Canada's Pereira, Michaud reflect on their gold-medal performance at Skate Canada International

Well, the champs are here. Congratulations, Leah and Trent. Listen, as I was watching it, I thought everything that you two have poured into this sport came through tonight. Trust, patience, and poise. Congratulations. Thank you. Thank you. Take us through it, Leah. You know after such a strong short program performance yesterday we were so pleased and we just wanted to carry that momentum through to today as well and I think although we're at a competition filled with lots of great competitors we almost want to see the bigger picture in terms of competing so we wanted to really compete strongly for ourselves today and of course for the gold medal but also just for our future as a team this season and Trent I know you want to get used to skating last because that means you're in that pole position how unique and different and all of the things that go into that was that experience. Yeah, we've done it before so it's just remember you know what we need to do and figuring out like we're still in a little bit of an experimental mindset when it comes to that stuff of what we want to do and what makes us feel good when we get back out there But we like being in that position, we like doing that, so we're just going to continue to keep doing that. Listen, it's your first Skate Canada medal, a gold medal in Kelowna. It's sweeter at home, isn't it, Leah? Totally, 100%. Just to have all the Canadian flags in the audience and everybody on their feet for both performances is something so special and, you know, something we'll always remember. And Trent, on your favorite holiday, happy Halloween. Happy Halloween. What a way to celebrate tricks and treats here from you today. Yeah, no, it's awesome. Happy Halloween, everybody back home. And thank you if you skipped watching Candy to watch us. And if you didn't and you're watching us afterwards, hope you had a great Halloween. And we're just very excited to bring a gold medal home for Canada on home soil. Outstanding, you two. Go get your medal. Thrilled for you. Congratulations. Thank you.
