The dry streak, the dry streak.
The dry streak, okay, we're mourning the dry streak.
18 beautiful days, and now we have rain across the Tri-State area.
So, yeah, you need your umbrella handy today.
It's not a rain out, it's not a wash out.
In fact, we're getting some peaks of sun.
That's actually not a bad picture there.
We're looking at Worldwide Plaza there on 50th Street.
That's pointed.
Right, midtown.
Oh, look at the fall colors. Looking really nice out there.
Feels nice outside. I mean, it's humid. However, it's nice and mild.
And we are getting some brightening in the skies from time to time.
So we have this warm influx of air.
Coming up from the southwest of us here,
and temperatures are above normal across the northeast.
We're talking about 15
to 20 degrees above normal for this time of year.
So we're really, like, been in a nice, sweet spot.
I mean, it's hard to believe it's November because it's...
I know.
Feels like September for sure.
Right now we're at 70 in Central Park and 75 in Newark,
76 in Belmar and Tom's.
I mean, that's close to 80 degrees.
68 in Islip.
I think they're seeing a little bit more in the way
of sunshine, too, down the Jersey Shore.
You go to the Jersey Shore, you get a weekend.
You can have an outdoor lunch at the beach.
I mean, today's the day, folks, for sure.
Wind speeds, they're picking up from time to time.
They've been pretty blustery.
Like right now, we have wind gusts up to 25 miles per hour in Islip,
17 in Belmar, and 22 miles per hour over in Tom's River.
We're really tracking showers. Now we had more rain fall earlier today.
That's kind of shifted over into New England.
So we still have the cloud deck in place in many spots. But you can see
the sun breaking through right now across eastern Long Island,
the Jersey Shore. And we still have a couple of spotty showers north
of the city up towards the Hudson Valley and into the Poconos.
But you can see things are relatively quiet off to our west.
Plenty of sunshine being found just to our west across central
and western Pennsylvania. Same thing for New York State.
And we do have a cold front that's edging its way closer to our region.
So along the front, that's where we're seeing the shower activity.
Unfortunately for us,
we're ahead of the front where the warm air is coming in.
So that's why we have our temperatures really nice across the region.
Yeah, that's the blue line we're ahead of that.
Correct. Now tomorrow...
See, I'm learning from you. Okay.
Tomorrow we have a southerly moisture flow that's actually going
to enhance the rainfall across the region.
So tomorrow...
It's going to be way wetter than it was today across the region.
So, if you didn't, like, I didn't bring my umbrella today.
But, of course, I can time out when the rain's happening.
So, like, I knew, like, where I was going
to be at what time that I didn't need the umbrella.
I leave mine in my work bag all the time because you just never know.
Tomorrow I'm going to have my umbrella.
So, if I have my umbrella tomorrow, you should have yours.
Now, the exception to tomorrow is going to be north and west
of the city, which I'm going to show you now on this future cast.
So, cloud cover in place for tonight.
We'll have a couple of spotty showers.
Then tomorrow morning for the morning commute,
we're going to have some rain here.
And it's going to come down pretty steadily,
especially across Long Island and the Jersey Shore.
But you can see north and west of the city.
I think you're going to be fine.
You should have a mix of sun and clouds.
It'll actually be a pretty decent day.
By 3 o'clock, we see the rain moving over the city,
Long Island, all of Connecticut.
But again, north and west of the city,
you're faring much better than the rest of the tri-state area.
So the rain continues into the evening commute.
It will shift to the east tomorrow night.
However, we still have this surface low
and what we call an upper-level low still in our vicinity.
So what that means is for Saturday,
we're going to have some clouds around.
We won't have as much rain as we're expecting on Friday.
However, it's still not clear just yet,
and we could get a couple of spotty showers,
especially north of the city.
I'm going to say north of 80.
The rainfall that I mentioned is going
to be heaviest across the Jersey Shore,
into the city and Long Island.
So that's where we're seeing the highest rainfall amount totals.
We could see close to three inches across Suffolk County.
So flooding could be an issue as we go
into Friday afternoon and evening.
And things will be much better, again, north and west of the city,
where you could get just maybe three hundredths of an inch
of rainfall up in Monticello.
Today, we're looking at mild temperatures, highs mostly in the 70s.
I mean, it feels good outside.
Tonight, we're dropping back only into the 60s.
Keep in mind, our normal high temperature
for this time of year is about 58 degrees.
I agree.
We're doing well. We're doing okay.
We're doing pretty good here.
All right.
That's a nice start to November.
So we're a little unsettled for the next few days
because of the frontal boundary
and those pressures of low setups.
Low pressure centers I just spoke about,
but things will start to improve.
I think Saturday afternoon with Sunday
being the better day of the weekend.
We could have some clouds in the morning.
We'll break into sunshine by the afternoon,
and that will be the start of our next dry stretch
of weather right into the middle part of next week.
Temperatures also come down a bit.
We'll be in the 60s by the weekend,
but that's normal for this time of year.
But that looks very nice for next week, too.
I mean, it's a really nice start to November.
It is.
We're doing really, really well.
All right.
And no big, big, big storms, like, over the week?
You've got the rain.
Friday.
Friday, we are going to see heavy rainfall, as I mentioned,
across mostly the Jersey Shore into the city and Long Island.
There could be some thunderstorms, too.
And that'll be the worst, the wettest day
and the worst day of the week.
Okay.
All right, there it is.
Audrey Puente, thank you very much.
Our Fox 5 meteorologist, Audrey Puente.
Bring the umbrella definitely tomorrow.
Definitely tomorrow.
We'll be back right after this.
