Nikita STAROSTIN (GER) | Men Short Program | ISU World Championships | Boston 2025 | #FigureSkating

Taking us next and representing Germany, here is Nikita Starostin. So to get us underway, the 22-year-old from Germany. He's the three-time, or in fact two-time, German national champion, Nikita Starostin. Yeah, just about scrambles through that triple axel. Here's the flip. Ah, hand down on the combination. Both parts look clean though. Yeah, really energetic program there from Nikita. Love the choreography program put together by Adam Solja. Works in Antwerp with Jorik Hendricks. Germany, Nikita Starostin. Yeah, really great effort. Wonder whether that will be enough. The base value of the program not as much as some of the ones we've seen so far. He needed to be pretty much faultless, didn't he? Absolutely, and he did fight all the way through. He didn't let anything go. He's been awarded a level four for the step sequence, which we know is not easy to achieve. And really fought through these jumping passes. They are being reviewed. Let's take a look. Fully committed to the character. Okay, here stepping into the triple axel. Did a little bit of a weird step forward. He steps and then does a repress. It's bizarre, but it seems to work for him. He squeaks it out. In the system is fully rotated with a reduction in the grade of execution. Here, triple flip. Arms over his head. Though an exclamation point from the technical panel. Triple Lutz. Free leg takes a while to get back. And triple toe. I wonder if he knew he was that flexible. Yeah, he did well, didn't he? Because he didn't have a great running edge coming out of the Lutz. To get the triple toe out took an awful lot of energy, I would have thought. And he was fighting. He's trying to get every point. He's trying to qualify for this free program. He's doing everything that he can. Okay, well the levels on the spins are going to really help him. And that level four in the step sequence is going to help. It's 70.72. It is a season's best. He's had as high as 75.78. It is sixth place at the moment for Nikita.
