Lesson 15 of free B1 German language course explains Plusquamperfect. This free lesson explains the German grammar topic, its sentence structure and examples explained in an easy way. This is also the continuity of lesson 14 with a difference that Nebensatz is placed and Hauptsatz is placed afterwards. The Plusquamperfekt (past perfect) in German is used to describe an action that took place before another action in the past. It's similar to the past perfect tense in English, where you would say "had done," "had gone," etc. he Plusquamperfekt is composed of two parts:
The simple past (Präteritum) form of the auxiliary verb: either haben (to have) or sein (to be). The past participle (Partizip II) of the main verb. When to use "haben" or "sein": "haben" is used for most verbs, especially transitive verbs (verbs that take a direct object). "sein" is used with verbs that denote movement or a change of state (e.g., "gehen" (to go), "sterben" (to die), "aufwachen" (to wake up)).
Assalam-o-Alaikum and welcome to Germany for students channel. Today is German language course B1 level lesson number 15.
In lesson number 15, we will continue the topic of plus, com, perfect.
And in this, we were looking at the conjunction nachname till now.
Today we will look at the conjunction of this nachname in a different way.
There will be some revision in today's lesson.
Last lesson was lesson number 14.
And we will learn some new things in today's lesson.
So, let's start today's lesson.
Using the conjunction of nachname in plus, com, perfect, we can describe two events in the past.
Now, to describe these two events, we need two sentences.
One sentence is called Hauptsatz.
One sentence is called Nebensatz.
In today's lesson, we will put Nebensatz on the first position.
And we will put Hauptsatz after that.
And we will see how the sentence structure changes.
We will start Nebensatz with the nachname.
After that, we will use the preteritum form of the helping verb.
We have seen this preteritum form in the lesson number 14.
Other than that, we will use the participle form of the main verb.
We will see its sentence structure in the next slide.
Now, we will see the sentence structure of Nebensatz in detail.
We will start Nebensatz with the nachname.
After that, we will use the verb.
After the verb, we will use the object.
Instead of object, we can use preposition and adjectives.
After that, we will use the participle form of the main verb.
And on the last position of Nebensatz, we will use the zein or haben verb.
We will use the preteritum form of this verb.
And we will conjugate it according to the subject of Nebensatz.
After that, we will start Hobsatz with a comma.

In this, you can never use the present tense in Hobsatz.
Now, we will see some examples.

Now, there are two events here.
The first event is that he came home.
