Camping Alone in a Bog

I'm currently standing on an old forestry road here in the backwoods of Ontario, Canada.
I'm surrounded by scrubby, brushy crown land.
My plan is to head off a couple kilometers into the bush and find a nice place to camp,
but it all seems like wetland.
There's also rain on the forecast later, so get your rubber boots on and your raincoat
on because it's going to be a wet one.
I think I've never seen anything like this in my life.
This is like a clearing for deer.
Poo.
What a poopy place.
These trees too have been thrashed by deer.
It's clear because all these lower branches have been broken off, my guess is by antlers.
Deer going at them in the rut.
You know, I don't know too much about it, but that's my guess.
And if you guys know any better, let me know down in the comments because I'm really curious.
So I'm going to get out of here, it's starting to rain and I need to find camp and it's not
going to be here.
It's a vertebrae of some sort.
That is animal bone.
I think this is home.
Looks pretty good.
Not going to lie, I was kind of hoping for a bit more rain.
This is one of my favorite parts of any adventure, getting to a good spot, having the tarp set
up, getting the fire going.
It's like, alright, we got a home going.
Now we just need to make some food.
So I get a lot of comments saying I don't eat enough vegetables.
I hope this does it for you guys.
Oh my god, so much broccoli today.
Time for real food.
On the menu tonight we have sweet potato and chicken thighs.
How do I want to do this?
We'll just do it the old stabby way.
Maybe I'll slice it in half.
We're clearly winging this right now.
Alright.
Salt and pepper and olive oil.
See the thing is with olive oil, it's basically moisturizer, so getting it everywhere is,
it's good.
Put these two doohickeys back together.
This is all just improvisation.
It's like a nice little spot for it right here.
Hey?
Perfect.
Alright, next thing we got, chicken thighs.
These look disgusting like this, but they will be delicious.
This is just, what is this?
Montreal chicken seasoning?
Chicken seasoning of some sort?
I don't know.
A little dash for good.
Good measure.
There we go.
And another little dash for good measure.
And a little dash for good measure.
So that rain doesn't look like it's going to happen.
I checked the weather radar again and what we got earlier is what we get.
It's really loud.
Hey, would you guys mind turning it down like one or two notches?
Like who am I to get mad at these frogs?
They're just trying to get it in, you know?
Guys, have your fun.
To be young and in love.
Wow, that smells good.
I think that is perfect.
Oh yeah, that is soft right through.
Here we go.
That sweet potato is amazing.
The onions too.
Wow.
Oh wow, the chicken is perfect.
Perfect.
It's just so well done.
Not burnt at all.
Just perfectly done.
Those frogs are loud.
Dear diary, I'm out adventuring again and today I stumbled upon a stinky bog and set up camp.
All was well until sunset when I found out I had some neighbors.
Boy golly, do they ever like to party.
Hard AF.
I like to party too, but I'm new here and kind of shy.
Maybe I'll introduce myself tomorrow.
But for now I need my beauty sleep.
XOXO, smiley face emoji, winky face emoji.
Good night.
The world is at a much more reasonable volume right now.
It was so loud last night.
I'll sleep when I'm dead.
Alright.
Good morning world.
Thank you for such a glorious day.
It is so pretty out.
The temperature is just great.
There's no bugs yet.
Got my oatmeal.
Got my instant coffee.
Got bacon on the grill.
Woo.
Oh, we lost one.
Yup.
Can't beat bacon.
Alright, this is a simple way to wrap paracord.
There's a few ways of doing it.
More or less the same.
But as you can see, it comes undone quite easily.
And I should head to do that now.
So, take it, bite it with your thumb.
You know, have a little bit of rope left over.
Just start wrapping it.
I do it a little bit sloppy because I usually end up doing like 30 paracords.
No, not 30.
10, 15 paracords.
And I don't really care to spend all that time making it super neat.
When you have about 3 feet left, I slide this off my hand.
And then I switch and grab it with my index finger like that.
So the strands are coming out like that.
And I grab the remaining 3 feet and I start wrapping it around.
Again, you can be as neat as you want, but I tend to be more sloppy than anything.
When you have about 6 inches left, you can remove your index finger.
And in that hole, poke that strand through just like that.
And then if you did it right, this remaining piece that you had at the beginning,
the piece that you saved at the beginning, cinch that down on the rope.
And it's all one nice, neat little package.
That's it.
