The Jays have a MASSIVE decision on their hands...
Oct 29, 2026
This was inevitable as following what has
been a spring training filled with ups and
downs for various players,
the Jays are now forced into an impossible decision surrounding
a fan favorite player and following what has
been an absolutely disappointing spring training
to say the least thus far.
Some new reports have dropped revealing some
very interesting information surrounding
the future of this guy
and it was inevitable that we're going to have this conversation.
We're going to write down exactly
who I'm talking about and discuss what it means going
forward, but not only that, we do have a ton of other Jays updates.
as we are approaching opening day now 17-ish
a couple weeks away from the beginning two and a
half of the regular season but before we get
into it if you're part of the percentage you aren't
subscribed to the channel very quick reminder hit
the subscribe button you guys have been
an absolute beast of support it truly means
the world to me folks let's dive right into it we
have a lot to go over today and an article dropped
and i've been talking about this for a while and
i think it's time now to kind of discuss it let's
spring training play out a little bit but you can
see this here blue jays could afford
to deal away struggling outfielder in position log jam
toronto has a solid outfield
and after a rough spring campaign they might keep their options
open for a trade now i'm not going to talk about
a specific trade in this video i don't want to
talk about the player and what his future looks like
with the team this is of course davis schneider
because if you've been watching my channel for a while
a couple months ago i had kiki matheson on
maybe a month ago time flies
and i you know it's hard to keep track of time with how crazy the
spring training is but kiki matheson said keep
an eye out for davis schneider in spring training
if he doesn't perform he might be on the outside looking
in especially with how Eloy Jimenez is
performing and folks all of a sudden now you have articles like
this dropping talking about how
every team has a weakness the Jays of course already got away
or gave away Joey Loperfito
let him go and now Loperfito might not be the only player
in the outfield worth dealing away
and a player like Davis Schneider would be valued
with another organization now last year he hit for
237 folks I don't know if any of you guys have noticed
this he's hitting .058 in spring training
he is one for 19 one for 19 and i was doing some research
and of course i've been watching
this spring training games
and you know i've been focusing on the other players you know josh
Kasovich has been shining a little bit you know addison berger rj streckman
of the world and i googled
i was like okay what's you know davis schneider stats
and AI shout out to Gemini i said one for 19 and
i said let me double check this because that seems
a little bit crazy it is true he's one for 19 in
spring training all of a sudden now there's
a real world where they have to start questioning
his future with the team but also whether
or not he's going to make it or he's going to start in
triple a this year and of course with Eloy Jimenez playing
as good as he has been or did in spring
training now of course is with he's
at the at the World Baseball Classic they are going to have some
tough decisions to make and again Kiki Matheson brought it
to light feel free to check that video
out if after you've watched this one
in its entirety it's from a little bit ago just type
in you know MLB insider and it'll come up on my channel it is uh
or exclusive MLB insider that's
the title it is a wild point now
because there's a very real chance where he is not like he's not
performing at all in spring training yes it's just spring training
but this is a guy that needs to
perform in spring training you have guys like
Eloy Jimenez Josh Casovich who's playing really
well RJ Schreck yes Schneider had a great year last year
but it was within a very sheltered role
and I don't know now you know with the outfield log jam
if you want to call it that I mean at
left field you have Jesus Sanchez you have Nathan
Lucas you have Miles Straw Schneider still
projected to be 16% if they want a lefty masher
which Davis Schneider is not by the way he is not
that even though people think he is Eloy Jimenez
is probably a better option you look at second
base where he's expected to play a lot
do they prefer maybe Josh Casovich or someone else to
come up or maybe they keep Schneider around
to play him at second base but you have other guys
who can play second base and you can see Casovich
is projected for 1% you have Eloy Jimenez you can
come up and play a little bit you have I'm sure
some other guys as well when you move things
around all of a sudden and I'm not saying
that David Schneider definitely going to be gone but
it was inevitable that we were going to be having
this conversation right because and it's inevitable
that i think at some point he may be on the way out now
that's not confirmed yet he's he obviously
has a great eye he's going to benefit
from the challenge system last year you can see here put
up a 1.3 WAR like it was fine
a bit below average defensively he really improved though in left
field it's rough man and i didn't realize how bad it
was and it's a serious problem at this point
that he is hitting only 0.53 now you might
be saying Nick George Springer hit just as bad last
spring and ultimately was fantastic i agree
with that but when you're competing for a spot you have
to perform fairly well in these situations now
they're probably going to give him the benefit
of the doubt they're probably going to start
Eloy Jimenez in Triple-A and see what happens
but it's a question that needs to be talked about now
and it's at a point where they may and
i'm not saying they're going to trade him but if you
have an opportunity to trade him for maybe a
bullpen piece or something like that i personally would
be seriously considering it because you
still have Nathan Lucas who's obviously
a left-handed bat now the one thing going for
Schneider is that you look at the left fielders
Hazuki Sanchez lefty Nathan Lucas lefty right you
don't have the Schneider is the only one
who's a righty there but at the same time you can move
people around you can throw Springer in left field
if you want to like there's a lot of ways to go
about it and again replacing him with Eloy Jimenez seems like
an obvious choice if they want to go
that route David Schneider is a bit
of a better defender than Eloy Jimenez, Eloy Jimenez is a
better hitter at least I'd assume he will be this upcoming year
though he had a couple bad years
dealing with injuries I don't know folks let me know down below
do you want to see David Schneider
gone do you think that this is I don't like any
of us want to see him gone are you concerned about
the one the one for 19, one for 19 in eight games
in spring training crazy stat didn't realize it
was that bad and he's been a guy I've been talking about
for a while I'm telling you guys to keep an
eye out on specifically in spring
because it like doesn't really matter for a lot of players it kind
of does for Mr, uh for Mr Davis Schneider
because you look at some of the things that are happening
elsewhere and let's have a look now I mean you see Berger mashing
in spring training so Vladdy
hit his first WBC home run there yesterday the day before
but I want to dive back into this again
and this was a lineup projection by Mitch Bannon now I'm gonna have
my full lineup projection coming
this week but you can look at it here
and this is of course against righties and it kind of dives
into how you know with Jesus Sanchez around
let's maximize Berger's versatility all these
different things but you look at the way that the team
is currently constructed and I'm not saying
that uh you know I'm not saying
that Schneider should play against righties Schneider had a
better OPS against righties
by a long shot than he did lefties last year so if you're looking at
righty lineups neither of these have Davis Schneider in them
and it's because you have
Jesús Sánchez who mashes righties Varsho
who mashes righties Clement who mashes righties
like all these guys and if you want to talk about it
from a lefty perspective sure you could throw
Davis Schneider in left field he hasn't shown
a consistent ability to hit better against lefties
you're better off with Eloy Jimenez
or even somebody else like maybe an RJ Schreck maybe
somebody in the pipeline who can come up
and actually mash the the role for Davis is slowly
but surely becoming a little bit more bleak
and he kind of needs to get good quickly and if he
turns spring training around sure we can have
this conversation again and we can revisit it
and i'll eat my words but it's uh it's an interesting one
because you have other guys
performing really well and i don't usually take
a ton of stock into these spring training
performances but man oh man there was going
to be a time where this happened and it's a good point
this article makes they got rid of Joey Loperfido
because of the fact that i mean ultimately right
they needed to kind of uh you know trim trim the edges a little bit
but some team would probably
value Davis Schneider and he's still
a very very solid player don't get it wrong 800 ops last year
essentially two years ago i mean his babe ruth here
a thousand rookie year a thousand ops he has
the the you know the intangibles
and the tangibles can he put it together are the Jays the team to do
it i don't know but it was inevitable that we
were going to be having this conversation at some
point here and let me know down below what
your thoughts are on this folks it's a little bit
saddening that Mr. Schneider is potentially going
to be on the way out here i'm not saying a trade
is going to happen right now
but you have to start making serious considerations that he might not
make the opening day roster if Eloy Jimenez gets hot again
when he returns to the WBC but folks
i don't wrap it up let me know down below
your thoughts are do you think i'm you know talking
out of my butt do you think oh Nick they're
definitely going to keep you know Davis Schneider
They're not going to give Eloy a chance.
It might not even be Eloy.
Keegan Matheson, MLB insider for the Jays, said on my channel
there could be even somebody else in
the prospect pool that replaces Davis.
