Well, as the Lions get set to take on the Green Bay Packers on Monday,
they made a couple of moves to help get them game ready.
But that's not stopping the blockbuster trade rumors
that have been circulating,
linking to the Lions for a couple of defensive players
that would bring tremendous upside going forward.
We're going to dive into those rumors,
the ramifications, the signings, all of that,
and a whole lot more on this edition of Lions Digest.
Hey, everybody, yours truly, Captain Lou here.
want to take a moment to welcome those of you
that might be checking us out for the first time
to the program and if you haven't done it yet i invite you
to hit that subscribe button it's free
come along on the season journey with us
and the Lions here in 2026 be a part of the conversation
all the live reactions
and all the fun stuff we've got going on this year on Lions Digest
while the Lions are getting set for the Packers
their first divisional opponent
in 2026 they made a couple of moves yesterday
to try to fortify their chances against the Packers
first and foremost they signed Miles Bryant to the practice squad
and he could be a big pickup
for the Lions here as a depth piece going forward here
in 2026 now the other move they made was
elevating DeAndre Carter to the 53 man roster
this was expected for the Lions as he will be
the primary punt returner and will
also help Jacob Sailors in the kickoff return department
but if you look at the numbers for Miles Bryant you can make
a case that he could be activated
to the 53 man roster before Sunday he's got some
experience six years he's played in the league
77 games played 20 starts he's got four
interceptions what i like about it 10 TFLs
and 180 solo tackles so some depth pieces
but if you listen to the blockbuster trade rumors going
out there this may not be enough
and this may not be the last thing that the Lions do now a huge
trade proposal has been bandied out
by ESPN they're proposing that the Lions are engaging
in a potential trade with the Los Angeles Chargers now
this trade proposal the Lions would get
veteran defensive end rusher Khalil Mack
and cornerback Dante Jackson the Chargers in return
would potentially get the Lions fourth round pick
and the sixth round pick in 2027 now for me I
would do that trade in a heartbeat I love what
Khalil Mack could bring he could be an added depth
piece on the defensive line as a pass rusher
and of course Dante Jackson he could still be that
piece for the Lions a much needed uh presence
in the defensive backfield max pressure let's take a
look at that he's had three sacks already this year
for the Los Angeles Chargers they're pretty
close to blowing it up there they
are really struggling right now in this 2026 season so
wouldn't be surprised if eventually they put him out
on the trade market and if you listen to Cleo
Mack, he's chasing that ring.
He still wants to get that elusive Super Bowl ring. And as we
mentioned, Khalil Mack would add a proven pass rush for the Lions.
Now this would be huge. And
what I like as well about Dante Jackson,
as he would address the outside corner needs that the
Lions desperately need. So I'm going to ask you,
let's go back to Khalil Mack first. This is one
of the thing. I like this guy.
I think he would be a good veteran presence for the Lions. He's got
that rusher adds experience.
Three sacks, as I mentioned already, in six games. A possible
short-term boost for the Lions. What would you think?
Here's the trade verdict I want to ask you.
Would you consider this package? Would you do it?
Yes, for both the defensive needs. No, keep the
picks. Now, we all know Brad Holmes.
He likes his draft picks. He loves his draft capital. And he,
Again, I think that this is something
that might be a little far-fetched,
but I think this is something the Lions would consider.
But the question is, would the Chargers consider it?
Let's take a look at the secondary outlook.
Do you think the Lions still need a corner?
Again, they signed Bryant,
and he could potentially be activated in the 53-man roster.
Would this be enough if they made this trade?
Yes, find a starter.
They still need a corner or no.
Bryant helps for now.
Yeah, he'll help for now, but is he going to be enough for the Lions?
Now, let's get back to that trade proposal.
And we'll want to make sure that we let everybody know what is known.
This is Brian Barnwell's proposal from ESPN.
It's hypothetical.
The Chargers are resisting the trade proposals as of right now.
No confirmed Lions-Chargers deal has been established.
The talks are there.
The rumors are gaining steam.
and as we all know where there's smoke there's fire
so i want to ask you again would you do it
what about the trade verdict would you make
this trade yes for both defensive needs or no keep the
picks and we'll keep what we've got right now
so we know the defense needs definitely some
improvement and these trades would definitely help it in my opinion
so speaking of the defensive
liabilities the lions every game they've played
this year they've been over the total with all
five of their opponents
and so why not buck why buck the trend right that's why i'm gonna roll
with our brand new partner here on lions digest
and that's CalSheet and i'm gonna trade yes
that this game with the packers is gonna go over 53
and a half points now with CalSheet remember
you're trading directly against other users
not the traditional sports books you're buying
contracts on all kinds of sporting events whether
the politics you name it now let's take
a look at it again with the Lions
and the Packers the over under right now is about 53 and a half
points that's why i'm going to trade yes
on it it's right about 50 50 is how it's being traded
right now. So if you trade $25 on this potential
of the game being over, you will get $47.39
on your return with a $25 trade. Why trade $25 do you ask?
Well, it's that simple. Use the link
in the description. If you're interested in trying Kalshi,
use that link in the description
and make sure you use the promo code digest nfl
when you do that your first $25 trade you'll get
55 back into your account instantly all the games
are trading on Kalshi all right let's go back we
talked yesterday we've heard the rumors about Sam LaPorta
not the rumors we've heard about what Sam
Laporta had to say in that podcast about his dissatisfaction,
his frustration, his anger
about the lack of a contract extension for him with the Detroit Lions.
Let's take a look at some
of the comments after that press conference or that podcast,
if you will. Sam Laporta is one of
the best tight ends in the business. God's name.
Why are they not jumping at the chance to get an
extension done and get him signed. Give him what he needs.
He's worth every cent. And another person
writes in and said, this is eerily similar
to when they traded T.J. Hockenson to the Vikings. Remember
that? Hawkinson, though, hasn't really,
in my opinion, he's done okay, but he's been battling
injuries. Laporta, I think,
is a better tight end than Hockenson was at Detroit, although they're
right it's very eerily similar
and finally this last one we need Sam LaPorta give him the respect
pay him detroit lions pay him well
that being said it's going to be interesting how all that
plays out as well hey don't forget coming up sunday we've got
