Got some good news for everyone.
Caroline, the worst of the
rowdy weather is over with.
Yes, there are still some downpours out there,
but we've actually been taken out of
the little bit of severe storm threat.
That parts of the area we're in,
including Livingston.
So that is some good news, however.
If you're south and east of Houston, there are still some downpours out
there and even around the Houston area, we do still have some showers.
But overall, the weather is improving and really over the next one
to two hours, it improves even more. But you can clearly see
a cold front slicing right across southeast Texas.
It's right over the Houston area and moving off to the east.
And we even still have a few thunderstorms out there in between Baytown
and League City, but they are below severe levels. But
Doesn't mean that they won't disrupt you
if you're trying to get to the polls to vote.
So if you're in the Woodlands, College Station,
Conroe, Huntsville, the rain is gone.
You've got the cooler, drier air that will
be building in for this evening and tonight.
And you won't have to worry about any rain,
but I do want to hop down to where we do still have
some issues with lightning, wet roads, downpours,
and we do still have a storm bubbling up right
around Seabrook just east of League City now
and just east of Dickinson. And this one is going to
be pushing right over Galveston Bay into Chambers County,
but right now it is still impacting the
city of Seabrook. So if you're about to go out and vote there,
you want to be extra careful because
The lightning is still coming out of this, that can be dangerous.
Rain is super heavy, indicated by those dark red colors that you see.
And this line of downpours extends up just to the east of La Porte
and in eastern parts of Baytown.
In and around Houston, we do still have some shower action.
That's a little heavier on the east side,
but nothing severe, no lightning.
We've got a downpour south of Sugar Land, another near Pear Land.
But overall, not seeing anything too concerning at those locations.
As we look up towards Liberty County,
right in the city of Liberty and just west,
There are some showers that are going
to be impacting you for the next 30 to 45 minutes.
All right, let's hop farther to the south
and west down around Lake Jackson, Angleton,
right along Highway 288.
There are some decent showers still coming down there. You can see
just south of Sugar Land
and about to push into Sugar Land right around Highway 6. We've got a
little bit of rain there as well,
but by far the strongest storm and the heaviest rain just
to the east of League City.
So certainly keep that in mind if you're about to head out.
I know a lot of you are maybe looking
for some more impressive rain totals with today's front.
Maybe your yard needed a little rain.
Of course, we didn't want things
to be too crazy since it's election day,
but we picked up anywhere from a trace
of rain up to around one and a half inches.
So some of the big winners in the rain department,
places like Liberty, Baytown, La Porte, Jersey Village,
One to one and a half inches, but that's probably going to be about it.
You may add a little bit more to that total, but the rain, I think over
the next one to two hours will be rolling on out, pushing east.
So we do have some showers and storms still out there,
but they are in the process of moving out.
As they roll out, cooler,
drier air rolls in and tomorrow is going to be delightful.
If you have some extra time and you can get outside,
my recommendation would be to soak up the sun
and enjoy the fall chill that is on the way behind this front.
It's going to be beautiful tomorrow, lots of sun,
low humidity, and we will have another shot for some rain,
some showers back in the area by Thursday evening.
Right now, though, the clouds are still pretty thick across Houston.
There are a few showers.
In and around the Houston area, especially on the east side,
like I said, but right around the Galleria area,
it looks like things are starting to dry out.
You can see the traffic is definitely thick,
but here is the thing to note.
We were close to 90 degrees earlier today and we're already down to 76.
That wind has now shifted from the south
to the north at seven miles per hour.
So that is a great indication that the cold front has rolled through.
So no longer are we under a threat for severe weather.
We already have the cooler temps rolling in and it
is going to get even cooler for tonight. In fact,
down to 74 in Channel View, 76 in Missouri City, 73 in Sugar Land.
So we are feeling great. Still 80 though. Close
So, there's still some warm air out there ahead of this front,
but overall, those temperatures are quickly cooling down.
In fact, we're like 14 degrees cooler right now than we were yesterday
in places like Conroe, Tomball, about 13 degrees cooler in Katy.
And you can clearly see that wind blowing in from the north now
at around 15 miles per hour with those gusts for Katy and Sugar Land.
So I think this front is going to be through
the entire area by seven o'clock
and you can see the cooler temperatures starting
to roll in and all the showers
and storms will quickly push out. I want to show you
that with our high resolution futurecast.
This is 7 pm and notice the heaviest
downpours are just offshore off to the south and east of Galveston.
We may still have a shower or downpour lingering right
along the coast at seven, but most of the rain is gone. So if
you're going to the polls to vote,
5 p.m., 6 p.m., 7 p.m., most of you won't have
to worry about much rain at all, especially by 7.
5 to 6 p.m., there will still be a few showers
in between Houston and Galveston.
By 10 o'clock, the rain is completely gone, and we'll just be enjoying
that cooler air, that drier air that will be rushing in overnight.
So, time right now is 4.16 p.m.
You still got through.
The rest of this hour, you got the 5 to 6 p.m. hours,
6 to 7 o'clock to get in line.
I think as long as you're in line by 7,
you will be able to get in and vote.
And weather should not be super crazy.
It shouldn't be much of an issue for you.
So 5 p.m., temps around 74.
We still got a few downpours, mainly east and southeast of Houston.
6 p.m., the rain is quickly fading.
You get to enjoy that nice northwesterly breeze.
Temps around 73.
Of course, it'll be dark by then because the daylight savings.
Getting to an end over
the weekend 7 PM we're drying out temperatures in the low 70s so
weather impacts are quickly starting
to decrease here's the good side of this as this front
moves in we got a cool crisp morning in store
for tomorrow temperature starting off in the
low 50s in Huntsville 53 55 in Tomball 56 for you in the Woodlands
and 58 in Houston
59 in Sugar Land.
That's just the beginning of it.
I think we've got several mornings in the 50s.
Afternoon temps are going to be feeling great.
High temperatures in the middle to upper 70s.
And we do get one completely dry day for Wednesday.
And then Thursday, we're going to have
to watch another system that is going to be rolling in.
So I do want to finish with this graphic because it's showing
that next round of rain that could start to get stirred up in the Gulf.
I think high pressure takes over.
For our Wednesday, but by Thursday evening, we're going
to be watching another disturbance sweep in and you can see all
of that Gulf moisture starting to collect and dump some rain
on places like Corpus Christi and up towards Victoria Lake Jackson.
I think as we get into Thursday evening, Thursday night,
we will have at least a 30 40% chance for a few of those showers.
But Caroline, my best advice to folks is get out there,
make your vote count. Don't worry too much about the weather because
The rain is quickly moving out and I don't think it's going
to be much of an impact, especially if you're northwest of Houston.
Even now, the rain is pretty much gone.
So I think over the next one to two hours,
the rest of that rain will roll out.
That is between Houston and Galveston.
And by seven o'clock, things will be completely dry.
But of course, that's when the polls close.
Yeah, I know. That's right, Ramesha.
So hopefully everybody takes it nice and easy out there.
If they encounter any rain, thank you for.
That update on our forecast.
All right, we're going to take a quick break.
We'll be right back with a live report from Lena DeFlorius.
