An NHL insider has just dropped a bombshell new Dylan
Larkin trade report as multiple new insiders have revealed
that all signs are pointing to Dylan Larkin accepting a trade,
surprisingly, to a team that is not on his 10-team no-trade list.
We're going to break down exactly who that team is,
what it would take to get Dylan Larkin to be traded to that team,
and does Dylan Larkin even want to be traded?
a lot of people are talking about we're going
to break that all down in this episode of Red
Wings Digest and much more guys
but before we get into all of that a quick reminder to hit that
subscribe button we've noticed that a large percentage
of you guys who watch these videos
are not subscribed to the channel
so if you want to stay up to date with everything that's happening
with the Red Wings make sure to go down below hit
that free subscribe button and Mark and I will
keep you updated with everything
that's happening every single day on the Red Wings and of course
they play tonight against the Edmonton Oilers we'll get
into that but Elliot Friedman dropped
a brand new trade report on Dylan Larkin
and he outlines and I think this is very interesting
because it plays into what Chris Johnson said last week
and things are starting to turn and
it could be some negotiations from the Montreal Canadiens point
of view through the media but
Friedman went on to say Montreal is not on his list
of 10 teams that we covered last week obviously
expanded the list and here's my theory it almost has
to be reverse engineered so Friedman goes on
to say and Mark I'm very curious for your thoughts
on this too Montreal is actually going to if for
this to work Montreal would have to call Detroit
and again this is just him speculating um because
Larkin's not saying I want to directly go
to that team it's not a team that I have on the list that
you can go call so Montreal would have to call Detroit
and say this is what we want to do we
want Larkin this is who we trade for him
and then Detroit would have to go to Larkin and say would
you waive to go to Montreal we have a trade on the table
so mark what do you make of that new
report because i think it actually makes a lot
of sense where if you bring a tabled trade to dylan
larkin and say it's to montreal you have
a great opportunity to win maybe there's a crack in the
door from a couple weeks ago with all the cheers
and chants of we want larkin in montreal i mean
montreal's in on a lot of players they're a team
that wants to get competitive they are competitive
And they want to move out prospects
and picks to add players like Dylan Larkin to the organization.
And like you said, that is a fan base that was doing
a lot of work for them when they were cheering.
They were loud.
They showed the energy in that building.
Dylan Larkin is a guy that obviously wants to win.
He got a taste of winning when they went to the Olympics.
And now a guy that wants to find that new chapter.
And teams with Montreal,
a team that just came out of a rebuild recently.
They're a competitive team.
They have the pieces.
they don't need to shell out players
on their main roster of course Detroit is going to ask
for impact players coming back they're going to get
the top dollar for Dylan Larkin but with the
way people are talking with Montreal I think it's
a matter of time before Ken Hughes calls over and
speaks to of course our interim general manager maybe he has
to speak directly to the owner at
this point but at the end of it Montreal is interesting
and I genuinely think there's going
to be a lot picking up especially the farther you go
into the season the farther Montreal climbs in
the standings and i guess it really comes down
to if dylan larkin truly just wants to win or if this
is a ploy because he wants to go play with his buddies
in florida yeah i do wonder about that
too because there's a couple teams on the list
that like if you're the player you have to know
that the Florida Panthers can't trade
for you right like it literally would not work with your
salary and the Red Wings are not retaining salary
for that many years that wouldn't make any sense
now why i think it's very interesting
and i outlined it a little bit ago a few minutes ago
this report from Chris Johnson last week has me thinking now
with this new report from Elliot
Friedman that maybe he could end up somewhere
that's not on his team 10 team trade list right
maybe he can end up in Montreal
because Montreal goes we really want Dylan Larkin and the sentiment
by the way from the Red Wings point of view the last little
while is they're telling teams how
badly do you want Larkin because it doesn't really
feel like you want him that badly with some of
these trade returns right so if Montreal
were to be like you know what yes we want Dylan Larkin now
Nick Suzuki's out with that injury
as well he's missing some time we need a center anyway okay
let's put a trade together take it to Dylan see what he says
and i feel like the door could be
creaked open just a little bit on that and again
his contract there would have to be some uh you
know finagling going on in terms
of you know moving money around from the Montreal Canadiens
point of view too they do still have like quite
a bit of cap space to to bring on that 8.7 they
would only have to move you know four
or five million dollars out on contracts something like
that and that wouldn't be a huge deal
because you know the Red Wings are looking for a roster player
anyway in a trade so they're looking
for that and then they're looking for young centers which is
something that you know we can kind of dive into now
because Elliot Friedman and other insiders have
reported that the Red Wings in a trade return
for Dylan Larkin are looking for younger centers that
also takes you to Minnesota and Daniel Girava as well
but you can see from Elliot Friedman I think
the line has moved for two reasons number one
the great reaction from the Montreal fans a couple
weeks ago and number two because i think Larkin
is honestly trying with the way that he's expanding
his list to get this to happen to get
a trade facilitated as soon as possible so that is the
interesting thing Montreal i talked about this couple weeks ago
and some people called me crazy
Mark i don't know if you feel any differently Montreal
is the perfect trade partner they need
a center exactly like Dylan Larkin exactly
his age to bring experience to bring you know the
skill set that he brings into their core group right now to try
and win and Montreal has the
as the exact assets that the Detroit Red Wings
are looking for in a trade like this
the funny thing is looking at Montreal
a young team they have more playoff experience than Dylan
Larkin does but looking at that of course bringing
in a guy that's pushing into his 30s a guy that's
of course going to join a team
and be that perfect two CBs high Nick Suzuki there's no way in hell that
Montreal and their front office
are not sitting there saying hey it's a matter of that list
expands or maybe that's a phone call you get
on calls with his agent you maybe speak to Dylan
Larkin you try to sell him a selling point
and I genuinely think teams are going to start doing
that as you get farther in the season people
are dealing with injuries Nick Suzuki for example with
the Montreal Canadiens can they go a long stretch of games without him
or is there a panic mode now
with Kent Hughes going out to say hey we got
to give Detroit a call Sean Horkoff please do whatever
it takes to get us put on the list put up to 11 team lists
but this is now going to get interesting
because with Dylan Larkin expanding the list it
was a very small list now New Jersey I think is
hell of a team right now and interesting
with Connor Hellebuyck one of his best friends just
being traded there Jack Hughes is there another good friend
of Dylan Larkin so I think that team
is going to pick up a little more if they're getting active
but now looking at that Montreal
is the pieces Detroit's trying to move out a former captain
and I think Darius it's going to
come down to the wire but it feels like a trade
that needs to happen before Christmas and maybe
Dylan Larkin feels like it has happened sooner
and you bring up the New Jersey Devils I think
that's pretty interesting now with Connor Hellebuyck as well
and obviously uh Quinn Hughes possibly in
the mix you got Jack Hughes and Luke Hughes over there as well
and Chris Johnson went on to say
that I haven't heard anything credible
that they're very much in the mix for Dylan Larkin here but
beyond obviously knowing it's a place he's open
to going to and they are on his 10 team trade list
right so that's pretty interesting
and again Connor Hellebuyck just got traded there um they
can move some pieces around they can make it work as well
because they're looking to make some big
moves right they're looking to to really shake up
that team it hasn't been working for them
the last couple years as well
but uh mark let's move on and guys let us know how you feel
about all of the new reports on Dylan Larkin in the comments below
but very quickly before we wrap
up here um big game against the Edmonton Oilers tonight
the oilers are coming in uh still hot
they lost at the Toronto Maple Leafs on um a Saturday
but they're still coming in very hot
Dylan Larkin has been anything but consistent
so far this season I mean started started hot
has been not great the rest of the way uh a lot
of people are talking about trading Gibson uh if
you take a look at the Atlantic Division uh
not too bad I know that you know they're seventh but
you're three points back basically of a uh playoff spot
or four points back essentially of you know
being right there and in the mix
so everybody in the Atlantic Division is definitely still
in the mix this season but mark
do you have any final thoughts before this big game against the
Edmonton Oilers who are uh eight two and one on the season
so far and hold the league's best power
play but one of the worst penalty kills with this it's
a game that you want to go in you want to get
a win streak going of course you lost your last game
but like you outlined this is a team that's
in the mix of course it doesn't look good being
in seventh compared to first but nonetheless your
team that's still pushing you have a lot of guys
that are showing up a lot of young guys showing a
lot of great potential and heading into Edmonton I think it's
a great test for a team and a team
in Edmonton that's going to be hungry to get back in the win column
so this could genuinely spark
I think a tiny bit of a run for Detroit
and honestly I think this is a team call me crazy
that can go out and prove a point tonight against the Oilers
and a power play that needs to get
going a penalty kill that's one of the worst
in the league for the Red Wings although the penalty
kill on the other side of the rink isn't that good either
but the power play is going to be a real
problem uh for the Red Wings tonight McDavid has
an assist streak of eight games going on right now
and he's been unbelievable on special teams as well
so there's going to be a lot to handle if
the Red Wings drop another game here especially after losing
the Calgary that would be real tough
to stomach but ultimately we'll see what happens
but guys let us know in the comments how you feel
about these new reports from Chris Johnson Elliot Friedman
on Dylan Larkin do you see him going to
Montreal i personally think that it's
a perfect trade scenario if he's open to going there they
need another center they have the assets that you want
in a trade it could be a match made in heaven
