Hey guys, welcome back to my channel.
Today I wanted to share 10 classic basics
for your fall wardrobe.
So these are all pieces that you can mix and match
and get a lot of wear out of throughout the season.
You can layer these.
I wanted to give you some different options.
So what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna talk about each one
and then I'm gonna show you how I'm styling it
in the mirror.
So I hope that this is helpful for you guys.
And yeah, let's go ahead and begin.
The first basic for fall is a scarf.
So I know that this is nothing groundbreaking,
but I feel like you think of scarves
when you think of fall because you can layer with them.
You can dress them up or down.
I have a couple of blanket scarves.
So this is one that I got from Vichy Collection online.
I loved the colors of this.
I plan on taking this with me to Connecticut
in a couple of weeks when we go
or actually less than a week now.
And then I have this one.
You guys have probably seen this
in other videos on my channel.
This is one that I got during the Nordstrom anniversary sale.
I loved the colors of this one.
And then I also love wearing silk scarves.
So I wear silk scarves all year round.
They're a simple way to dress up an outfit.
So you can put on a t-shirt,
but tie a silk scarf in your hair or on your bag,
and you immediately look more pulled together.
It's a great way to show off your personality too
because you can find them in different prints and patterns.
I wear a lot of these colors in the fall.
So I got this, I think this is a Madewell scarf
I got from Nordstrom, but I have it tied on my bag here.
You've probably seen this on Instagram.
But yeah, scarves are just a simple
and more affordable way to stretch your wardrobe.
Okay, so here is one option with a scarf.
And I just put it on with this skirt from Loft
and over the knee boots.
And then this is just a basic scoop neck t-shirt
I got from Ann Taylor.
So here's a more up close look at the scarf.
You can see all of the different colors.
I just think it's really cute for fall.
Okay, so here is a silk scarf
and I just kept the same outfit on,
but I switched out my shoes for a pair of heels
and added this scarf.
And I think it immediately made this more dressy,
more work appropriate.
You could even wear this with flats.
Number two is a cozy sweater or pullover.
So look for fabrics that are really soft and comfortable,
something that you can throw on over the weekend,
curl up on the couch.
This is one of the softest things in my wardrobe.
I got this from Express
and I don't even know what the fabric is,
but it feels like a chenille.
I also have this pullover.
So this is something I can put on with leggings.
It's long enough where it covers up my butt
and it has these pockets on the front.
So it's just, I don't know,
I love anything that has pockets on the front.
It's easy to throw on over a t-shirt.
I'm pretty sure that they had this in a couple of colors,
so I'll link it down below.
But yeah, it has a hood as well.
But anything that you feel comfortable in
that you can wear over the weekends
is another great fall basic.
So I wanted to show you guys what this pullover looks like
because I ordered up a size.
So this is a medium.
The sleeves are a little bit long,
but I don't really mind that.
So I wanted it to be long enough
so that I could wear it with leggings.
So I just put it on with a pair of leggings
that I got from Nordstrom.
I like that the back covers my butt.
So it's longer in the back.
It's really hard to film this,
but yeah, it is long in the front too.
So if you order up a size,
you should have it oversized enough
so you could wear it with leggings.
Number three is a cardigan sweater.
So what I would recommend here
is to have two different options.
So one that you can wear a little more casually.
I tend to wear this one with jeans.
I've even worn it with shorts
because it has this heathered gray fabric
and it has these buttons,
which I feel like just dresses it down a little bit,
has pockets on either side.
But then I would also recommend having a dressier option
that you can wear to work.
I've worn this with dresses.
I've worn it with skirts,
but you can also wear this with jeans as well.
This is from Loft and it has a little bit of a stretch.
It's so soft and comfortable.
I think it comes in several colors too.
But yeah, I would recommend having a couple of options
for a cardigan and that will really help
to extend your wardrobe
because you can wear them over lots and lots of outfits.
So here is what the casual cardigan looks like.
And it's a little bit more slouchy.
So I feel like it just looks better
when worn with casual outfits like jeans and a t-shirt.
And I just have on these booties.
Basic number four is my personal favorite
and that is a good fall dress.
So here I have two options as well.
One that's a little more casual
and one that's appropriate for, not casual, no.
One that's a little more dressy
and then one that's more appropriate for work.
So the dressy option is from Gal Mates Glam Collection.
I did an entire blog post on this.
They now offer petite sizes, which is so exciting for me.
But yeah, this is such a gorgeous fabric,
perfect for fall if you have a wedding
or anything like that.
This is a great option and it has pockets,
which is best of all.
But yeah, so look for fabrics or patterns like this
that are appropriate for the season.
So what I like about this one is that it's a tweed fabric.
This is my favorite dress at the moment.
This is perfect for work.
You can wear it with tights.
I wore it with a trench coat the other day.
Matt and I went to Oktoberfest in celebration
and I did a whole blog post on that.
So I'll link it down below if you're interested.
But yeah, this is just such a perfect dress.
It looks very pulled together
and it has the zip closure in the back.
This is my favorite dress right now.
As soon as I saw it on Nordstrom, I had to have it.
I love the tweed fabric.
If you can see, it just has really pretty colors in it.
And I love the tie around the neck.
It's so perfect for Florida because it's short sleeves
and it's short so I can wear it right now
and it still feel appropriate and keep me cool.
But then you can pair it with tights.
You can put a jacket on with it.
But I love this shift silhouette.
It's very flattering and it's really comfortable too.
Number five is a moto jacket
or any type of lightweight jacket.
I really like moto jackets
because they add a little bit of an edge to an outfit.
This is one that I got from Nordstrom.
It's from Blink NYC.
And I love that it tapers into the waist
so it's very, very flattering.
And then I recently got this one from Vichy Collection.
I loved the color of this.
I wear this color a lot and it's a faux suede.
I just thought it looked really nice.
You can wear these over dresses.
You can wear them with T-shirt and jeans.
It's just something that will go very far in your wardrobe.
Okay, so I wanted to show you guys
what the moto jacket looks like.
I love how it goes longer in the front
and is cropped in the back.
And the zipper details are just really cool.
It kind of makes it look really edgy
and it has a zipper on the sleeve too.
If you've watched any of my videos,
you probably knew this was coming.
But number six is a blazer.
I love wearing blazers
because you can wear them with jeans.
You can wear them dressed up.
I wear them with skirts.
I have a couple of options here,
but I would recommend just finding one
that speaks to your personal style
in a fabric or color that you love.
But I will say that a classic navy blazer
will go very, very far in your wardrobe.
I have this herringbone I got from Loft.
I loved the burgundy plum color of this one.
And then this is a new one that I recently got.
And I liked the pattern on this.
It just looks really fall appropriate.
It's a little bit oversized, so it's not as fitted.
It looks really great, I think, with jeans.
So I wanted to show you guys what this blazer looks like
because I haven't showed it in a video yet.
It's a little bit oversized, as you can tell.
But it has cropped sleeves, which I really like.
And one button, so you could wear it buttoned
or unbuttoned, whatever you prefer.
And I just paired it with some dark wash jeans,
my Steve Madden nude sandals.
And I just think it's really cute.
I love the colors in this pattern for fall.
Number seven is a classic skirt.
So this is gonna be different for everyone.
It just depends on what type of silhouette or style
that you feel most comfortable in.
I would recommend starting maybe first
with a pencil skirt because pencil skirts
are very flattering on all body types.
They hug you in the right places.
And find one that hits at your knees
or just below your knees.
That length tends to be the most flattering.
But I have this one from Loft that I've been wearing a lot.
It's in this really nice, deep, rich cognac color,
perfect for fall.
I also got this one from Loft
that has these gold buttons on the pockets.
But yeah, if you find a skirt and a silhouette
that you feel comfortable in,
look for colors like navy or black.
Just really great neutral colors
that you can mix and match and wear a lot.
Number eight is a classic pair of boots.
So I would recommend an ankle boot or a bootie.
Because you can wear these, you can dress them up or down.
So I like this because it's very sleek and streamlined.
So they kind of teeter in between
a more casual boot and a dressy.
You can wear these with skirts and dresses,
but they also look great with a pair of jeans and a T-shirt.
They have a block heel, so they're easy to walk in.
These are from Marc Fisher from Nordstrom.
And I also wear over-the-knee boots a lot.
I realize these aren't for everyone,
but they look really great with skirts.
And living in Florida, I wear a lot of skirts.
These are a pair of Sam Edelman boots that I have.
But I also do have a pair of Stuart Weitzman,
so that's kind of like what these are the knockoff of.
But they're very, very comfortable.
They stay up, they look really nice
with a pair of skinny jeans and with skirts and dresses.
Basic number nine is a vest.
So these are great to wear on days
when it's a little bit cool outside
and you don't really need a ton of coverage.
I love wearing these in Florida
because I just will throw on a basic long-sleeve T-shirt
and it'll keep me a little warm,
but still cool enough for this weather.
I have this houndstooth, which is really nice classic.
And then I also have a fleece option, which is very cozy.
And I actually got this from Amazon.
I'll link it down below for you guys
because it was really inexpensive.
And then this is a classic navy.
This actually came as part of the trench coat that I got.
So this is like an insert that you can put
in the trench coat or wear on its own.
But yeah, a vest is really great to wear
because you can wear it with a variety of different tops.
And it's a great option when it's just a little bit cool,
but you don't need a ton of coverage.
So here's how I typically wear vests.
I just keep my T-shirts very basic underneath.
This is that same scoop neck shirt
that I've had on for a lot of these looks.
But this is just such a nice quilted fabric.
It has these little pockets.
And I just paired it with skinny jeans
and these black Mark Fisher boots.
Okay, so I wanted to show you guys
how this fleece vest looks from Amazon.
It is so comfortable and cozy.
I wish you guys could feel it through the screen,
but it has these pockets that zip.
And I just put it on with my Hunter boots
just to show you guys and give you an idea
of what it looks like with an outfit.
But it is so comfortable, so soft and cozy.
Kind of don't want to take it off.
Last but not least is a pair of weatherproof boots.
So I have a pair of Hunter boots here.
And these I actually wear year round.
So I can wear these with dresses,
I can wear them with skirts, I wear them with jeans.
And it rains a lot in Florida,
so these get me very, very far.
But it's gonna look different, obviously,
depending upon where you live, what your climate's like,
if it snows a lot where you live.
But if you invest in a good pair of weatherproof boots,
you can wear them year after year.
All right, so there you have it.
Those are my top 10 fall basics for your wardrobe.
