There is no virtual option for Mike Thomas.
He's here in the flesh to tell us what's
on tap for the rest of the week.
No, we're always going to be here for you.
And, like, look, as we get ready for tomorrow, big day tomorrow.
You know why?
Why?
Winter weather outlook day.
Oh, you've been working on this.
Yeah, we've been working on this in the background for the better part
of a month now, honestly, in the weather department.
I don't want to spoil anything.
I'm not going to.
I just want to do have that graphic.
Are we going to see that graphic?
You'll see it coming up later in the show.
And if you want to know what he's talking about, stick around.
I have some thoughts about that.
Yeah, I bet you do.
It's a graphic that will make you think a little bit
at home as we get you ready for an exciting day.
Look, we do love releasing our winter weather outlook,
and I know a lot of folks at home enjoy looking forward to it.
Tune in tomorrow morning.
Chief Barnes will have that for you first,
and then we'll talk about it, of course, tomorrow evening.
Finally, some rain showers.
Hard to believe it's been almost three weeks here in Washington, right?
Right, 18 straight days without a drop of rain.
of rain in D.C.
Now, look, drought monitor,
the updated one comes in tomorrow, but as of last week, this
is what it was looking like,
which is vastly improved from what we were dealing with at
the worst of it during July.
Remember, we had severe widespread.
We had even extreme down to the south and to the east of town.
Now, most areas actually not in drought designations.
Abnormally dry is not drought for D.C., Baltimore,
just a little dry, but still some drought
up near Frederick, Carroll,
and Washington counties there in Maryland and a bit on the
eastern shore, too.
What we don't want to do, and we are heading into our dry season,
which winter is the dry season here in the D.C. region.
But we don't want to kind of set a foundation
with too much dryness in the fall.
Otherwise, that drought can come back rather quickly.
So we'll be monitoring to see just how
much rain we get in the days ahead,
which I really don't think we're going to get all
that much here in D.C. proper in the days ahead.
66 for Frederick, Maryland, as well as Dulles right now.
Manassas, Fredericksburg's at 64.
Hagerstown, 65.
Cumberland, still even warm all day.
You're up near 70 still at just 68 degrees.
Lenintown's sitting at 65 in dew points.
Mention those.
They're in the 60s.
Early November, we don't do too often,
but that is a decent amount of humidity.
Lower to middle 60s, even looking at Fredericksburg,
a dew point of 63 right now.
That is certainly high, and the reason that they are that high
is because we do have rain showers streaming in from the west.
Now, you look along the I-81,
and we did tell you yesterday that the I-81 corridor
and areas west of there would get it first about this time at night.
So up towards, say, Cumberland, they've had a few raindrops,
and up near the I-68, I-70 interchange,
We are seeing some raindrops coming down as well.
D.C. Pulse, likely not until after the midnight hour here in town
will we get our first raindrops, but generally lighter stuff.
You don't see a lot of heavy moisture out there.
You see a lot of scattered showers.
Here and there, there's a smaller, heavier batch.
But as we examine futurecast into the daytime hours tomorrow,
you'll see overnight.
There's some rain showers coming across D.C. by 6 a.m.
Perhaps you'll need the umbrella.
Kids at the bus stop briefly in a few locations,
but not everywhere, especially down to the
south and west of town.
There'll be some drier patches in there.
Much of the day is actually on the drier side for your Thursday.
Now, a pop-up shower, lighter variety, certainly possible.
Futurecast has a few of those,
but it's certainly not a washout on your Thursday.
Now, Thursday night into Friday,
that front kind of gets stuck across the D.C. region,
and there's a chance that we could pick up maybe
a few downpours during that time period,
but then that front shifts east
on your Friday morning into the afternoon,
and we may actually see some sunshine breaking out
by the time we hit the second half of the day on Friday.
So how much rain?
And I even think this is a little...
We'll talk more about it and talk about that graphic that Jim
was referring to coming up a little later in the show. Guys.
