Well, take a look at the scene in Port St. Lucie, Florida yesterday.
They had record rainfall,
12 inches or more.
And notice that bus there, it had just dropped off a student.
Not sure if this
video is going to rewind again,
but that student came off the bus and was literally trudging
through chest deep water there. So
This is a head-scratching a piece of video.
Fortunately, he did get safely across
that flooded roadway to higher, drier ground.
You can see the bus really struggling there to get through the water.
But there we go again.
I think it's worth a look here to see
the second student get off the bus.
And you'll eventually see...
The second one here, get up into what appears
to be chest high water as he gets close to that pickup truck.
And smart kid because he knew, okay,
I need to take a little different detour here.
Let me get out of there.
And he makes his way across the street
and up on a higher, drier ground.
But thankfully, he is okay and there didn't have to be.
A water rescue there, but certainly there's going to be,
I think, a bus driver and maybe some school district folks
that have to answer some questions after that.
All right. Now we had the heavy thunderstorms move
through here late last night into early this morning.
It really set us up for what was a beautiful election day
in terms of the weather was a little bit breezy, but.
Partly to mostly sunny skies.
You can clearly see on Doppler rainfall estimates here where
these heavy bands set up.
We did have the line move from west to east across the area,
but there were weaknesses in that line.
One of them, more notably, showed up right across Dallas
and Tarrant counties where rainfall was much lighter.
And yet there, just north in Denton County
and Collin County, we had a good...
Inch to an inch and a half, in some cases, close to two inches of rain.
Mesquite, only .10 from Nancy Bean.
Marty Fine, Carrollton, four-tenths of an inch.
But Anna and McKinney up in Collin County, over an inch of rain.
And Blewett in Southern Wise County with over two inches of rainfall.
Officially only .02 at DFW.
We've got work to do.
Look at the deficit for 2026.
We're up over five inches now.
And I don't see any rain.
Rain coming our way for about the next week.
77 today's high, 62 the low,
71 and 50 the averages for this time of the year.
We're dropping pretty steadily this evening, down to 62 now at DFW.
Elsewhere, 53 in Gainesville, 65 Terrell, 58 Cleburne, 57 in Granbury.
Wake-up temperatures in the 40s
in many outlying areas early tomorrow morning, right around
53 or so in the Metroplex.
Storms heading well off to our east now into Louisiana and Mississippi.
We're going to see partly to mostly sunny skies tomorrow.
Just some high clouds, I think, mixing with the sunshine.
Look for it.
An afternoon high up around 73.
Winds then turn to the south Thursday afternoon.
That should boost temperatures into the mid to upper 70s.
And then we'll see a dry, cold front come through here.
It's got no moisture to work with.
We'll see a few clouds with it,
but I don't think we see any showers or thunderstorms.
Just a few clouds overnight, a light breeze down to 53.
Here's your seven-day forecast.
It looks like it's smooth sailing for the next week.
73 tomorrow, 77 on Thursday.
Friday's high only 71, 68.
A little cool on Saturday, but we'll take it.
And Sunday, we'll start out in the upper 40s
and top out around 70 in the afternoon.
