In this meditation we're going to start with some deep breathing to help your
body and mind completely relax and then I'll be helping you to let go
into a deep and nurturing stillness beneath the breath.
You can do this meditation lying down or sitting.
So find a nice comfortable position, make sure you have a nice straight spine,
whether you're sitting or lying place your hands wherever feels most natural.
If you're lying down just make sure you're nice and comfy.
If you're sitting roll your shoulders all the way up and then down and back.
Imagine an invisible cord gently pulling the top of your head towards the ceiling.
Feel your body relax and your shoulders fall away from your ears
and whenever you're ready just close your eyes.
Start to notice your breathing.
Feel the sensations of the breath coming in through your nose.
Breathe out through your nose or your mouth.
Notice the way the breath feels leaving your body on the out-breath.
Really deepen and slow down the breath by imagining that you're breathing
all the way into the base of your stomach.
Feel your stomach expand and relax as you breathe.
Imagine you're completely filling your belly on the in-breath
and then once your belly is full allow your lungs to fill.
Allow the exhale to become long, slow and smooth.
Repeat this for a few breaths, fill your belly and then your lungs
and gently release a long smooth exhale.
Feel any tension in your body release with the out-breath.
Feel your entire body relax with these deep slow breaths.
Feel any tension in your back melting and dissolving.
Sense any weight on your shoulders lift.
Feel your jaw completely relax and let your tongue rest at the bottom of your mouth.
Feel all the muscles in your face relax as you slowly exhale.
Feel your entire body relax with these deep slow breaths.
Now let go of purposefully deepening or extending the breaths
and allow your body to take over.
Let go of control completely.
Feel any tension release a little more with every exhale.
Imagine that you're just a passenger of the breath.
The breath is taking you on its own winding journey
through the hills of the rising inhales and valleys of the falling exhales.
The breaths might be full and deep, they might be shallow.
If it's fast let it be fast, if it's slow let it be slow.
You can completely let go.
If you notice your mind thinking about something
just bring your focus back to the journey of the breath.
There's nothing you need to do, no where you need to be,
no problems you need to solve.
Just enjoy the feeling of letting your body take over.
Let go and completely relax.
Notice the breath climb, rise and swell and fall and rest back down
in its own rhythm, in its own way.
If it pauses let it rest as the air gently flows in and out
through your body.
Imagine your body is gently carrying you on the breath.
You can completely rest, just enjoy the feeling of letting your body take over.
Let go and completely relax.
Notice a deep stillness unbroken beneath the rise and the fall
of the inhales and exhales as your body continues to breathe
without you needing to do anything.
Allow yourself to become more and more aware of the deep stillness beneath the breath.
With each breath feel yourself let go more and more completely.
Let go into this nurturing stillness beneath the breath.
I'm going to give you some time to just rest here.
I'll be back when it's time to return.
Enjoy resting in this stillness.
When you're ready to return bring your focus into your body.
Become aware of the surface you're on.
Feel your weight on the surface beneath you.
Take some deep breaths and notice how you feel.
Notice how your body feels.
Whenever you're ready open your eyes, wiggle your fingers, your toes.
Have a gentle stretch and give yourself a big thank you for taking this time.
Enjoy the rest of your day.
