Hi everybody, it's Shashana with Action
News's fitness tip. I'm at the AB
apartments in King of Pressia. Let's get
to work on the hamstrings and the
glutes. And what I love about this
particular exercise that I do very
often, especially with my personal
training clients that might have some
knee issues that maybe can't lunge or
can't squat, right? Everybody sometimes
has a little bit of ailments there or a
previous injury. This targets your
hamstrings and your glutes without
putting any pressure on the knees. You
want to see it? Let's get to work. I'm
tucking this weight right behind my left
knee first. Doesn't matter which leg you
start with. That's your choice. I'm
going to start with my left and we're
going to get into a tabletop position.
Right? So, one thing is for sure. I
don't want to see your back arch and I
don't want to see it round either.
Right? So, we want to have a neutral
neck and spine. I retract my shoulders
down. Strong in the arms. My arms are
always straight and I'm going to keep my
core engaged the whole time. So, we're
just going to float this left leg up,
right? And I want you to get it high
enough to where you feel your hamstring
and your glute contract. And then we're
going to just bring it down to the
ground and we're going to go out to the
side into a hydrant where we target our
outer glutes as well. And back down. So,
we lift and lower to the side and back
down. So, we're keeping our core
engaged. Really focus on hugging that
weight, bringing that heel close to your
booty here. 15 on the left, 15 on the
right. This is an exercise that
literally anybody can do. And guess
what? You can even do it with just body
weight. If you're a beginner, it's
perfectly fine to just do this with body
weight, right? So, we want a little bit
of an increase in reps, right? 15 three
different times. So, three sets of 15 on
each side. And you want to make sure
you're choosing a weight if you are
using a weight that is substantial that
when you're doing after maybe five or
six reps, you're really starting to feel
that muscle work, that's your that's
your that's your weight. That's the one
you got to choose. Okay. So, we want to
challenge ourselves. This is a great
exercise that I do often, my clients do
often. It's the best and it, you know,
makes everything tighter and stronger.
It's a win-win. Give it a try today.
