Last year Nihon TV showed the premier of the new event Female comedian No.1 Championships....THE W AKB members had 13 units enter however... I'm disappointed All of them were eliminated by the end of the 2nd round And then this year I've really put a lot into this This is not a game A total of 18 AKB member units have entered this contest and they're looking to beat out 600 other female comedians And with that we have THE W contestants here with us But for Suda-san it wouldn't seem out of character to see her enter this contest I'll do whatever! Just give me a chance! that's the type of person I am but this contest really isn't something you do on a whim I didn't enter because I wasn't confident inside I thought to be able to amuse people being forced to create something entertaining is enormous pressure You knew what it was going to take Pushing aside that pressure are these members going on THE W....and we're going behind the scenes Up first domo! I'm YuiYui I'm Yui-han We are YuiYui-han onegaishimasu General Director Yokoyama Yui and young ace Oguri Yui Oguri centered Teacher Teacher and currently she's been selected to appear in dramas and plays furthermore she's an active model General Director Yokoyama beginning with her solo concert not to mention her dramas and variety appearances she's active in a wide range of activities As idols these 2 have had smooth sailing so why would they take on the world of comedy? "If there's a chance out there then take it" that's something we've all learned Whether I'm suited for comedy or not...that's not for me to decide the audience will make that decision Saying "That's not for me" and not doing it by doing that I'll have put a limit on myself Does she think she's on Jonetsu Tairiku right now? For me entering this contest like what's going to happen...what will the fans think of this? I personally had a hard time deciding Taking challenges I believe is something necessary for the current AKB this is not a game Whatever it is take it on with all you've got with those thoughts in mind, these 2 are leaping outside of their comfort zone What kind of gag will they take on? We're doing manzai manzai YuiYui will act stupid and I'll add the wisecracks YuiYui has been in AKB for 5 years and I've been here 10 years so I'm not jealous of YuiYui but there will be some deep envy coming from me Things you can't say on TV I'm going to throw those things out there Somehow it sounds like a manzai routine where she says what's on her mind the difficult part of all this is... Lets do some manzai I'd like to start a cake shop.... Are you listening to your senpai That point where you interrupt....where you come in What's up with their relationship!? The timing right Yes an essential part of manzai is handling the timing Basically it takes a lot of practice to get the timing right however I'm worried we won't be able to match up well And within AKB these are 2 of the busiest They're unable to match schedules to get practice time So then each of them practices over and over alone Recently Oguri-chan has been full of herself probably because she's been AKB center Must be nice... I don't care about your stupid cake shop! Without their partner there, its hard to tell if the timing will fit Since we won't get to see how it goes together For each of us which parts are we going to be able to do correctly? Its difficult for these 2 to find time to practice together so what kind of performance will they give us? Next we're going to look in on this person creating a gag AKB48s Taiwan international member Ma Chia-Ling On last years THE W DOSSOI~ DOSSOI~ Anyone here have a favorite letter? ko ko? Komanechi She asked the audience to shout out a letter and she'd reply with a funny japanese phrase starting with that letter I think I'm gonna cry Unfortunately she was eliminated in the 1st round Last year there really was a lot of disappointment so I'd like to make it farther She's seeking payback...what gag will she take on? Its this This time using kabuki I'll make jokes using kabuki I'll ask the crowd what prefecture they're from and then I'll make a joke about their prefecture [Kumamoto] They overwork Kumamon! [ Ibaraki ] Is it Ibaraki or Ibaragi? just shut up! She's going to make jokes about the image of the 47 prefectures kabuki style however she still doesn't like how it looks Compared to the videos I've seen....the mood and the movements are all wrong Doing the entire gag kabuki style is kind of scary so I think I'll try to find more japanese traditional art forms And with that she asks the members for some other traditional forms she could use storytelling eh maybe traditional japanese dance That's Koume Dayu As she walks around gathering information there seem to be members who have a misunderstanding of traditional arts How about like Bakatono-san? eh? kanji? hiragana? baka is in katakana, tono is in kanji [ Baka is katakana, tono is kanji - by Kubo Satone ] juggling! Its traditional japanese art [ Juggling is a traditional japanese art form - by Miyazaki Miho ] Now she'll try making jokes using what she learned from the members [ Karate style ] [ Ninja style ] Too much beef tongue and wheat [ Mikoshi style ] Too much beef tongue and wheat wasshoi~ [ ParaPara style ] Too much beef tongue and wheat~ And with that she's come up with 3 art forms to use when delivering jokes However another problem arises I can't think of all the jokes for this gag Yes...she has to think of a joke for all 47 prefectures so here she goes to the members for more information So this gag I'd like to ask you about it For Chiba you could say peanuts are falling or something huh? What are rakkasei? Those are peanuts why is that? [ Unable to have a conversation ] She finished it off getting jokes from friends, putting all she has into this gag My japanese still isn't there yet since I can't speak fluently and I don't know too much about japan so many people helped to create this gag and also gave me a lot of advice its like I'm not fighting this one alone I'd like to carry those feelings when I walk out on stage Will she make it past the 1st round will she have her revenge this year? All 47 prefectures That's a real challenge This one was much more difficult than last years I'm from Fukui, I wonder if she has a joke about Fukui How about Fukui? Echizen crab is delicious but those bumps on its shell Super creepy! [ Gas station attendant style ] That's funny And then there's one more person seeking revenge from last year Team 8 Hama Sayuna Paw! paw Last year 6 Team 8 members took the challenge and were eliminated in the 1st round Regarding THE W....Hama still carries these thoughts Its the reason I've made so many appearances on AKBINGO! its all thanks to THE W female comedian contest That contest really changed my life and that's no exaggeration For me The W is something I owe a debt of gratitude I knew I had to enter this contest Because of THE W she got more appearances on AKBINGO! and that has led to more job opportunities However...how come she's going solo this year? I invited a lot of members to join me but I got rejected a lot I'm going solo as a last resort They all turned you down? That's right...I invited Yoshikawa Nanase to join me Hey wait...she's a contestant on The W What's that about? She looks like she's going to bomb.... [ Smells like danger ] But we're really good friends [ Consolation? ] In the end Hama is going solo...she has this concern Since I've been in that contest before I know what those cold stares feel like I'm worried that I won't be able to overcome all that by myself Please laugh a little more! Yes...among the members that tried it last time they know it won't be easy to get a laugh they know the fear of standing in front of harsh judges Many of them gave up on this years contest That's a pressure I don't want to experience again In the dressing room I was with other comedians and it was a completely different atmosphere compared to normal and the mood on stage was completely different from the usual that's why I backed out this year The anxiety is setting in Going solo is going to cause anxiety so who does she rely on? My father is helping me think of a gag Yes, her father On tour he usually thinks of gags for me Actually Hama's father writes gags for Team 8s live shows Is that true? With my father helping out with the gag it gives me a sense of relief And the gag that Hama and her father came up with I think we're going with a self-deprecating gag I think I'm pretty good at self-deprecating Right away she starts making flip card props with her father That letter is all wrong eh...that works That should be a horizontal line Its just an added nuance If you squint it looks that way...hey! Rewrite! That's not what I wanted to hear rewrite! [ Little brother ] I didn't think my father would go this far to help me out I know he's super busy at work but he's still helping me He commutes from his house in Shiga to Tokyo he wants to give his daughter the strength to keep fighting as an idol With those thoughts in mind, the father lends his support to creating a gag I don't want to think about my father's joke bombing so I'm thinking about the words and the delivery I'll do my best...I want to take this on however For idols...some of them work....ah some idols even work weekends That was terrible The pressure of performing alone causes her to forget her lines That's true...have to do it all alone The words came to me but I couldn't say them and then moshi moshi moshi moshi....hai hai I need some advice hai hai I get nervous and forget my lines At the very start think "here's the line here's the line"...write it on your hand The person she goes to for advice...as we thought its her father Since it is comedy the most important thing is to make the audience laugh don't worry about it and go out there with a smile and I think you'll be just fine and then just believe in yourself and have a good time with it Please give it your best hai~ That really put me at ease hearing that Hama and her father working together as one can she get past the 1st round? I want to make it where Shibuya Nagisa is the first person people mention That's who I want to become so Looking to take control of the post Yamamoto Sayaka era she's creating a gag alone and then ah Yuuri-tan ohayo ah ohayo gozaimasu I'm thinking of a gag for THE W ehhh ganbatte...here use this Its R-1 oh the trauma~ I totally bombed it last year Actually last year Shibuya performed on R-1 Grand Prix and advanced all the way to the 3rd round however in the 3rd round she bombed horribly and it became a source of trauma ahh~ oishii That's oishii?! And then Nagi-chan oh Rina-chan YAH-HO I've brought something to help you Enough of that! No more! here take this Come on! After that...in usual Kansai fashion she was overwhelmed with R-1 drinks by the NMB members oishii! That's oishii?! What did you do on R-1 that bombed? It was like political commentary [ You do those!? ] When I did that it was pitch black in front of me and I couldn't hear anything It was like being alone in outer space Too nervous or something But it became a good workout for my heart It made you stronger Keep drinking that R-1 and your intestines will become stronger Shibuya with all that courage from that past performance once we visit her days afterwards... sumimasen gomennasai Truly sorry Shibuya-san this shoot was scheduled for 9:00 wasn't it? sumimasen...what time is it? Well he's going to help me..he's a writer NMB shows as well as being the brains behind Yasei Bakudan she reached out to showbiz writer Terauchi-san and requested his assistance This time the gag Shibuya thought of is a skit as an employee of a cellphone store Do you think this joke is weak? That one is kind of hard to understand Because you're doing this solo the audience has to form their own wisecracks internally If everyone in the audience is thinking differently they won't all laugh together Going solo without anyone making wisecracks she has to make her acts of stupidity easy to understand Its really hard doing this solo Solo acts are hard What will the gag she put everything into look like!?
