Hey there, Dr. Jason Kim here. Thanks for joining our channel and continue to like us, subscribe to
us, and share our information with your friends, families, colleagues, and anyone that you have
connections and relationships with. Today, I want to talk a little bit about how do I improve my
oral hygiene? How do I improve oral home care? And so then we give you some five tips. You know,
patients ask us, what can I do better? One is making sure to brush your teeth at least twice
a day, at least two minutes at a time, but also how you brush. You want to make sure you get to
the gum line, clean the gums to remove any buildup, any plaque, anything that may be on your teeth and
gums. So two minutes using circular motion, right? Getting to the gum line and at least twice a day,
brushing your teeth at least twice a day. Second tip is flossing your teeth every day. So you can
use dental floss to clean between the teeth. For patients who have bridges, who have maybe a
difficult time using floss, they have what we call floss threaders, proxy brushes, little brushes to
get between the teeth. So you can use those. Third tip is going to be using a mouth rinse. You can
use any mouth rinse on the market. There's Listerine, Scope, that's going to help refresh your breath.
It's going to help kill some bacteria. It's going to help use and wash away any buildup,
any plaque as well. Another good tip to be mindful of is to avoid sugary diets, right? Foods,
sugary foods, because the sugar in the foods is not good for teeth because the plaque and
bacteria in your teeth, in your mouth actually feed off the sugars. So the sugary diet, if you
can limit the amount of sugar that you take in your diet, it's going to help improve oral health.
So we said two times a day, but if you eat sugary foods, you snack a lot, then it's a good idea to
maybe brush after eating those types of foods as well. And another tip is going to be making sure
that you want to get regular dental checkups. So maybe every three months, four months, every six
months, getting regular dental checkups. But for those who have maybe issues with gums, maybe
periodontal conditions, every three or four months. And so another tip I want to give and recommend is
you want to change your toothbrush every three to four months. And I would probably say every three
months you want to get a new toothbrush. So hopefully that helps. We want to be able to
maintain and keep everything up to par so that you can keep your teeth for a long, long time to come.
So thanks for joining us. Like us. We'll see you again soon.
