Happy Monday everyone! It's Monday morning in Hanoi, Vietnam.
And you guys can see the hustle and bustle of the city here.
But before I can get that kind of energy to drive around, I need a cup of coffee.
And if you are coffee lovers, this video is for you.
Because today I'm going to introduce you to a very special coffee called egg coffee.
And it's a must try when you come to Hanoi.
You might be wondering like egg and coffee, how good can that be?
Alright, let's follow me to find out.
I mean, follow me here too, alright?
Drink it on me.
Okay guys, so this is Café Giang, one of the most well-known egg coffee places in Hanoi.
And this place was founded in 1946, as you guys can see on the sign over there.
And it's more than 70 years.
And to come, the coffee shop is actually inside.
And if you want to come in, you gotta go through that narrow alley over there.
Alright, and this is my first time here.
So I'm pretty excited to try the egg coffee here.
Alright, let's go.
Guys, this is so tiny.
I don't know how two people can fit in here.
What if they come from like two different directions, you know?
I don't know how they can avoid each other.
But this is like super tiny.
And this is what I love about Hanoi.
Because if you walk around Hanoi, you're gonna find so many narrow alleys like this.
It's like, it's very cozy.
And it's like, it's just a uniqueness of Hanoi.
Alright, let's go.
Whose bicycle is this?
Alright guys, this looks sexy.
Look at that.
You can see the egg foam is so airy and puffy.
Oh my gosh, it looks really, really good.
And this coffee looks like the Dagona coffee that we invented during COVID-19.
But a similar story though.
This coffee was invented during the shortage of milk due to the economic crisis.
And the owner of this coffee place is actually the inventor.
He was working in like a five-star hotel.
And during the shortage of milk, he was thinking of substitute milk with egg yolks.
So this is his invention.
And I'm so excited to try this one.
This is a very well-known place.
And you can see this place is packed with locals.
And I guess everybody just wants to try the egg coffee from its inventor, right?
Oh my gosh.
This is so good.
Wow.
This is more like a dessert than a cup of coffee to me.
You know, love the sweet, creamy texture of the egg foam.
Which didn't have any scent of raw eggs at all.
I feel like they whisk it so many times that the eggs are actually being cooked.
I believe they whisk it with condensed milk and vanilla powder if I'm not mistaken.
But I can smell it's like...
Have you ever had flan cake before?
The egg foam kind of tastes like flan cake.
It has that vanilla caramel smell and taste.
I don't know.
So they actually put the hot water in here to keep the coffee warm.
It's a very well-crafted balance of fatty, bitter, and sweet sensation in here.
Very, very good.
The coffee is so strong.
The egg foam is sweet and soft.
Even though if you're not a big fan of coffee,
you can still come to this place and try the egg coffee.
Because the egg is actually sweet.
And if you mix well with the coffee, it's not that strong.
But yeah, like right now, it's just like pure coffee.
So that's why it's strong.
It's really good, guys.
So besides egg coffee, they also have non-caffeinated drinks here.
Such as egg with chocolate,
egg with mung bean,
egg with cinnamon,
egg with coke,
egg with matcha,
egg with rum.
Wait, what?
Egg with rum?
What?
And egg with beer.
I've heard that they have egg with beer here.
It's one of the most popular drinks here.
You should try, especially during a hot summer day.
If you can have like a cup of cold beer mixed with egg,
it's gonna be awesome.
And the egg coffee drinks usually range from
30,000 Vietnam Dong to 50,000 Vietnam Dong.
This coffee represents very well Hanoian.
Because Hanoian people, they are very soft and sweet outside.
But they are very bold and strong inside.
Just like this coffee.
Alright guys, so I'm kind of hungry right now.
I'm gonna go get something to eat.
But you know what pairs very well with coffee?
It's Vietnamese sandwich.
Bánh mì.
And when you come to Vietnam,
you can't miss coffee and bánh mì.
So let's go.
They are perfect too.
You know, perfect too.
So today, I'm gonna take you guys to a very very good place for bánh mì.
And it's called the Bánh Mì Lạt Âu.
And it's known for the pâté.
Pâté.
Yeah, pâté.
Yep, alright.
Let's follow me.
Oh my gosh, it smells so good guys.
I can smell it from here.
I can smell the pâté here.
And it's actually pretty hot.
But it's good because it keeps the crust pretty crunchy and crispy.
You guys can hear it from here.
There you go.
And the inside fills with all the delicious toppings
like Vietnamese herbs, Vietnamese veggies,
pork, Vietnamese cold cuts, bologna,
and especially the pâté.
Because this place is known for pâté.
Yeah.
The creamy buttery pâté pair very well with the Vietnamese cold cuts
like bologna and Vietnamese pork.
Yeah, this is very very good.
Here, I really like the cucumbers and Vietnamese cilantro in here.
Really bring the light fragrance and just like neutralize everything in this sandwich.
This is what I love about the Vietnamese food.
The contrast of the ingredients.
Like the outside, it's so crunchy, so crispy.
But the inside, it's like really soft and really puffy, very airy.
So inside, all the flavors just mix very well together.
It makes a perfect balance.
All the flavors, I feel like they are dancing in my mouth, you know.
In here, the signature is the bread with Lan Ong pâté.
Lan Ong is the name of this eatery.
Okay, so that one is the most popular.
But if you don't want to order that,
there are a lot of options for you.
Such as bread with ham, bread with grilled chicken,
mixed bread with omelette, and mixed bread.
So yeah, there are a lot of ingredients that you can choose from.
It really depends on your personal choices.
This restaurant was founded 30 years ago.
I wasn't born at that time.
But it's a very very well-known place.
Especially for Hanoian, people usually come here in order to go.
Or you can see during lunchtime, it's crowded.
It's packed with locals here.
I'm done.
I am very full right now, guys.
But I'm very satisfied with the quality of the bánh mì here.
The pâté is delicious.
I'm wondering if you have ever had Vietnamese sandwich before.
