Out of D.C., police are investigating two separate
late-night shootings near Howard University.
This occurred over homecoming weekend.
Six people went to the hospital as a result of all this.
Now, police say gunfire took place around Georgia Avenue
between Florida Avenue and 7th Street Northwest.
That occurred about 11.20 last night, leaving one person injured.
Police say that the shooting at this point does
not appear to be directly Howard-related.
However, a search for a suspect remains underway.
Now, just minutes before that, a second shooting.
That happened on Sherman Avenue near Howard University,
prompting campus police alerts after five victims
were rushed to a local hospital.
No word yet on the school students,
whether or not any of them were involved.
Still searching for a suspect this morning.
D.C. police say they're urging motorists to avoid that area
while officers conduct that investigation.

Another major investigation we're following this morning after
a man was shot and killed in Prince George's County.
This morning, new videos showing moments after the murder.
Fox 5's Virginia Rita is in Capitol Heights with more on what we know.
And we can confirm that this was a deadly shooting here
in Prince George's County.
We've been speaking to nearby neighbors who say
the shooting happened just a few feet away from where I'm standing.
You can actually still see
a police cruiser parked here near this location.
We tried to talk to possible witnesses.
They did not want to speak on camera,
but we did obtain surveillance video.
Now, take a look. Security footage shows
the moment after shots were fired.
You can see a person running,
then a woman who appears to make a call, possibly police.
A short time later, officers arrive.
But here's what we know.
The Prince George's County Police Department says officers responded
to the 5,000 block of Emo Street around 1140 this morning.
According to authorities, when police arrived,
they found a man outside suffering with a gunshot wound.
Paramedics rushed him to the hospital,
but investigators say he died a short time later.
Now, homicide detectives are working to identify the suspect
and determine what led up to this shooting.
Police have not released information on this suspect.
We have not gotten the identity of this victim.
This is still an ongoing investigation.
However, we did reach out to the Prince
George's County Police Department.
They say they have no further information to release at this time.

It is deadline day for the plaintiffs
of the East Potomac Golf Course lawsuit.
This is after the Justice Department asked
a federal judge to step aside from the case.
Judge Anna Reyes, according to U.S. attorneys,
has been showing hostility towards
the Trump administration during a hearing this past week.
That is where she ordered tree-cutting equipment removed from public
courses and demanded testimony from Interior Department officials.
Judge Reyes ordered a response to the recusal motion by today,
but has not yet said whether or not she will withdraw from that case.
We have a live look at St. Peter's Square in Vatican City,
where this morning, Pope Leo spoke to the faithful about an hour ago.
This was his first public appearance since that lung cancer surgery.
The 71-year-old Pontiff delivered his traditional Sunday blessing
from his window overlooking St. Peter's Square.
Before Pope Leo's hospital release yesterday,
surgeons confirmed that there is no medical reason for him
to cancel what is an upcoming trip to South America.
Now, they're expecting the Pope to have
a full recovery in just about 10 days.
All right, 8:06 this Sunday morning.
Let's get outside of Fox 5 Skycam Network this morning over our friends
in Frederick with the sun actually really brilliant this morning.
Blue skies all around.
Gwen Talbert joins us, of course, again this morning.
And we're starting to see not only the breezes in the air,
but the leaves are starting to come down.
I heard some rakes in the neighborhood yesterday,
so it's going to be that tune real soon.
Getting closer to Halloween and you start seeing the leaves.
Yeah, I kind of like that part of it.
Well, it's pretty chilly out there, Tom.
And the chill is on and not going anywhere anytime soon,
so get used to it.
We've got a chilly start to a very sunny day.
That's the other side of the story, the sunshine,
which is going to be sticking around.
Forty-five degrees this hour with plenty of sunshine.
Winds are coming in from the north at about 10 miles an hour.
Those winds will pick up a little later,
so a little bit on the nippy side.
Ridge of high pressure, large and in charge,
but also watching this little bit of disturbance here off the coast,
which has the potential to become a nor'easter.
Now, model's not quite in agreement just yet,
so we're going to keep a close eye on it to kind of see what it does
as we get closer to the end of the week.
In the meantime, 32 degrees in Martinsburg, 31 at Cumberland,
38 at Hagerstown, 37 at Culpeper, Fredericksburg at 41,
Leonardtown 46, but a cool 35 for Gaithersburg, and 36 for Westminster.
We have cold weather alerts in place,
freeze warning and frost advisory these expire
at the nine o'clock hour they kicked in early
pre-dawn this morning and if you have any plants hopefully
in this area that you've taken well
care of them because sensitive vegetation certainly
at risk here as well as could cause
some problems for some outdoor plumbing
so keep that in mind all north and west of the Beltway
so plenty of sunshine right across the board for today
and it's going to be a day where
temperatures are going to be below the seasonal average
into the low 60s. Oh yeah, a jacket or
a sweater for sure. I'll have more coming up
a little bit later with that full seven-day forecast
for you. Gwen, we thank you so much.

after a boat sank off of Mexico's Baja Coast.
Now, this bus boat capsized Friday morning with
27 people on board. 16 of those were pulled out of the water
and were treated for suspected shark
bites. The U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Navy,
