Tensions were already running high at a political roundtable
Wednesday evening at the Bezac Environmental Education Center
when a candidate was asked about her immigration status.
As a young child, this is something that is very important to me.
It's a way I really go.
I'm going to let you fit. I'm going to let you fit on that one, man.
Moments later, people in the audience heard screaming
from a bathroom in the back of the center.
This video shows Westchester County Board
of Legislators candidate Keisha Skipper
exchanging words with Stephanie Holguin in the bathroom.
Holguin, who recorded this video,
says she previously volunteered with Skipper's campaign.
Holguin tells News 12 she went after Skipper
because she owes her roughly $2,000 for work she says she did.
If you're promising me money, I'm here to collect.
Skipper denies Holguin's claims that she was not paid.
The video later shows Donna Nolan,
the mother of county legislator James Nolan,
Skipper's opponent, entering the bathroom.
Video then shows Nolan and Holguin closing the door.
Skipper says both women then blocked the door,
preventing her from leaving.
I asked them to excuse me twice and then proceeded
to try to open the door to get out of the restroom.
I was assaulted.
Video taken from outside
the bathroom captures part of what happened next.
Both Skipper and Donna Nolan received
medical attention following the incident.
Skipper also said on social media that she was briefly detained
while police investigated.
James Nolan gives a different account.
My mother tried to get in there just to separate them.
Nolan says his mother was attacked
while Skipper says she was the one assaulted.
Yonkers police say the incident is still under investigation
and no charges have been filed.
In Yonkers, Westchester County, Lauren Dalval, News 12.
