AI GeneratedDemocrats have achieved a historic \"blue wave\" by seizing control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate. The election saw unprecedented flips in traditionally Republican strongholds and the election of several first-time minority governors and senators, creating a challenging legislative environment for President Trump.
Welcome back. You're watching Fox Local Election Night.
We're covering the biggest decisions facing
people in California and across the nation at 11 o'clock.
We start with one race having
the most impact across the nation here.
The control of Congress, also some historic flips
tonight. Yeah, a major battle playing out across the nation,
the battle for the power in Congress.
You're looking live at the House
of Representatives results. And the Democrats
took the House. They also took the Senate as well.
And here's a look at that power grab.
Fox 11's Ross Palumbo joining us now
with how control of Congress is shaping up.
Ross.
Well, Christine and Marla, take a look at those results.
Democrats were confident they would take back the House,
but the margins are set now to be historic.
And flipping the Senate is even more than they had ever hoped for.
In Texas, James Tallarico becomes the first Democrat
to win a Senate seat there in more than three decades,
marking just the beginning of a blue shift across that state
that has been solidly Republican in this millennium.
We just took back Texas. We just proved
that all the money in the world
is no match for the people of Texas.
We just showed that a politics of division
is no match for a politics of love.
In Michigan, Democrat Abdul Al-Sayed is ahead
after a hard fought and controversial campaign there.
And it looks like Democrats will likely
Hold on to that seat.
If he wins, he will become the first Muslim in the U.S. Senate.
In South Carolina, one of the biggest surprises of the night,
where Democrat Annie Andrews
flips the seat from Republican Lindsey Graham's sister,
Darlene Graham, to give that deep
South state its first Democrat in nearly 30 years.
And in North Carolina,
Democrat Roy Cooper replaces retiring Republican Tom Tillis.
In Kansas, the biggest change in nearly a century,
their first Democratic senator in
94 years.
As Ahmaud Hamilton beats Republican incumbent Roger Marshall,
results just starting to filter
in on the Senate race in Alaska where we've seen
the controversy over Decoy Dan, the candidate
recruited to confuse voters over incumbent Republican Dan S. Sullivan.
Mary Peltola is the Democratic challenger and at this point tonight,
it appears she is ahead.
In Georgia, history made with Keisha Lance Bottoms becoming
the first black governor of that state.
Also in Florida, Byron Donalds,
that is, becomes the state's first black governor
and the first black Republican governor of any state,
defeating Democrat David Jolly.
And finally in Texas,
Gina Hinojosa becomes that state's first Latina governor
and the first woman to hold
that office since Ann Richards back in 1990.
Tonight, Texas, we answered,
and we did not whisper.
I'm a trooper.
We answered loud enough
for every billionaire,
and every corrupt belongs to us.
We have delivered a mandate for change, and it is change they will get.
Well, it has changed. They've definitely gotten tonight,
all of this, the worst possible outcome
for President Trump, who is already tonight complaining about all
the coverage, complaining
about the Republican candidates,
and vowing to be Mr. Veto with both chambers now controlled by
the Democrats. What a night.
He spoke with Fox just a little while ago. Take a listen.
So that's what I complain about,
but it's not gonna matter because the end result is
what you saw tonight on television.
But I think it's hard to believe
that anybody could lose that race to somebody from the
administration.
But you're gonna accept all these races, right?
Yeah, sure, I'll accept them, why wouldn't I?
Well, that is really good to hear from the president
that he's gonna accept these results.
It has been an amazing night for Democrats
are calling it a blue nami among other things
the memes are going crazy.
These results something have we ever seen anything like
this in a midterm election?
Well, it's certainly been a wild night. Right?
Yeah. It's been wild.
Yeah, historic across the board ultimately when it comes down to it.
So we appreciate you,
Ross Palumbo, good to have you. Of course, great to be here.
Yeah, and we should know that he did
cover the White House for four years,
so you know what you're talking about. So we are watching here.
