Right before break, you saw Stephanie Bertini all
into the holiday spirit, meaning Halloween is tomorrow.
So we want to check back in with Stephanie.
Stephanie, you look great.
The stoop looked great.
Say hello to Christian and tell us what's going on where you are.
So, you know, Antoine,
we see so much creativity all around New York City.
It is Halloween Eve.
And I thought, hey, why not?
Because we are seeing the spirit of the holiday all around.
You know, it's Friday.
So, so many of the kids, they got to dress up today to go to school.
And I think that's why we're really seeing so many costumes.
I mean, if you've been walking around
the streets, you've seen it for sure.
And then, obviously, adults also getting into the spirit.
Now, a big part of the tradition when it comes to Halloween is
is decorating those stoops and look at this spectacle right here.
We are on the Upper West
Side. This one is all done up.
The owner of this townhouse, Hillary Wallace. She's with me right
here. Hillary. Hi. Hi. I mean, compliments on this.
Thank you. This is fantastic. Thank you.
Talk to me about the inspiration for this this year.
So each year we change it.
I don't plan on changing it, but we do.
And I saw this incredible movie called Crimson Peak.
And it just, it wowed me.
And I thought, what great colors to bring to New York City.
So what's supposed to be happening here is this is my gothic mansion.
All right.
And then we have snake pumpkins coming out of the ground,
going around the molded face
pumpkin.
So detailed.
Yeah.
Well, I'm very into detail.
Detail to me creates a really interesting space.
You said every year because you do this every year
and it's not just for Halloween.
Of course I do every year.
I do every year and I do every holiday
because I really love to celebrate holidays.
It brings joy to everybody who comes to New York.
People who are from New York
and it's great for building community and it's fun.
Yeah, I'm getting back to this Halloween this year.
It's going to be a great one because it's on Saturday.
Oh, the weather.
Yes.
I mean, what more can we say about the weather this year?
I'm so excited.
I'm so excited.
And I got to tell you, definitely, yes, you are all about it.
Because when I showed up here today, Antoine, dressed up.
I said, why not?
And she was like, yeah, you're dressed for this?
You loved it, right?
I love it.
You don't come to my stoop unless you're dressed.
That's what she says.
And I'm invited back tomorrow, so I might be here with Zayn.
That would be fun.
When you kind of look at doing this.
Right.
You got a lot of creativity, but you got background too,
because of what you used to do
before you retired. Tell the viewers.
So before I was retired, which I was a very bad retired person,
I did interior design.
I had an interior design firm for a gazillion years and it was great. I
loved it. And, but what I really enjoy now
is doing this because it's out for people to enjoy
and I get to be super creative and I like to,
I love all the colors that I can bring in. And so
This to me, this is great.
That background and interior design helps you do this.
And it helps you because you said every
holiday you're dressing it up every holiday.
I mean, and then each year I'm not changing it this year.
And I change it because I'm like a little cuckoo.
I need to keep moving.
And I love bringing fresh ideas.
And I like things that are tangible and organic.
So you're quite.
All right.
You have a presence online on social media.
People are following you.
Actually, the handle is right here in front of the townhouse.
Thank
Simon Wallace Design.
And you're asking people to tag you because people are coming by.
you so
They're taking pictures.
They're posting.
I want it because it brings good.
It spreads good joy and good energy.
much
That's why I want them to tag these.
It's just it.
Brings delight to people and that's really
the only reason why I do it because it's fun
for
and people like to come here.
I have people been coming here for years who got engaged here who've
joining
had their child's first Halloween here
and I think it's really special. Yeah you really see
us.
the memories unfolding
and look I mean it's about the costumes it's about the spooky fun
but this is really about making memories.
I mean we see those kids it's like I look at my little
one he's seven now every year they grow.
I know you're a mom too so when they were small I'm sure
I'm sure you went through all this.
Oh, my kids love Halloween.
I mean, they like, they're, I've created monsters.
Are they still getting into it with the decorating?
I mean, they're not here anymore.
They're out of the house now, but they get into it.
I've, I've.
Like, mom, what are we doing this year?
They know, they know what they need to do.
And I just think it's great.
And people love it.
We have met people from all over the world.
We have met such incredible people and I really love it.
And what I really, for me, what I like
doing is bringing in a lifestyle.
Like here's our Gothic manor.
Then we have our grave next to it.
So it's, you know, it's a whole.
vibe. Right. And then the lady lights up at night like she's on fire.
So for me, I like to create a story so you can stand out here
for a while and be like, wait a minute, I really feel the energy here.
I know it's so fascinating. And this neighborhood is one
of several across the city where we will see the kids out.
We'll see the adults out. I mean, oh, people in New York go hard.
Like you don't come to New York and not go hard.
So the parents get dressed up the kids.
Yes, we have incredible candy. Very retro. Yeah. So the parents like
How do kids know what fun size bar?
They know.
I got to stop.
I got to stop here tomorrow
because I think it's going to be one of the houses.
But you said, I mean, you're locked and loaded for tomorrow.
You got the job loaded.
Yes.
Ready to go.
I am so ready.
We're going to start at three for the young kids.
I got my outfit ready.
Okay.
I'm going to be going with the Gothic Manor.
All right.
You're going to match?
Of course.
I'm going with the Gothic Manor.
Yes.
And even my husband this year said.
Dress up.
Yeah, I hear Antoine Lewis inside kind of chuckling.
I don't know if he has a question for you.
If he does, I can relay it.
Antoine, I don't see you, but I can hear you.
So, Stephanie, we've been trying to figure out Steph.
We will be here.
So, Stephanie, you are a scarecrow, correct?
I am.
Okay, scarecrow.
Would you ask her what she's planning to go as?
Oh, he wants to know what you're going to be tomorrow.
Well, she gave us a tee.
She said she's going to match this.
Are you going to reveal?
Mm-mm.
First on Channel 5, Fox 5, and on our street.
You can't tell anyone, okay?
I'm going to be the head of my Gothic Manor.
I will be wearing a Gothic Manor big velvet dress
with this beautiful gray hair and this fabulous hat.
There you go. We broke it, Antoine.
She is. Tell her, Stephanie, send her our best wishes
for a happy Halloween, and we will see you when you get back.
And you travel safely, you and Christian.
