Students at SUNY Purchase join nationwide ‘AI freeze’ walkout

Those here at SUNY Purchase are joining schools across the country, demanding an AI freeze. A group called Irreplaceable organized the nationwide walkout. It's calling for guardrails against the technology. The demonstration at SUNY Purchase included dozens of students from different majors with one common goal, to create stronger regulations against AI. Senior Ryan Dolinsky, a double major in math, computer science and social sciences, is getting ready to graduate and says he already has seen AI impacting jobs in his field. It's so scary that our generation is expected to go into the workforce next year and AI is replacing my coding jobs. Like AI is replacing like entry-level jobs that we can get. Like we're going into so much debt and for what? There are also multiple walkouts happening across New York City. I'll have more from the demonstration at Fordham University tonight at 9. Reporting from SUNY Purchase in Westchester County, Jackie Gillis, News 12.
