Valley home with its own art gallery l Cool House

Welcome back. So this morning's cool house is truly a work of art, a mid-century modern home with its own art gallery and on one side of the house, it's just gorgeous and a one of a kind bathtub with a view. It's this morning's cool house. Take a look. And today's cool house brings us to a beautiful one of a kind home. This is Shawna Glazier and Brittany Williamson. Ladies, nice to see you. Thanks. Yeah, what a spectacular property this is. From the moment you ride down into kind of like that front driveway area, what part of town are we in? Yeah, so we're at the top of Mummy Mountain right now in Paradise Valley. We're at Hummingbird Residence, also known as the Townsend Residence. It's one of Arizona's most renowned architects, Will Bruder designed this property. What year was this home built? Originally built in 1997, and then it was remodeled by Jack Barlow and Rob Gaspard in around 2012 to 2014. How would you describe this home to someone who's never been here? This is a published home. It's modern first and foremost. It really is a piece of art that is part of the desert and it really just brings the light in throughout the day. The light changes as the desert changes. All right, let's take a look. A few steps down that we take into the living room space, you get a really good idea of how modern this home really is. You do, yeah. It's the living room that really helps you understand the scale and the geometry of this place and how the interior, the glass connects you to the interior, to the exterior, to all the McDowell Mountains. Really special place. There are so many really unique works of art on the walls. And in this hallway, it leads you to the office space. I'm seeing a theme with the circular items. Definitely. So this house was basically designed around these five circles. So if you were to view it from overhead, you would see the five circles. So this office, it actually has circular custom-made stainless steel shelving. So it's very livable too. It's not just a piece of art, but it is made to use and to live. And actually the table behind us was also designed as well. On the other side of the house, you have this great wall. It's like a blank canvas and it's perfect. It's an art gallery. It is. It's literally an art gallery. So both of these walls make up this hallway that leads to the primary suite. And they have art lighting and everything. It's amazing. Here in the bedroom, all that natural light. Yes. So the arc of glass that makes up the back wall of this home, extends into this space. And then we make our way into the bathroom and this bathtub, I don't know if we've ever seen anything like it. It is very unique, for sure, it is made of acrylic and there is the little peek-a-boo spot that you have a little mountain view right out of the bathroom. we finish our tour here on the courtyard of this home and what a special place this is you're like one with nature you are yeah we're in this beautiful courtyard you have access from the primary and then one of the secondary bedrooms back here what i love about this courtyard is this illuminated wall here which was designed by artist named Pratt and it completely changes throughout the day as the sun changes. It's made of resin and it's just really a statement. It's beautiful. I think it's really special to see how art can be part of the architecture and not just that inside of it. Yeah, and this home has views from all sides as well. The home really is a work of art. It is. Yeah. Ladies, thank you for the tour today. This is one cool house.
