Elon Musk just became CNN's boss's boss's boss's boss.
Now, somewhere in Atlanta,
a teleprompter just started sweating.
Here's the twist, guys. For years,
CNN treated this man like a cartoon villain.
He called them the disinformation news network.
He even said that they needed a thorough house cleaning.
And they laughed. They laughed at him
on air with a little smirk that they practiced in the mirror.
Well, guess who just called the
cleaners? So let's go ahead and follow the dominoes,
shall we? Larry Ellison, yes. Mr.
Oracle, you know a man with more money than some countries
and his son David, his own son David
owned Paramount Skydance, Paramount Skydance gobbled
up Warner Brothers, Warner Brothers own CNN, so of
course the Ellisons needed the cash
so they they did what any of us would do, they call their
billionaire buddy Elon Musk and ask for a cool billion dollars
and he said yes, kind of like it
was a Venmo request for pizza
or something yeah yeah just a couple billion dollars just send it
back to me whenever you can. If not, it's all good.
So now, of course, the man CNN bought for
a decade sits four levels below the anchor desk.
This is not a promotion, folks. This is a horror
movie. Kara Swisher found out
who her new boss's boss was and grabbed her purse. On the way out,
she said Elon Musk belongs in jail.
Brave words from somebody who never had to ask HR who signs
the checks. So Elon's reply, two words, message received.
Oh, and the last time that he had said
that, he left California. California
is still checking the couch cushions for the billions
he took with him. Meanwhile, the cardboard boxes are stacking up.
CNN is now experiencing
a mostly peaceful restructuring.
Last time Elon Musk walked into a company, he carried
a sink in there with him.
This time, somebody please grab the man a trash can, a big one.
And every liberal who ever bought a Tesla
to save the planet, you didn't just save
the planet, you just bought Elon a brand new news network.
So I really do hope that the new
bumper sticker was worth it.
Well, today, guys, we're going to name every name. Elon Musk,
the Ellison's, Paramount, Warner Brothers,
Swisher, not to be confused with Swisher Sweets,
the state of California, plus, of course,
the reporter who told Elon Musk that London
is safer than any American city.
Spoiler alert, that age like milk in a hot car.
and uh the media the media is covering this like
a boring business memo well i have news for you
we're not going to do that real quick if you
or somebody you love or you know someone is on
medicare turning 65 years old check out chapter guys i left
their phone number in the description
down below hit the link give them a call right now
the average senior saving about 1100 bucks a year
phone number is 909-563-8279
the average senior saving about 1100 bucks a year and i'm being told
that the shortest hold times are now on the weekends.
Yeah, let me know how that works out
for you. Now, go ahead and hit subscribe, guys.
It's totally free, which is roughly what CNN is
worth right now. And if you enjoy the show,
just leave a like for your boy. Totally appreciate you.
Or you can leave a like in the beginning.
Totally up to you. All right. Rewind the tape, guys. All
the way. Let's go back to 2020. So Elon Musk, he is on Twitter.
Picture him on the couch typing
with his thumbs and grinning.
What I find most surprising of all is that CNN still exists.
Ooh, ouch. Oh, and then another one.
He congratulates CNN on its new name, the
Disinformation News Network. Oh, and then another one.
CNN is deeply infected with the woke mind
virus. And then the big one, CNN needs a thorough housecleaning.
Year after year, guys, post after
post, kind of like a guy throwing darts at the same board.
Oh, and CNN, ha ha ha ha, yeah,
they laughed they laughed roll
their eyes they called elon unhinged ran whole news segments on
how dangerous elon's posts were because surely
a guy tweeting from his couch could never actually
do anything about it right well guess
who just called the cleaners all right guys grab a white
board everyone gather around one
of those you know dry erase pens let's draw this out box one
larry ellison the oracle billionaire a man
with yachts bigger than your neighborhood
Yeah, his son, David, runs Paramount Skydance.
Now, let's go ahead and arrow down box number two, Paramount Skydance.
They just swallowed up Warner Brothers in a deal worth billions.
Arrow down.
Box number three, Warner Brothers.
Oh, and what's sitting in Warner Brothers' basement collecting dust?
Oh, yeah, CNN.
That's right, guys.
Here's the problem.
Swallowing giant companies is expensive.
The Ellisons wanted more cash, lower costs, and a higher stock price.
So who do you call when you find yourself in that situation?
of course you'd call your rich friend. Duh.
I mean, the one who already owns rockets and a
car company and a social media site, they called Elon.
I'd probably call Elon too.
Hey, Elon. Yo, what's up, man? How you been?
Can I borrow a billion dollars?
So now, picture a CNN executive drawing the same chart.
Box, arrow, box, arrow. Then he writes
Elon at the very top. The marker hits the floor.
Now, back in September, this was just a rumor.
word got out that Paramount Skydance might ask Elon for some money.
The experts laughed.
Impossible. Elon would never. Oh, I never.
So the Ellisons would never. CNN would definitely
never. Narrator, they actually would.
One billion dollars. So Elon wrote that check like he was
tipping a waiter at the Chili's.
And yeah, let's go ahead and be honest, guys. A billion dollars
is probably more than CNN is even worth on its own.
Have you seen their ratings lately? Neither
has anybody else. Now to be fair, we're always fair here.
Elon doesn't own CNN outright.
He owns a big piece of Paramount Skydance
which owns Warner Bros. which owns CNN. So
he's not the boss. He's the boss's boss's boss's boss.
Which is somehow even funnier
than that.
Life lesson kids, be careful who you trash on live TV.
One day you might actually sign
your boss's boss's paycheck.
Real quick, think of the one person in your life who has
had CNN playing in the kitchen every single morning
for a good 20 years, same chair, same
coffee mug, same face when you mention Elon,
go ahead and send them this video here, don't
even say a word, no caption, no emojis,
just hit send, let them click that video and let
the video do the talking and watch their face,
oh, oh, they're gonna have some words.
The new owners, they want two things,
spend less and make the stock go up, okay, so you
know what that means.
Picture CNN headquarters on Monday morning,
the elevator dings, cardboard boxes everywhere,
whole bunch of sad, long faces,
employees carrying their ---- out to the curb.
I mean, c'mon, somebody's hugging a desk plant
and a world's best anchor mug, a security
badge beeps red, the doors stay shut, oh yeah,
that means yo badge has been deactivated,
you no longer work here, sir and ma'am.
This is not chaos, folks.
This is a mostly peaceful restructuring. Fiery, but mostly
peaceful. Oh, and here's the delicious part.
Some of the people that are carrying these boxes,
they spent years calling Elon Musk a danger to democracy.
Yes, on air, a danger to democracy
with dramatic music in the background, with,
of course, a red breaking banner. I mean,
nothing makes it more official than that.
Now they're in the parking lot Googling how to start
a podcast karma doesn't knock folks karma sends
a calendar invite subject line a quick chat 15
minutes bring your badge so meet kara swisher
not to be confused with swisher sweet tech journalist
cnn host uh professional elon critic she spent years explaining
to america exactly what's wrong
with elon musk and then she found out oh did she fafo
who her new boss's boss's boss's boss was
Oh, and just like that, guys, she was gone.
Packed her stuff up out the door faster than
the CNN fact check gets updated. But she didn't leave quietly.
Oh, no. On her way out, she said
Elon should be in jail.
And she warned him about what's coming if Democrats take back power.
Now, let that sink in, guys.
The midterms are about, what, 10 days away? And she just told
you out loud what she thinks is at stake.
Thanks for the honesty, Kara. Really very helpful.
So how did Elon respond?
A long rant?
A legal threat?
No, two words.
Message received.
Under Kamala Harris, he might be in jail right now, right?
He is correct.
And that's not because she's some avenging fury.
It's because there's a lot
of questions around different companies of his.
If Donald Trump loses the House and Senate, I would worry.
I'd be worried if I were him, you know, no matter how rich he is.
There were all these agencies,
some of which he put a knife in and killed in the doge,
many of whom were investigating him.
he stopped like a half a dozen investigations of his various companies
so they're going to start
investigating again you think he's not on the list he's
at the top of that list donald trump
obviously is at the top in his family
but elon musk is right up there for that and you have to
he knows what's coming like he's not stupid like
of all the many things you can say about him is he
he has a very big sense of fate and i think it's coming for him
and real hard and if you know your
history. Then those two words should pretty much
make California very nervous. Flashback to 2020.
California picks a fight with Elon Musk. Lockdown rules.
Factory fights. Politicians wagging their
fingers. Elon posts two words. Message received.
California laughed. What's he going to do? Move?
Yes. Yes, he was. Tesla packed up its headquarters
and drove it straight to Texas. SpaceX rockets
started blasting off from Texas and Florida.
X, well, X moved its headquarters out to billions
of dollars, thousands of jobs,
waving goodbye in the rearview mirror. California is still
checking the couch cushions for that money.
They ain't gonna find it. Oh, and let's not forget
about Twitter, guys. They literally sued Elon Musk
to force him to buy the company. And then
after he bought it, they cried like he was the bad guy.
This is like begging somebody to marry you
and then calling the cops at the wedding.
Elon Musk has both tried to acquire and walk away
from acquiring Twitter. Here's how we got here.
April 4th, a regulatory filing reveals that Elon
Musk has rapidly become the largest Twitter shareholder.
April 14th. In an SEC filing and
accompanying tweet, Musk says he will buy out stockholders
in a cash deal and take Twitter
private. The offer, valued at $43 billion,
is a 54% premium over the price in January.
May 17th. After Musk
and Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal have it out on Twitter,
Musk tweets he won't proceed unless Twitter can prove bots
are less than 5% of its users.
July 8th, Elon Musk backs out of the deal,
saying in a filing that Twitter made misleading
representations over the bot's issue.
July 12th, Twitter sues Musk to force him to complete the deal.
Musk countersues.
October 4th, after a trove of Musk's inner circle texts
are revealed in court filings,
Musk revives his bid at the original offer price,
potentially avoiding a courtroom fight.
October 6th. The Delaware Chancery Judge pauses the court case,
giving the parties more time to complete a deal.
An agreement is reached ahead of the deadline.
Musk will own Twitter.
Now, here's the kicker.
Word is, Paramount has been eyeing the exit from California too.
Message received, indeed. Now, I know you guys remember October
2022. Elon Musk strolls into Twitter headquarters carrying
a kitchen sink. An actual kitchen sink,
probably swung by Lowe's or Home Depot on the way in,
grinning like a kid on Christmas morning.
Then he cleans house. Oh, roughly 8 out of 10 employees gone.
The experts absolutely panicked.
Twitter will crash. Servers will melt.
Civilization will end by Tuesday. Narrator,
it did not crash. Turns out,
a whole lot of those people were, let's just say,
optional. They weren't doing a whole lot
of anything in there. And then Elon Musk opened
the vault and released the Twitter files, emails,
messages, receipts, everything the old bosses
swore didn't exist. Now, to be very clear,
Twitter files are still locked tight. Elon's an investor
here, not the guy that's holding the keys for now.
You might have heard of the Twitter files.
Elon Musk opened up some of Twitter's internal documents
to Bari Weiss and Matt Taibbi,
independent reporters to let us all know what was inside.
They include what we already knew,
but some juicy bits like Twitter employees
admitting President Trump didn't break any
Twitter rules, but they still kicked him off.
However, the biggest thing we learned from the
Twitter files is that Elon Musk is out for Elon Musk.
Big surprise. Democrats, of course, say
he's a white supremacist, bringing out the worst
in free thought on Twitter. Elon Musk has officially
taken over Twitter. And although he claims
to promote free speech, what he really wants is
for racist language and attacks to happen without consequence.
Then, of course, there's Republican
pundits in New York who say he's a patriot for free speech.
And he is now evening the playing
ground of other pundits from the right to all mouth off together.
Twitter became the new turf
for people to the left of Che Guevara's ghosts.
The laws were open to their interpretation,
so they twisted him and like a NASCAR race
the turns only went in one direction but unlike NASCAR
white men weren't a favorite to win you watch this show for reality
so let's break this down
the twitter files prove musk way overpaid
for twitter 44 billion dollars was crazy the company
cannot even cover its debt service he's trying
to make twitter relevant again by tweeting by
trolling. There's no advertising left on Twitter.
And he's trying to get conservatives to trust
Twitter again. Musk is out for Musk.
The Twitter files are interesting to journalists, but they
largely prove what we already knew.
Twitter employees hated Trump and held him to a ridiculous
double standard. They knew it. We knew it.
One of the internal communications released by Musk,
the biggest question is whether a tweet like
this one this morning from Trump, which isn't a
rule violation on its face,
is being used to coded incite violence and incite further violence. Of
course, Twitter kicked Trump off for this tweet.
75,000 great American patriots who voted for me
in American First make America great again.
We'll have a giant voice long into the future.
They will not be disrespected
or treated unfairly in any way, shape or form.
That was on January 8th. Trump got kicked off.
Yet Iran's leader called for Israel's to be
eradicated. And the Malaysian prime minister said Muslims have
a right to kill millions of French
people. They stayed on Twitter.
Here's former Congressman Trey Gowdy on Fox News explaining
why Musk smoking guns are yes, important,
but they're just not that interesting.
I hate to be an outlier,
but a group of Democrats showing preference for a Democrat
and suppressing Republicans, it's just not breaking news to me. I mean,
the New York Times and Politico have been doing it for decades.
But if you work at CNN
and you've ever written a nasty email about Elon,
you might wanna hit delete and then empty your trash bin.
And this time, somebody actually get
that man a trash can bigger than the sink.
Here's a simple question folks,
6th graders can answer, it's kind of simple.
If you're just reporting the truth,
why does it matter who owns the building?
I mean, think about it, right?
If your job is faxed, you would really shrug
and just keep on reading the teleprompter.
The weather doesn't change because the owner changed,
but they're running for the exits.
This kind of tells you everything you need to know.
And honestly, firing them is a little too easy.
Here's a better idea.
Make them stay.
Yeah, make them finish every day
of their contracts reading plain, boring facts.
Live every night, no spin, no smirk, picture
the faces, guys, eye twitching, voice cracking today
the economy improved, yeah, must-see TV, guys
and so now picture the loyal CNN viewer 20 years in
same recliner, same coffee mug, one morning they kind
of flip it on and hear the facts, they're
like, what the... what is this crap? This is not news, folks
this is whiplash. Picture the proud Tesla
owner, co-exist bumper sticker, reusable straw,
that warm smug feeling of saving the planet
one charging station at a time,
every Tesla made Elon richer.
And that money actually helped Elon buy a piece of CNN.
So you didn't really save the planet,
you kind of really bought Elon Musk a news network
somewhere as Subaru is honking in rage.
Meanwhile, Paramount Skydance is now one
of the biggest streamers on Earth.
Oh, and Netflix?
Netflix's stock has been sliding after stuffing politics
in the kids' cartoons, Go Woke,
Go Broke.
You guys remember that interview, right?
A reporter looks Elon dead in the eyes and says,
London is safer than any American city.
Any.
Well, Elon doesn't blink.
I support normal people, secure borders,
safe cities, sensible spending, which one of those
is far right?
Oh, and then the trick, guys.
Read people an old Obama speech, tell them Trump said it,
and then watch them call it extremist.
Now, he tells her she lives in a bubble
and offers her a tour of Britain.
Now, look at Paris.
Look at France.
That interview aged like gas station sushi.
You support not just the populist right, but the far right.
In fact, very fringe parties in some countries.
No, I support the normal people.
Okay.
What do you call the far right, falsely?
You think is the normal person.
Okay.
Yes.
Literally, you could go back 10 or 15 years,
and these policies were completely normal.
In fact, one of the tricks that I think is funny,
one of the things that's quite funny
is to take a speech from Obama and Hillary
and then go to someone
who's sort of on what I call the lunatic left
and say, what do you think of the speech by Trump?
They're like, oh, wow, he's the worst person ever.
But actually, that was a speech by Obama.
Or actually, that was a speech by Hillary.
Literally.
No, I agree that the center of gravity in this country has shifted.
Certainly, the Democratic Party shifted to the left.
But that's not what I'm talking about.
I'm talking about people like Rupert Lowe.
You're fringe right.
Please.
It's actually just normal people.
It's just normal people.
It's just normal people.
And here are the principles.
And tell me, which of these sound terrible?
That we should have secure borders.
That we should have safe cities.
That we should have sensible spending.
Which of those three are far-right fringe?
I would like to just admonish you and the media
for the absurd characterization of the far-right.
It is false and misleading and nonsense.
Please keep this part in.
We'll keep all of this in.
Don't cut this part.
Let me push back on that.
Let me push back on that.
Because it is nonsense.
Elon, you have, what is it, close to 250 million followers on X.
yeah you say things like popular guy quote civil war
in britain is inevitable just a question yes
when were you last in the uk um a few years ago exactly
so so i live there i'm there the whole
time that is nonsense you live in a twisted existence
no i don't actually and the numbers
also disprove what you say what numbers all
the numbers about crime london is a much safer city
than any city in the united states violent crime
in the UK is not where you think it is in fact
coming down you you have painted and because you have
so many followers so many Americans believe
it a kind of view that Europe
and the UK are kind of you know overrun with terrifying Muslim
immigrants there's rape on every corner there's
a sort of civilizational destruction said any of
those things if you have uh a large uh
and growing rapidly growing uh group of people whose beliefs
are antithetical to Western beliefs,
at some point there will be a reckoning.
They will try to implement their views
and those who oppose it will oppose it.
And that's what you call civil war.
And obviously, this is the trend.
And you absolutely do live in a cloistered existence.
And if you'd like, we can go on a tour of Britain.
Sure.
I'd be very happy to come on a tour of Britain.
And you'll see for yourself.
If you come see my country that I live in all the time
and you haven't been to a few years ago.
I've been there literally a hundred times.
So first order of business, new name, E&N.
That's right.
Elon News Network, XNN, ANN, the American News Network,
or maybe just call it what it's been for years.
How about TDS?
Yeah, the dream lineup.
Maria Bartiromo at the anchor desk, Scott Jennings in prime time,
and Nick Shirley with his own show.
How about that, guys?
Meanwhile, Abby Phillip, Anderson Cooper, Jake Tapper,
and Caitlin Collins might want to go ahead
and reread their contracts a little slowly.
Ted Turner? Oh, Ted Turner would be proud.
Your turn, guys. What would you rename it? Who gets APM? Drop it below.
So first, Twitter. Now a piece of CNN.
YouTube, Disney, Hollywood, ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC,
and The View are all quietly checking who's buying stock this week.
Well, folks, the people
who mocked Elon for years now work under him and the midterms
are 10 days out.
What a time to be alive, guys.
If this made you smile, hit the like button on the way out
and subscribe because the clean
up is just getting started.
We'll see you next time.
