Alrighty, still waiting on Jason, so we will get things started here.
I hope he didn't fall down the steps.
Right, like, is he okay? Do we need, like, a life alert?
Anyway, we're getting things set up here, and Scott...
This entire week has just been extremely interesting
and extremely telling.
So, in case you don't know, the Eagles never answer any questions.
Next.
Nick Sirianni gets up there week after week,
win or lose, doesn't really matter,
and basically kind of says a whole lot of nothing,
a lot, and it's getting progressively worse.
And when I say a whole lot of nothing, I mean...
Other NFL organizations come in and start
their media availability with a practice report of
who's practicing, who's not, all that.
We're not ever given any of that information. So off the
rip, and this has been like an ongoing thing,
so off the rip we're not getting as much information
as you typically see around the league.
And then this saga of the backup quarterback or
quarterback situation, whatever you want to call it.
It is just the most insane series of events.
So on Monday, do we have that sound, by the way?
Yes, we do.
Okay, so on Monday, this is what Nick Sirianni said just 48 hours ago.
Take a listen.
Nick, what changes are you going to make this week?
And is a change at quarterback on the table?
Again, you know, Tanner's our guy.
We're not making any changes.
Okay, so that was Monday.
Today.
Approximately at noon, little afternoon,
Nick has a press conference again,
is directly asked about Joe Milton, and here's what he says.
Yeah, I think he's worked really hard.
Him and Parks have spent a ton of time together,
getting him caught up to speed.
You know.
And then I know the developmental periods,
those always help to be able to run our plays.
He's always in the building doing the extra things.
And yeah, I like his progression.
So multiple opportunities to get in front of this, take charge.
By the way, this is the same guy who says,
it all starts and ends with me, right?
Right?
Says nothing, waits until after the media availability period is over,
and then all of a sudden Adam Schefter has a tweet out
that Joe Milton is the Eagles starting quarterback.
You sat there, and you had all that time
in the world to just get out in front of it
and create a unified messaging,
and then you decide you're going to leak it.
And then, wait, it gets even better.
So you think he leaked it?
Somebody had to have.
Somebody had to leak it.
I mean, it's coming from someone.
But I don't think he wanted it to get out.
Well, you finish your story, because I
think I've got a little bit of a theory.
Right.
So then it gets worse, because this is out.
It's circulating the Internet now.
And we get in the locker room, and the players go,
Well, I have no idea what you're talking about.
What?
We haven't selected a starting quarterback.
Mind you, Tanner McKee was supposed to speak today.
No quarterbacks were available to talk today.
So the writing is on the wall.
It's happening.
It's the worst-kept secret.
And then you get in the locker room and the players are like,
oh, we don't know nothing about that.
We have no idea.
They split reps today.
We don't know what you guys are talking about.
And Jordan Mailata, to his credit, he stands there every week.
Oh, okay, let's listen to some of the play.
players. I don't know what you're talking about.
We don't know who's going to start Sunday so
everybody's going to get reps.
I mean I think Joe has done a tremendous job along with Cole
along with Tanner of coming in.
I know since the Jalen situation you know they come in every day
ready to work trying to get better.
How's it been communicating to you that Joe's starting?
Uh no so that's a Nick Sirianni question
but split reps communicating to start out I don't know mate.
And I think, hey, Jason, by the way.
Hi.
So I think that is what I was just going to reference.
Jordan Mailata, to his credit, stands there every single week.
And he's one of the few players that is reliable in the locker room.
And I give him so much credit for standing there,
good, bad, whatever, and addressing the media.
He flat out said, that's a Nick Sirianni question, bud.
I don't know.
You're putting your players in a terrible position
by having to answer for all of this
because you refuse to answer
that question Wednesday in front of the media.
The whole thing is insane.
So my theory, just to get back to that real quick,
then we'll get Jason involved,
I don't know if you're involved, was...
I don't think Nick wanted this to get out at all
because you know how big he is on competitive advantage.
He wants to be able to have that.
I don't think he wanted that, whoever leaked that report.
And my suspicion would be, who would be unhappy in this situation?
You think it's Tanner?
Not Tanner, but perhaps his agent
or somebody close to him let that get out.
Now, that then means they've got to deal with it.
Now it looks like they're covering up.
They wanted it to be a competitive advantage.
It's not working out that way.
It's the worst-kept secret.
It's obvious that Joe Milton's starting.
Do we all agree on that?
You mean it's the right decision?
Sure.
Is that what you're asking?
No, what I'm saying is that it's obvious that he is starting.
They're trying to say, we don't know yet.
Right.
Oh, no, no, no.
I mean, it would...
To go back to your point, the worst part
is throwing your players under the bus.
Yes.
And, you know, if they want to mislead us,
the public, the fans, that's fine.
But in-house, you've got to keep it.
It's very disrespectful to Landon Dickerson and Jordan Mailata
to make them have to answer these questions under these situations
without knowing and put them in that position.
What it needs to be Nick Sirianni.
And Jason, this isn't the first time this has happened.
Now, granted, you can't necessarily time
when trades occur and things like that,
but it was the same thing.
You leave Nick Sirianni's press conference,
immediately the Eagles announce that Cam Jurgens has been traded,
and then...
You leave your players hanging out to dry.
They're the first people we constantly hear from.
This is over and over and over again.
It's not fair to this organization,
to the players in this organization.
And the fact that, again,
Nick Sirianni constantly says it starts and ends with me, it all ends.
Then you need to be the person
who's talking about this and announcing this.
I've never seen anything quite like this in my life.
And we kind of played through it before, too, right?
You go through a normal week.
Sunday, they played the game against the Commanders.
They lost.
Monday, the coaches are all in there.
And they're starting to move on to the next game.
And by Tuesday, they're starting to put in the game plan
for what they're going to do against the Giants.
And this is not interchangeable parts.
This is a not-mobile quarterback and a mobile quarterback.
It's a different kind of game plan, I've got to believe.
And so you've got to believe that that was in place on Tuesday.
And that likely the parties were being informed on Tuesday
or today when they came to the building.
Before that press conference.
And then that press conference would have been the perfect opportunity.
We talked about it upstairs.
Other teams are saying on Monday when there's a quarterback change,
they come out, the coach says, I just want to let you know,
we're going to start Gardner Minshew this week.
Well, especially because you need to make your coach
and quarterback available on Wednesday.
That's an NFL rule.
Cool.
And.
And the fact that you knew, you know what I mean?
What do you mean?
I've been around the league 11 seasons, right?
And every single time, so I'll use the Chiefs as a prime example.
They come out and say, hey, by the way, Patrick Mahomes,
Travis Kelsey, Chris Jones, they're not practicing today.
And with that, Chad Henne,
our starting quarterback, or whoever, right?
And then Andy Reid will then open it up for questions.
You get ahead of it.
So it sounds like you're not throwing anybody under the bus.
You're not trying to cover anything up.
Your organization is 2-6 right now.
You are in turmoil, and you're getting a...
Thousand messages coming out at once.
People are already mad at you about
the Jalen Hurts situation, how that was handled.
And now you look like you're covering this up.
It just looks shady.
Be normal about it.
Every other team can do this.
It's not that hard to say, we don't know about the quarterback.
We're weighing that.
You don't have to lie and be like, he's our guy.
It just makes him look bad.
I think this is an all-time low for Nick Sirianni and the organization.
I can't remember the organization being this much in dismay.
It's ridiculous.
In my time here, that for sure.
And they've been able to get away with this because they've been good
and people haven't been prying.
But this whole, I'm not telling you anything at all
because it's a competitive advantage.
This has been going on his entire tenure.
Yeah.
