Now I think we'll get some of that peace.
I mean, I might not ever because my baby's gone.
There's no peace really in that for me.
That is our big story at 5.30 tonight.
A mother remembering her daughter more than a year after her death.
Orlando police say they just arrested her killer.
Marcus Lambert is accused of pulling the trigger.
He was just arrested yesterday.
Larissa Leone has more now from the victim's mother.
I called to my songbird. She had a beautiful voice.
Joanna Ziegler, remembering
her daughter Nevaeh after Orlando police say they found her killer.
It was just so hard. It was just very, very hard.
My baby was still a baby, you know, and she was just hitting adulthood.
She was still a baby. She didn't deserve that.
It all happened in May of last year.
Orlando police were called to a house
on West Livingston Street for a possible shooting.
When they arrived, they found Nevaeh dead from several gunshot wounds.
So when he said it, I just picked up my phone
and started dialing her number, you know, like.
That's not true. I got it wrong
with somebody else's child. It's not my baby, no.
This week, nearly a year and a half after her death,
a breakthrough in the case.
Officers arresting 65-year-old Marcus Lambert
on a second-degree murder charge.
I was just so ecstatic,
even though for these past couple of years I've been hurt.
I haven't been resting in peace.
My baby hasn't been resting in peace.
Investigators have not said what led up
to the shooting or a possible motive.
Joanna says she plans to be at the trial every day.
I think it's going to bring her more peace.
Like, I felt her spirit not at peace, you know?
Like, I feel it all the time.
I've been feeling it for the past couple
of years, so I haven't had any peace either.
You know, my spirit is not at peace.
So how can hers be?
Orlando Police says the investigation is still active.
