When it comes to slowing down the signs of aging, many of us immediately think of anti-wrinkle creams and skin care.
But did you know that the secrets of a young and sparkling skin do not necessarily reside in its expensive cream skins?
In reality, the key to fighting wrinkles and maintaining a firm and radiant skin resides in a natural protein that our body naturally produces, the collagen.
As usual with B-move, we are not going to tackle external symptoms, here we are going to tackle the source of the problem,
why do we age, among other things because we lose more and more collagen.
In this video, we will dive into the fabulous world of collagen and discover how to stimulate its production for a visibly younger skin.
First, what is collagen?
Collagen is a protein that is present in almost all our tissues.
It is even the most abundant protein in the human body.
Collagen represents 15% of our dry weight, that is, without water.
It is responsible for the cohesion, elasticity, skin regeneration, bones, tendons, ligaments and many other tissues.
Collagen is therefore super important for maintaining health, youth, joints and skin.
Problem, despite its importance, collagen can come to lack.
Indeed, our body has the ability to produce its own collagen.
But its synthesis tends to decrease with age and its production can be modified by many factors.
We consider that the synthesis of collagen decreases by 1.5% per year from the age of 25 years.
The level of collagen reserves can thus be reduced from 30% to 40 years and from 45% to 50 years and from 60% to 60 years.
Second point, what are the different types of collagen?
So there are several types of collagen, I will not abbreviate you here with a lot of definitions, it would be a bit redundant.
But to simplify, we have type 1 which is present in the skin, tendons, ligaments, bones, teeth and other tissues.
We have type 2 which is found mainly in the cartilage of the joints.
And type 4 which is important for the health of the intestinal mucosa and other organs.
If you do not remember all this, it is of course not very important.
Remember that type 1 and type 2 are often plebiscite for collagen supplements.
Third point, how to increase collagen production thanks to food?
First, what you need to understand is that only foods of animal origin contain collagen.
It makes absolutely no sense to want to find collagen in the vegetal world because it just does not exist.
One of the foods where we find the most collagen is bone broth.
So bone broth is super rich in collagen and amino acids that will be used to promote the creation of collagen.
This is obtained by cooking the bones for a long time and precisely the collagen of the bones will turn into gelatin.
And this gelatin, when consumed, will provide the amino acids necessary for our body to make its own collagen.
The recipe is super simple, you take animal bones like beef, chicken, lamb.
You place them in a large pot, you cover it with water.
You add vegetables like carrots, onions, celery for taste.
You let it simmer for 12 to 48 hours, yes it's a little long.
Then you regularly squeeze the foam that forms on the surface.
Then you filter the broth and keep it in the refrigerator.
Of course, we will also find collagen in meat, especially meat that is relatively close to bones.
Eggs also provide amino acids and proteins necessary for the manufacture of collagen.
Fish and seafood such as sardines, anchovies, oysters, shrimps and morus are also particularly rich in collagen.
In these cases, we are talking about marine collagen.
So as we have seen, there is no collagen in the vegetal world.
On the other hand, in some vegetables, we will find substances that will help the body to make its own collagen.
And precisely, berries are among the best foods to stimulate the production of collagen.
We find strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and lemurs which contain powerful antioxidants called anthocyanins.
They will protect collagen from the harmful effects of UV rays and other environmental aggressions,
thus helping to maintain a healthy and young skin.
And you know, if you follow my videos, that I talk very often about berries.
They are great foods to eat very often.
Ginseng is also known to promote the protection of collagen from UV rays.
Vitamin A is also very important for the health of the skin and for the synthesis of collagen.
We find vitamin A, for example, in green leafy vegetables.
We also have citrus fruits that are rich in vitamin C, such as oranges, lemons, kiwis, and grapefruits.
And we also have pepper, which is not a citrus fruit, but which is super rich in vitamin C.
And in fact, vitamin C is very, very important for the production of collagen.
By the way, I don't know if you remember this old disease called scorbutus,
which mainly affected sailors who went for long crossings on the ocean,
and who cruelly lacked fruits and vegetables, they only ate fish.
And by lacking vitamin C, their collagen could no longer be created properly.
And so they had problems with secretion, bleeding of the gums, etc.
It is therefore a typical symptom of scorbutus, the cause of which is vitamin C deficiency.
And vitamin C is also an antioxidant that will protect collagen from external aggressions,
such as free radicals, which I talk about very often in my videos.
Next point, which supplement to choose?
Today, we eat less and less animal products, for various reasons,
and this can lead to, in addition to the natural loss of collagen as we saw at the beginning of the video,
problems to have a sufficient amount of substances that will help create our own collagen.
So a supplement can be necessary for people who consume little animal products,
or who want to have a necessary intake to stay in good health,
and in particular to have good skin and joints health.
Because several studies have shown that a collagen cure, especially for sailors,
could relieve joint pain.
Other studies have shown that a supplement could preserve joint health,
and also prevent the degradation of joints and associated pain.
Especially for people who suffer from rheumatism, collagen supplementation can be a valuable help.
The effectiveness of a collagen supplement will mainly depend on the size of the peptides that make up the supplement,
and also the amino acids it contains.
For the size of the peptides, it must be as small as possible so that it can easily pass the intestinal barrier.
And for the amino acids, the essential amino acid to help the production of collagen is glycine.
In other words, to have a collagen that is very biodisposable, we must have a collagen that is hydrolyzed.
In other words, that contains these very small peptides, the smallest possible,
to favor the transfer to the intestinal barrier.
So just to come back quickly on glycine,
it has a very important action to help collagen formation.
It also has other beneficial functions, such as joint protection and inflammation reduction.
Thus, a collagen formula that provides a significant amount of glycine
and other essential amino acids to collagen formation,
will be more effective in helping to have a better joint health of the skin and other tissues.
If you are interested in knowing which collagen supplement I recommend,
I put the link in the description of the video, and it will also be the first comment.
Next part, other little tips to help stimulate the production of collagen.
First, we have aloe vera, which will help the production of collagen,
but also the production of hyaluronic acid.
So to make it simple, hyaluronic acid is a very important molecule
that will help to keep a good hydration on the skin.
And just like for collagen, the production of hyaluronic acid will decrease with age.
Which can lead to dry skin and the early appearance of wrinkles in people who are not careful.
So aloe vera will help to promote the production of hyaluronic acid
and to promote a better hydration, and thus to improve its appearance.
Another not very well-known technique is red light immunotherapy,
which will also help to stimulate the production of collagen.
This comes from the fact that exposure to red light can increase the activity of fibroblasts,
the cells responsible for the production of collagen in the skin.
And red light immunotherapy will also stimulate the production of ATP in the mitochondria,
the famous energy centers of the cells.
An increase in ATP means that the cells have more energy to function efficiently.
Which can help them to function better and better implement the cellular renewal process.
And we find studies and meta-analyses that go very widely in this direction.
So it's a field of research that is super interesting, I haven't tested it myself,
but it can be very interesting to find out and why not implement it
with of course homologated equipment that are of quality.
In addition to what will stimulate collagen, we will have to pay attention to what will destroy collagen.
So precisely, what are the factors that harm collagen?
First, there is excessive sugar consumption.
Excessive sugar consumption will create in your body what are called AGEs,
or advanced glycation products.
These AGEs are widely recognized to promote the acceleration of aging
and therefore damage your tissues, and in particular the tissues of the skin.
So reduce your sugar consumption and go for a moderate consumption of good glucose.
Like the glucose of fruits mainly.
Second enemy is of course tobacco.
Because tobacco will reduce the production of collagen in the skin,
and the chemical products that are contained in the cigarette
will interfere with the ability of the body to produce its own collagen.
Same for alcohol, which will dehydrate the skin overall,
which will reduce its ability to produce collagen.
And of course, excessive and regular consumption of alcohol will also increase oxidative stress,
which can damage the collagen fibers of your skin.
If you put all this into practice, you will have a body that will produce collagen more naturally
and therefore will age less quickly.
