Hey guys, welcome back to my channel. Today I wanted to share
summer dresses for your wardrobe. So, I wanted to do a video like this because
dresses are my favorite thing. If I could just
choose one item to have in my closet, it would be dresses. I just find them to
be very versatile, easy to style, easy to throw on and go,
and summer is one of my favorite seasons to wear dresses. So, I thought that this
would be fun. I'm the type of person who I don't like
to accumulate a lot of clothes. I know I'm a style blogger, but I just
prefer to invest in pieces that I know I'll get a lot of use out of and a lot
of wear. So, I wanted to create something like this sharing a few of my favorite
silhouettes and occasions that I like to shop for when it comes to dresses.
So, I hope that you guys enjoy and let's go ahead and begin. The first style that
I wanted to talk about is a shirt dress and the one that I'm
wearing is from J.Crew. I believe I got it last year, but
a shirt dress is such a classic staple in your wardrobe because you can wear it
from spring to summer, even into fall, and you
immediately look very pulled together. It's a nice,
classic, tailored look and one thing that I like about shirt dresses, you can find
them in short sleeves, sleeveless, and long sleeve options.
I like long sleeve just because you can roll the sleeves up and then wear it
when it gets a little bit warmer, but if you get cooler in the spring,
then it's a good option to have. Another tip that I will say, when I
lived in Charleston, I liked to carry a shirt dress with me in my beach bag. So,
we would go to the beach and then it was something that I could
put on over my swimsuit if we went out to lunch afterwards
and it worked. You immediately look like you're a dress up, but you had your
swimsuit on underneath. They're just a nice thing to have in your
wardrobe when you want to look a little bit more pulled together,
but it's a very easy thing to just throw on and go. The next dress that I wanted
to talk about is the little white dress. So, I feel
like every wardrobe needs a little white
dress and I would recommend finding something in a silhouette that you
feel most comfortable in, in a fabric that works best for you.
I love off-the-shoulder dresses like I'm wearing today while filming this video.
It's just a silhouette that I gravitate towards. I love how it's a little bit
romantic and flirty. This one is from Lily Pulitzer. I like
that it had this very discreet shell pattern, which you can't really tell
unless you know that it's a seashell. I just thought that that was really fun.
It's perfect to take with me to the beach. It has a really nice
sturdy fabric. I also have a white dress that I love in an eyelet lace. I just
find that to be very elegant, but any type of style that fits best for
you. Linen is another good fabric to look for.
White dresses work for a lot of vacations in the summer and they're a
perfect thing to add to your wardrobe. The next style of dress that I recommend
for your wardrobe is a very versatile day-to-night dress. So,
something that you can wear with sneakers during the day or flip
flops and then dress it up at night with a pair of heels.
I'm wearing this one from Leith. This is one of my favorite dresses. I've shown it
several times in my videos, so you guys are probably
tired of seeing it, but it's such a great silhouette. It just works.
It's very versatile. You can dress it down. You can dress it up for an evening
look. I have it in both the sleeveless and the
long sleeve version and I wear it all the time. I will say that it does
run a little bit small, so I sized up to an extra small in this,
but a versatile dress like this, it could be any type of dress that works from day
to night, is really good to have in your wardrobe.
The next dress is an effortless day dress. So, this can be
any type of dress that you can wear throughout the day, but it's something
that you don't really have to think about. You just throw it on and go. You
feel good in it. It's comfortable. You can wear it with a pair of sneakers. You can
wear it with flip flops and it just works. I chose to talk about the line and
dot dress here. I got this last year and I normally don't
wear bright colors like this, but I really liked this one for summer and
it's become one of my favorite dresses just because
it's easy to throw it on and go. It works with any type of shoe and it's
such a comfortable dress. I also love the silhouette. I love the neckline,
but yeah, any type of dress that you can throw on and go.
You feel comfortable and you can wear all day without feeling like you're
having to fuss with it. That's what I'm talking about here. The
next dress is your vacation dress. This is probably one of my favorites, but
this is something that you can pull and bring with you every time you go on
vacation. I'm thinking more someplace tropical just because that's what I'm
thinking when we go on vacation, but this is a
vibrant color. Maybe something that you don't wear a lot, but it just reminds you
of a vacation, having fun, doing something festive. I
chose this one from Chic Wish because I love the tassels.
It's one of my favorite fun dresses. One of my most colorful dresses in my
wardrobe too. But yeah, any type of dress that feels
like as soon as you put it on, you're supposed to start having fun.
The last style that I wanted to talk about is a transitional dress. So,
think something that you can wear when it's between
temperatures. So, spring into summer, summer into fall.
When you're not really sure what the temperature is, I like this one because
it has a very thick fabric. This is a ribbed sweater,
but it's also sleeveless. So, it works during the day in the summer
and then if it gets a little bit cooler, it pairs nicely with a jacket. You can
also wear a sweater over this, pair it with a blazer, a trench coat. It just
works. It's very versatile and I would recommend
shopping for a fabric like this. Something that's a little bit more
hefty, that's a little bit thicker, that works for when you're not really sure
what temperature it's supposed to be. Another thing that I would also
recommend is shopping for a simple print or pattern. So, I would stay away from
florals or anything that just screams spring or summer. Something that
works more for that in-between season. Alright, so that's it for
today's video. Thank you so much for watching. If you liked this video, please
give it a thumbs up so that I know to make more.
