Teen fatally shot in the Bronx; NYPD searching for suspects

Antoine, thank you so much for joining us. Yeah, Lisa, good afternoon. We are still making our way to the location in the Bronx where this is happening. But here's what we can tell you, and we can roll video. So this involves a 15-year-old that was shot around 9.30 this morning. And here's what we know so far. Police say that the teenager was shot in the stomach near West 171st Street and Crotona Place. Now, officers got on scene. They found the victim. And instead of calling an ambulance, they assessed the situation and determined that he needed to be driven to St. Barnabas Hospital, which is where they took him. So they put him physically in one of the cars and drove the teenager to the hospital. He was pronounced at St. Barnabas shortly after getting there. So that's what's going on. We're still making our way to the scene still waiting for more concrete suspect information. But preliminarily, what we can tell you is that police right now say that they're possibly looking for three males, possibly teenagers as well, wearing dark clothing, black clothing, at least two, had on surgical masks, the blue surgical masks, and they were last seen fleeing the area. Again, we're talking 171st Street and Cortona Place, yes. So that's what the situation is right now. You talked about, you know, just the impact the shootings have had in this area, you know, across the city, but particularly the Bronx has been really, really hard hit, you know, with that. So we're still making our way there, hoping to find out more information, you know, on this. But this is what we have again right now. Just to recap, 9:30 this morning, a 15-year-old boy was shot near West 171st Street in Cortona Place. Police got on scene, assessed the situation, did not call an ambulance, decided that he needed to be rushed there in the patrol car, and he was pronounced at St. Barnabas. So that's what we have for you, Lisa. And, of course, we'll continue to work this once we get on location and then bring everybody up to speed once we see them at 4 o'clock. And, Antoine, here we go again, which we've heard the description in so many other stories that we've covered, similar tragedies of shootings and that is the suspects all dressed in black with black face masks on and they think that's going to enable them to not show up or be found by NYPD detectives but eventually they do almost all of them get caught and get captured but and we'll be looking to find out too if this was that was the victim was he on his way to school or was he late for school because that's kind of late in the morning for the classes to start I think but so much more information uh to come on this antoine but definitely the whole you've seen this every time you're out on one of these stories it's the whole community suffers when they see a young person like this lose their life yeah absolutely they do and then you know just the community you know just the uh anti-violence disruptors all of the efforts by officials trying to address the the situation trying to find factors to you know not let this become the occurrence that it continues to be you know the incident numbers and stuff like that so yeah you're right we'll see what we can find once we uh get on location lisa all right great antoine thank you so much for uh for pulling over and giving us that report while you're on your way to the scene
