Police are asking for the public's help after
a fatal shooting on the west side.
Fox 26's Angie Rodriguez brings you the latest on that situation.
Houston police say they responded to a call at around 6 this morning
for a shooting right here off of the intersection of Gessner
and West Park. They have confirmed one man is now dead.
They say he appears to be in his late teens or early 20s.
At about 6:15 this morning, HPD was dispatched to a shooting call here
at the West Park and Gessner intersection. Preliminary information
is that a fight broke out and then a shooting after that.
Do you have any information as to any vehicles involved, any suspects?
I know you guys were talking to a couple people.
Correct. We have about seven or eight witnesses
that are being interviewed right now.
As far as what they're saying, I'm not sure at this point.
Two other guards are being interviewed also as well.
Could you explain kind of maybe why this is a really large scene?
I mean, it spans across the street here too.
Correct. What we're being told is the fight happened in the parking lot
and then a shooting happened.
And generally when a shooting happens, people run.
And, you know, he was struck and then ran and then fell.
Now, there was at least eight evidence markers here on scene.
As this investigation continues,
part of West Park Drive is still closed.
Anyone with information is urged to call Houston Police
or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
