championship Series.
didn't know that we would definitely be saying
that but they show the world what win our way
really means murphs holds us to a high standard
and um it's it's that this that just discipline
uh behavior i guess that um every day you're expected to to show up
and be an unbelievable
teammate i don't know that we any of us deserve
this but uh it just feels special to to be a part
this group and to be the ones that, you know,
hopefully bring a championship back to Milwaukee.
Ashby is a very engaging guy.
Boy, he was serious on the mound, walking,
getting those strikeouts, walking with focus
back to the dugout, and the bullpen was so important for the Brewers.
They won the series.
You said you've seen some movement around American Family Field.
We've not experienced this in 44 years,
so Major League Baseball will make this feel
like anything you've been to before, correct?
Yeah, absolutely.
It's going to be different.
There's no doubt about it.
It's the World Series.
You're going to have a lot of international media there.
It's going to be a very big deal.
It's going to be a spectacle.
And it's the Fall Classic.
So on the field, it's baseball, but once you see around it,
the trappings are going to be a whole lot different.
What does the week ahead look like for the team?
Are they practicing?
Are they resting?
Well, rest, rehab, hydration maybe.
A little bit after last night in Los Angeles,
as you're going to be reporting on.
Obviously, they're getting back here
early this evening from Los Angeles.
I assume that Pat Murphy is going to give them some downtime.
But then they're going to be back on the field
for some workouts coming up in the upcoming week.
They've had this bye situation before.
They had it to start these playoffs.
They had it last year to start the playoffs.
They have to work out a little bit,
have some stay-ready-type games in that period of time.
But then they want to have everybody lined up healthy
and the best pitchers ready to go for the start of the series,
which is one week from tonight.
Yeah, we've seen this before where other teams,
they struggle with the bye, but it seems like these Brewers,
they really enjoy having some time off to relax and get ready.
I think so, and they've had this experience before.
I think that's probably part of it,
that these guys are such a creature of routine.
They've had to adjust to what that is, but now they're used to the bye.
They're here in town.
All they have to do is watch to see who their next opponent will be.
And I think one interesting thing about
the Brewers is they've kind of said,
as this postseason has gone along, we respect our opponents,
but we worry much more about ourselves.
And so if it's Tampa Bay, if it's Cleveland,
we're going to be the Milwaukee Brewers,
and we'll take our chances with that.
Is there a better matchup in your eyes?
I think Tampa's a better team, maybe, but the Guardians are tough.
They're emotional.
They're ahead in the series right now.
They seem to have a little momentum.
So I think you should do well to respect either
of those American League teams,
though, because now the Brewers will be the favorite, right?
Pat Murphy's played this underdog angle since spring training.
You can't do that anymore.
You're the best team.
You beat the Dodgers.
You're the favorite.
You're the team that people are expecting to win.
So the Brewers will have to take that on.
We're all going to be watching tonight.
Guardians.
Thanks, Tim.
It's going to be a fun week as we prepare for this.
Let's get out to Kim Murphy, who is at Mitchell International Airport.
The Brewers, they're in the sky right now, Kim.
they're heading towards you yes they are ben
but first i have to ask ashley's voice is a little
raspy and i have to wonder if it's
because she was yelling last night cheering on the Brewers
uh and if so wouldn't blame her one bit i think there
are a lot of people out uh in town who
maybe lost their voices from just cheering on the Brewers
that unbelievable win last night game four
we did it we're going to the World Series can't say that enough
because it just sounds so sweet
we've not been able to say that in 44 years
so yes we are near the airport we're outside of the
airport uh we are waiting for the Brewers to return home
and we are under strict guidance
to not share too much about that other than
of course they have to come home right they can't
stay out in LA forever they do have to come home
and get ready for game one which we will host here
at American Family Field in one week so we're in the area uh waiting
for our next instructions on how we then
are able to greet the team when they arrive
but a whole lot of love um fans are also coming in
from LA we met a couple of fans yesterday ted perry did uh
who just decided after game three
why not just do it just book a flight go out there
for game four this could be the epic game that it
turned out to be so some of those folks no doubt
are making their way home back to Milwaukee and
maybe thinking about buying i don't know
a World Series ticket you know i mean why not go big or
go home is what we like to say let me check in with Abril Presciato
who's actually inside Mitchell
International Airport, Abril, a couple of flights
were supposed to be coming in from LA and we know
that there have been some delays there has
been but just like you said go big or go home and that's
what folks that's what we're catching folks doing out here
at Mitchell International Airport there's
this table that they have out here with several filled
with a lot of like brewers gear swag a
little items and we're catching folks just kind
of looking through it obviously as you guys can
see a very few couple of shirts that are left
because people are picking it up including our
new friend Dave Hummer who is traveling from Maryland DC
and can you tell me why
you're picking up a shirt yourself I'm
a big baseball fan we're doing a ton of
work here in Milwaukee be here
for the next five to six years and last time
Brewers were in series was 82
so we're here to support the local city and I'm a
big baseball fan so this is going in my you know framed
and in my office and up
on the wall who knows when we'll see one again absolutely
and for you you know being in town and
being able to experience this obviously
a very historic moment for for the state and even for
Milwaukee you know how was that for you being
a baseball fan uh very exciting very exciting
apparently they had a watch party at the stadium i
was driving by all the cars everything lit up
the bars were hopping last night
and when they won it was just craziness and everybody in the
city is just so excited that the Brewers are moving on absolutely
so obviously you're going
to be as you as you said you're going to be framing it
and now repping the Brewers right
absolutely yeah I think my wife bought a half
and she's in there too so yeah you go Brewers
look forward to that win and I was so happy they beat LA absolutely
and I feel like a lot of people
share that sentiment it was quite the game uh
for you you know um what do you like just being part
of uh everything and just seeing Milwaukee
and being able to experience that you know
Can you just tell us like at least what you have
been grasping from folks? What does this mean?
I think this means the world to a lot of folks
You know the areas I come from it's very few and far between
Baseball team out of DC Nationals been a long time
Baltimore Orioles been a long time and being able to support
the Milwaukee in the community with the endeavors
We're doing out here
It's very exciting to see everybody band together for for their team
and and I'm a big sports fanatic. So it's lovely
absolutely and obviously we're going
to be having the World Series coming out here right
absolutely so we'll be buying tickets i love that oh
my gosh i love that well thank you so much dave
yes thank you so much obviously we've
been coming across several folks out here it's been
quite so it's just been so fun i'm excited myself
as you guys know i'm from los angeles as well
you guys have converted me and i'm a brewers fan now
so that's been very fun now it's been really
good to experience this whole ride
and being part of it as well and getting to witness it
But yeah, you know, just throughout this time that we've been out here,
we've been seeing several folks coming in,
obviously wearing their Brewers swag, their hats, their shirts.
It's really fun to see. But with that, I'll toss it back to Kim.
April, quick question.
I know that the county executive usually has a message,
a video message for people who are arriving home.
Has that changed? Is there anything mentioning the Brewers
and what other signs do you see of Brewers pride?
I actually haven't seen anything all we have
is uh just the regular signs that we normally see I
haven't seen anything different right now
but the stand that we have right here that obviously has
the swag yeah and we say right now
because we know that it's going to change we are hosting the world
series so all around town
when we were in the NFCS we saw landmarks like the Hoan Bridge downtown
with banners and lights
so I'm sure we're going to see some changes at the airport inside the
reporter Abril thanks so much and go yes thank you guys yeah
so i'm gonna send it back to ted
and ashley in the studio
and ashley still i want to know your voice is raspy were you
just yelling last night during the game quietly shouting
from my bed watching because our daughter
was asleep so i can't get too well but you know
when you sometimes whisper like woohoo that that'll
do it to your voice or maybe it's a cold i don't know kim
do you know our our show has a theme
going right now on fox six news at five it's what's
the theme it's the bandwagon show we got
dave from maryland who's jumped on the bandwagon even abril
from la from la has jumped we the
bandwagon's open we'll take anybody i would like
to say that i started driving that bandwagon
i i'm the driver and so yeah the more the merrier
and just it's just going to grow each and every
day i mean people i was getting coffee you know i know
that's nothing new people were talking about
the brewers and saying just how much fun it
was last night watching you know this game and they
just cannot wait to see what happens next
in the world series all right kim murphy from a secret
location covert mission somewhere
in milwaukee county waiting for the brewer to return home
i keep getting updates on okay now move
to this this is like the second location that i've been
to this evening and it keeps changing
and the time keeps changing so i think i've passed and i think
the next time i will be seeing
a brewer okay they're gonna make you put on like one of those
fake mustaches all right we'll keep checking in with you thanks
and the brewers are coming home
All right, we can't talk about how
the Milwaukee Brewers got here without a dive into the team's past.
And we're going way back to 1957
when the Milwaukee Braves won the World Series.
Waukesha County reporter Brett Lemoine is live in Elm Grove with a man
who was there for some of the biggest games that season.
Yeah, he's got a lot of memories to share.
When he was just 15 years old, Terry Sheehan was hired
to be the visiting team's bat boy at County Stadium,
and he has been sharing tons
and tons of pictures and memorabilia with us.
Take a look at this, because I think a lot
of baseball fans will have eyes all on this.
The highlight, of course, this signed bat
from the World Series winners that he keeps under glass.
Sheehan has loved baseball his entire life,
but he says the memories from the dugout really are priceless.
He remembers every score, every play, and every player
who came through County Stadium that season and beyond.
He compares Jackson Chourio, for example, to Hank Aaron,
and he says this team right now is golden.
He'll be rooting for another World Series win, but before that,
we asked him how the game is different from when he was a kid.
It's hard to make comparisons, but I'll do the best I can.
today they're so much bigger so much stronger they throw
so much harder they make so much money
teams are not together anymore milwaukee used to keep their players
unless they were traded
and they were milwaukee made some wonderful trades but uh it's just a
game today now ben and ashley bat boy may not have
been a lucrative job back in 1957 because she had
made two dollars and fifty cents
a day now obviously that doesn't seem like a lot by
today's standards but then take a listen
to this he says his father had season tickets
and back in 1953 box seats at county stadium three dollars
and fifty cents not bad considering what
they're going for today uh for the World Series reporting live
in Elm Grove, Brett LeMoyne
Fox 6 News.
Sounds like a great deal.
Thanks, Brett.
Fans are packing into the Brewers' team store today looking
for official World Series merchandise,
while others are paying thousands of dollars for a game ticket.
Contact 6's Jenna Sachs in the newsroom with all the excitement.
But, Jenna, you've got some important warnings for the consumers.
Let's start with official merchandise
like we're seeing out at the airport.
What should fans know?
There are a few things they should know.
So the official merchandise is available right now
at the Brewers Team Store in American Family Field.
We had a camera there earlier today.
There are two team store locations at the stadium,
one at the left field gate and one at the home plate gate entrance.
They'll have those locker room caps and the T-shirts worn by the team,
the on-field hoodies, and also novelty items like pins and pendants.
We're told the store will take orders over the phone
and can ship items or will arrange for in-store pickup.
And those team store hours are being extended after last night's win.
They'll be open Monday through Saturday,
9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
And I'm told you can actually email them orders
at [email protected].
But if you can't make it to the stadium,
the Rally House stores also have championship gear.
They have locations in Wauwatosa, Brookfield, and Greenfield.
No doubt there's going to be some merchandise,
some fans that are comfortable buying it,
but how could they end up being disappointed?
I mean, they could end up being disappointed with this, right?
Right. There's plenty of people that buy the knockoff merchandise
because it's cheaper, right?
The problem with those retailers
is that buying from them is just riskier.
There are imposter websites
that look very similar to trustworthy sellers,
and they tempt people with steep discounts only to scam them.
When it comes to little-known sellers online,
yes, you could save money,
but you risk the item not arriving or being of poor quality,
or you could expose your payment information to a scammer.
So here's what the Wisconsin Department
of Consumer Protection wants you to know about counterfeit items.
It may not hold up after one or two washings.
They could have seams that aren't complete and threads that are there,
logos that peel off.
But you could also have product that
doesn't meet current safety standards.
So maybe they don't meet proper flammability.
You could have product that has coloring
that contains lead or formaldehyde.
There could also be just comfort.
Maybe the product smells funny, or it could be itchy to wear as well
because of the materials that it's made up of.
Okay, now we've talked about our funky-smelling knockoffs.
Let's talk about ticket prices, which I'm afraid to talk about them.
Can you even get tickets right now?
That's a good question.
Okay, you cannot get them through the Brewer's official website.
I actually spent an hour on hold
with the box office today just to see what would happen,
and I was told all four games are sold out.
You can find tickets on reselling websites,
but they're listed at a premium.
So tickets for Game 1 range from about $2,700 for a terrace seat
to nearly $14,000 right now behind home plate.
Now, these numbers are always fluctuating
because tickets are being bought and sold.
On StubHub, tickets range from about $2,300
for standing room to $13,500 we saw today.
Similar situation on TicketKing,
with tickets between $3,000 and $9,700.
Now, those are the far ends of the spectrum.
Many tickets we saw today seem to fall between $3,500 and $6,000.
So if you're looking for less expensive tickets on other platforms,
state officials have some more advice.
So first, use an established platform that will guarantee your ticket.
Their policy language should be on the website.
Use a credit card.
This is always good to do because they offer
better protection against fraudulent charges.
And be skeptical of what you find
on social media pages like Instagram or Facebook.
Be careful what you find there and the links you click on.
Then you should insist on an in-app transfer of your ticket.
That means you don't want a PDF version of the ticket
or a printed copy of a barcode that won't get you through the door.
And the last thing we want is for someone
to pay thousands of dollars for a ticket,
get all excited for the World Series,
and then be denied entry at the gate.
Yeah, we do not want that.
What would you have done if the Brewers
picked up after waiting for an hour?
Would you have bought it?
Would I have bought a ticket after waiting an hour?
Yeah, like if they actually picked up the phone.
I know you called them.
I mean, what if they picked up?
I was just curious.
I knew what they were going to say.
I was asking about Game 1, and they told me all four were sold out.
I asked about the packages for next year, and they told me
that would be a transfer to another line and another wait.
So I think there is a way in if you want
to buy tickets for next year, season tickets.
But I'm unclear because I didn't wait on that line as well.
Oh, just charge it to corporate.
It's fine.
All right, Jenna.
Thanks.
That is some important stuff that you just talked about.
Our coverage of the Brewers continues online.
You have to download the Fox Local app this week
because there is just so much cool stuff on there.
It's also on fox6now.com.
You're going to find ticket information,
details on World Series merchandise,
a special look back at Milwaukee's last pennant-winning team.
When the team comebacks tonight, that's going to be live on Fox Local.
So check it out.
Today, not an ideal time for a baseball game outside.
Yeah, Steph, fortunately for the Brewers,
there is a roof for the World Series.
Yes, thank goodness, Ben and Ashley.
But also, looking long range,
we have a lot of sunshine in our forecast,
so we may get lucky here.
we'll talk more about your weekend coming up plus
Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs will
soon be eligible to get back on the football field
the update from the NFL today big news coming out
of Green Bay for the Packers
the NFL says running back Josh Jacobs can return the league says Jacobs
will be removed from the commissioner exempt list on Monday
and he will be eligible to play
on October 25th, that's week seven,
after missing the first six games of the season.
The NFL started an investigation under
the personal conduct policy following Jacobs'
arrest in May. Jacobs was then convicted
and fined in a misdemeanor battery case with his
incident involving his ex. The league's review is ongoing.
Jacobs was placed on the commissioner's
exempt list on August 30th, but again, he will be returning.
Prosecutors have charged a 13-year-old
boy with beating up a fellow student at a Milwaukee K-8 school.
It happened Thursday.
This happened at Ralph Metcalf School.
Prosecutors say the 13-year-old beat up an 8-year-old as the
younger child walked into an empty classroom to eat lunch.
The 13-year-old boy is now charged
in juvenile court with three counts of substantial battery
and one count of child abuse. Milwaukee Police
Milwaukee Public Schools say in a statement
the boy hit his head on a door frame after being
stopped by another student.
The district says it is working with Milwaukee Police and will take
appropriate disciplinary action.
All right let's talk about our weather because we are eyes to
the skies right now Stephanie Marichello.
The Milwaukee Brewers they're flying back from sunny
LA and I know some fans will probably go out to see
if they can get a glimpse of the team. Yes and
who can blame them? Now it might be kind of a bumpy ride.
It's pretty windy out there today
and we've had a couple of showers here or there.
Those are just about done, but we are going to
stay breezy through the evening
and it's going to be a chilly one as well. Let's talk about
conditions right now. Temperatures are in the upper 40s and low 50s.
We are falling quick and
that is going to be the theme of the night.
Remember, we have frost and freeze headlines
overnight tonight and we'll get to that in just a bit
but it's 49 degrees already in Milwaukee
only 50 in Waukesha if you're going to be out
and about bring the layers because we also have
strong wind still that means that spots
that are dealing with temperatures in the 40s already
technically registering
a wind chill right now temperatures below 50 with a strong wind you
register feel like temperature
which is pretty hard to believe but it just goes to show again
that it's going to be a bit of a cool evening,
especially as we see clouds clear in the coming hours.
Your Blitz game of the week,
Sussex-Hamilton versus Marquette.
That is in Tosa at Hart Park.
Layer up.
Temperature is once again going to fall through the 40s,
but overnight lows tonight will be in the 30s.
You can see as we look at satellite and radar,
there are just a few more of these very light, spotty showers.
These are going to fizzle out in the next hour at best.
Once we hit sunset, which we are already very close to,
they will lose all of their energy.
You can already see clear skies across most of northern Wisconsin.
There is a series of high-pressure systems out towards the west,
and those are moving in our direction
and will bring us plenty of sunshine through the weekend.
So no problems when it comes to rain,
but it's going to remain windy both Saturday and Sunday,
and temperatures, again, going to be on the chilly side.
Freeze warning for just about everybody inland,
including Sheboygan County.
That is 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday.
That is for air temperatures below freezing, potentially even below 30.
And then Ozaukee County down to Kenosha County, frost advisory.
Temperatures likely around freezing to about 35 or 36.
I will caution you, though,
frost can still happen when air temperatures are just above freezing.
So even if you're in Milwaukee, just be safe.
Cover the mums, cover the plants.
if you want to keep them going a little bit longer into the season,
but especially across those inland areas.
Again, a preview of potential temperatures.
Inland, you can see that possibility of being near
or even just below the 30-degree mark.
Just a little bit better than that, though, along Lake Michigan.
Let's take a look at Sky Vision Plus.
This is a quiet sky vision through the weekend.
Wind dies down overnight tonight briefly,
and then plenty of sunshine for Saturday.
but notice how the wind picks up again.
So another breezy Saturday,
staying clear Saturday night and also still chilly.
Frost is possible Saturday night, too.
And then Sunday, southwesterly wind will get us back to 60s.
We'll continue to see sunshine, but it's going to be another windy day.
So we still have a few more days of wind.
Your full six-day looking really, really good.
A chilly Saturday, especially in the morning.
Then we're back to 60s for Sunday.
And look at that nice long stretch of sunshine.
Our forecast only goes out to Thursday.
I wish we had a Friday on there,
but hoping we can keep the sunshine and the 70s going
for that first game of the World Series here in Milwaukee.
That's your latest forecast.
We have more Fox 6 News at 5 coming up. Stay with us.
Brewers fans are rushing to get their new World Series gear.
This is what it looked like earlier today at the team store.
Fans lining up to buy new swag.
There are new shirts, sweatshirts, hats, and a lot more.
One fan says this playoff run is all for Bob Uecker.
Oh, Uecker's awesome.
Like, this is a fantastic experience right now
because this whole thing is for Uecker.
Like, we're doing it all for Bob because he's the Mr. Baseball,
the grandmaster of the stadium.
I hope they rename the stadium to Uecker Stadium,
which would be awesome.
Bob Uecker Ballpark, that'd be awesome.
Oh, to get the World Series gear.
Anything that we could get for World Series.
We swept.
That's right.
Where's my broom?
That's right.
That's what we're here for.
Get the swag.
We got to.
World series, baby.
Yep.
So what do you think the straggler was like
in the store there with everybody?
Very packed.
Yeah.
But very productive, for sure.
The staff was good in there.
Yeah.
But I mean, I know a lot of people are just going like,
and the pendants that they have,
they were just, the guy was putting the box out there,
and he was setting them up, and
he's just going like this.
and we will be here for the World Series.
I think we all need hair like that.
You can catch every World Series game right here on Fox 6.
Game 1 is next Friday at AmFam Field.
Game 2 is Saturday the 24th.
Then games 3 and 4 are on the road.
Games 5, 6, and 7 are after that if necessary.
Our Brewers coverage does not stop here.
we break down several numbers up next.
Most sports are for athletes, but the data-driven
nature of Major League Baseball makes it a magnet for mathletes.
Yeah, so we had to find a data nerd,
and who did we find? Fox 6 investigator Brian Bolson,
I know you've been poring over just
interesting numbers about this team.
Well, you know, when they say we need someone to kind of
dig into the numbers, they go, Brian likes data, right?
We'll have him check it out. Well, the first
thing I'm going to start with, though, I will tell you,
I have some fascinating stats to share, but
the first thing has nothing at all to do with math.
The Milwaukee Brewers are just the second
team ever to represent both the American League
and National League in a World Series. The Houston
Astros is the other team, but we're just the second to do this.
Of course, we used to be in
the American League. The Brewers are the first team
to sweep a playoff opponent who swept them
the year before, and not just in baseball.
No team in the NBA or NHL has done it either, at least not
in a seven-game series
the brewers four-run comeback win last night the largest deficit
overcome to clinch a sweep in a seven-game series
and the brewers the first team ever
to sweep a seven-game playoff series in which
the bullpen was credited with all four wins none of
the starters got a win in this series that is crazy
the 2024 brewers won a franchise record
as we know 103 regular season games they've won 293 games
the past three seasons under
manager pat murphy that is the most
in baseball even more than the dodgers who won the last two
world series it's the fifth most
in any baseball manager's first three seasons since 1969 now of
course we talk a lot about 1982 right now
the 82 brewers remain all-time legends names like
Yount and Molitor and Cecil Cooper
and gorman thomas harvey's wall bangers were built for power they
They hit 62 more home runs
and had 75 more extra base hits than Pat Murphy's 2024 club.
But this year's Brewers are built to get on base and run.
They drew 184 more walks than the 82 team and stole 78 more bases.
They also struck out a lot, nearly twice as much.
And they hit the second fewest home runs in the league,
but don't think they don't have power.
The Brewers now lead all teams
in this year's playoffs with 10 postseason home runs.
So they can hit for power when they need to.
The most statistically valuable Brewer in 1982,
according to today's advanced metrics.
If you look back, Robin Yount was worth 10 more wins than
an average replacement player.
In 2026, it's Bryce Turang.
Oh.
He's worth more than seven,
or worth seven more wins than your average replacement player.
The Brewers pitching.
We've got a Cy Young award winner, I think.
Jacob Misiorowski.
We haven't heard it officially,
but everyone thinks that's where it's going to be.
Don't expect him to go nine innings, though.
He only did it once this year.
He was the only Brewers pitcher to go the distance.
The 82 Brewers, 34 complete games.
It was a different game then.
You don't see pitchers go the full distance anymore.
When it comes to fans in the seats,
the 82 Brewers averaged about 24,000 fans per game,
filling County Stadium to about 45% capacity.
It was a bigger stadium in terms of the overall number of seats.
This year's team drew an average of 34,000 fans.
82% of the seats at American Family Field
were filled on an average day.
throughout this season and here's where we wrap it up
the magic of the number 44 this is the first
time in 44 years you've heard us say it a bunch
the brewers are back in the fall classic and
someone pointed out to me today it just happens
to match the jersey number of one of milwaukee's
all-time great brewers hammer and hank aaron
who was part of the city's only world series win
with the milwaukee braves and ben
and ashley know that happened in 1957 this is now the 57th season
that the Brewers have played in Milwaukee.
I don't know if you believe in magic.
I don't know if you believe that Bob Uecker
knocked that ball down from the roof at AmFam
against the Padres,
but it sure feels like this is a season of destiny.
Wow.
I'm going to keep all those numbers
to impress somebody at some point
before the World Series and during.
It's crazy.
Another crazy stat I saw was
if you compare the Dodgers' stats
when they swept the Brewers
to the Brewers' stats when they swept the Dodgers,
there was something like the same exact amount
of plate appearances like the same guys got
on same number of people got on base the same batting
average and slugging percentage it was like different
the payroll like more than two to one
i mean this has been an impressive run yeah we want
to see those numbers side by side yeah i mean
it's it's dwarfed by the Dodgers i saw someone send me
a joke that the Los Angeles Dodgers just
announced they bought the Milwaukee Brewers not true
the Brewers are moving on another big number
is the cost of World Series tickets, which we can all debate
if we're going to sell a car or not to get there.
So, Brian, thanks for coming in.
If you want to educate your children
or go to a World Series game, right?
Get baseball nerdy with us.
We should have Brian at like a cocktail party ahead of the World Series
just to throw out some of these stats.
Did you know?
Yeah, that was cool.
Some very cool numbers in there.
I believe in Brewers magic now.
Thanks, Brian.
Thanks, Brian.
Well, here is a live look of Fiserv Forum.
The Milwaukee Bucks are responding
to the Brewers advancing to the World Series.
The Bucks say their home opener against
the Chicago Bulls next Friday is being moved from 7 p.m. to 3 p.m.
The Bucks say limited tickets are still available.
The Admirals are moving their game this Sunday
and start up being on that Friday.
And you just can't get enough of the Brewers right now.
So we have more coming up in moments.
Plus, Matt LaFleur, he's preparing for a key Packers game
and will then get a key player back on the field.
Big news in Green Bay.
Tim Van Voren has all that.
You're watching Fox 6 Sports with sports director Tim Van Voren.
The Brewers are in the sky right now,
jetting back to Milwaukee after winning
the National League Championship Series
in Los Angeles.
We do not have an altitude reading from FlightAware,
but it would be appropriate if they were flying high.
I don't know how we did it.
You know, I'm just happy to be along with it.
And, you know, it's nothing but love and support for my guys
and, you know, the road that we've been on.
So it's been amazing.
What was that moment like with that last out?
A lot of fun.
You know, it's also terrifying that I wasn't a part of it
and I didn't have any say in it.
But, you know, trust our teammates and trust our guys.
So it was a lot of fun.
Packers news today.
Josh Jacobs gets clearance from the NFL to return to the team.
After legal problems in the offseason,
he will come off the commissioner's exempt list on Monday,
making him eligible to play October 25th at Detroit.
Now, whether or not Jacobs is ready to go
by then will be determined in practice.
Leading up to the Lions game,
he has not been able to practice while on the list either.
Lambeau Field figures to be pretty juiced on Sunday night.
Packers hosting the Cowboys.
The sports fan attention will not be diverted
with a game six for the Brewers in the NLCS that same night.
Could have been.
Green Bay looking to improve to four and two.
Gets some of its energy from reserve defensive
backslash special teamer Kamal Hadden.
I definitely take pride in it, but it comes naturally, man.
And just, like, being the youngest, like,
again, like, being the youngest of five
and, you know, always being the youngest amongst,
like, the guys that I hang out with
and stuff like that,
I've just always been kind of an energy guy, you know,
uplift the room and, you know,
I just try and bring joy and, you know, positivity
to this team and to what we need in here.
How can you go wrong with a guy like that around Sunday night kickoff?
So we're moving back to the Fox 6 Sports Blitz to an 11 o'clock start,
allowing you to get the most complete reaction
from the locker room as well as analysis.
We hope to see you Sunday night at 11 p.m. instead of 10.30.
That is this week only.
And are you wondering about the high school blitz tonight?
After all, Pewaukee here in the black playing against New Berlin West
for the Parkland Conference Championship.
Well, have no fear.
Even though Brandon Cruz
and Lily Zhao are still out in California, we've got you covered.
Pirates, Vikings game, all of tonight's action.
We've got the scores.
We've got the highlights.
It's kind of our fall classic high school blitz edition.
So we hope to see you for that later on today.
We'll come back with more from Ashley and Ben in just a moment.
Samson
Samson you're all smiles buddy
we are going to the World Series
how happy are you my friend
he was crying earlier
you're going to make me cry
Samson was born with
quad spastic cerebral palsy
so he's never walked but he's walking
tonight
who's your favorite
player Samson
Jackson
you got two favorite players two favorites buddy i i've never
been happier for a fan than i am for
you right now all right you guys let's go win
the world series yeah guys i didn't think i was
gonna tear up but that got to me i made all
of us tear up last night that was ted perry he spoke
with those fans after last night's game fast forward to today
and our Maddie Stahl spoke
and caught up back with samson
and his dad on fox six now this afternoon here's part of their
interview I know it probably was a long night last night,
but the Brewers going to the World
Series, my first question to you both, how are you guys feeling?
Fantastic. I mean, this is a huge
moment in Wisconsin sports history,
and I'm glad that I was there to witness one of the greatest
moments ever. Yeah, yeah, it's really special.
I mean, in my lifetime, I'm 52. I've never had a
wisconsin uh event until the bucks took it go Giannis
and then now for the brewers the first
time since 82 that's just phenomenal
and then this video is really neat too so yeah and it's been
years and years as you were saying it's
a generational thing dave and i'm sure for you
so incredible to share it now with both of your sons
but you live in the minneapolis area so i
have to ask what's the story here how did you
become diehard Brewers fans um so my dad i'm i'm
i'm an ohioan uh but my dad was transferred
to the milwaukee area around 1990 and then uh once i got
to wisconsin uh you know you just you get embraced you get
a giant hug from packers fans brewers fans
just everybody and and the whole culture in the state is it's just
so special you you can't help
but convert and so and honestly jumping over from uh
the Cleveland Browns to the Green Bay Packers
it's like uh it's an easy choice yeah
and I even saw the cheese head in the video too so I was like
this isn't just Brewers this is a whole Wisconsin sports thing
so Samson since you were born you
have always been a Brewers fan yes yeah yeah it
was like if we had a choice to watch like the
twins which are obviously local in Minneapolis versus watching
the Brewers it's uh it's kind of
like a kind of a not even a choice really at all
but but we do go to every Brewers game that come
when they come up and then we try to get down
to Milwaukee if it's possible so great to hear from
them just the joy that that boy had last night
when the Brewers won it was everything yeah it
really shows you you know it's all about baseball
that'll touch any fan Steph it was cold windy
today but uh you said it's gonna get better I
guess next week right yeah we have got quite an
improvement when it comes to the forecast next week.
Even the weekend is going to be completely
sunny. Still going to be a bit cool, though, and a bit breezy.
So we're getting better day by day.
Take a look at high temperatures today.
Do you remember Monday when we hit 87 degrees?
The high today was only 55 degrees,
quite a few degrees below our seasonal average of 61.
And right now we're back to upper 40s.
We're enjoying a really nice sunset, but only 49
degrees feeling cooler
because the wind is still strong out of the north it is gusting over 20
miles per hour right now but look
at our peak wind gusts today everybody for the most part had
gusts over 30 miles per hour in fact just over 40 miles
per hour in Racine now the wind is still
going to be breezy overnight tonight
but we should see at least a brief break before it picks up
again on Saturday sprinkles are fizzling out
as we speak once those are done in the next hour or so
then the clouds will quickly clear,
and that's when temperatures will really drop.
But once they clear, we are going
to stay sunny all the way through the weekend.
There's some high-pressure systems out towards
the west that's going to dominate our forecast here,
not just the next couple of days,
but even into a good chunk of next week.
Now, the big story, though, is that with clearing
clouds overnight tonight comes some really chilly air.
There are many spots, not just in southeast Wisconsin,
across the state, under freeze warnings right now.
That includes all of our inland areas and Sheboygan County.
That is for air temperatures falling below 32 degrees
and realistically below 30 degrees.
So a hard freeze is not out of the question inland.
It's relatively brief, though.
We do gradually warm night by night.
But tonight is the night to bring in any sensitive plants
or cover them before you head to bed.
Ozaukee County down to Kenosha County under a frost advisory.
That's for temperatures dropping to around freezing or middle 30s.
It's still possible to see frost when temperatures are above freezing.
So even Milwaukee, take those proper
precautions before you head to bed tonight.
Let's take a look at sky vision.
A quick look here.
Clear skies expected through the night tonight.
Wind will still be breezy at times.
A chilly start to Saturday, then sunny, breezy again.
Temperatures will be in the mid-50s, so another cool day tomorrow.
But then as we head into Sunday, more sunshine again, more wind,
but with it being out of the southwest,
should bring us back to low 60s.
And then past that, again, we'll continue
to climb pretty much every day.
Your full six-day showing a lot of sunshine.
Notable that it is still going to be windy Saturday and Sunday,
a chilly Saturday as well.
But notice, throughout next week,
we are back to upper 60s and eventually 70 by next Thursday.
That's your latest forecast.
