This video has been really quite
difficult for me to edit.
Suddenly, 2 days before we were due to
go back to the UK, a stranger turned up
in our village. That morning, as we ate
our breakfast, we had decided that for
this video, we would film an ordinary
day here in rural Spain. But just an
hour or so after we filmed the intro, we
met the stranger.
Hello again.
>> Welcome back to Spain.
>> And welcome back to our channel. What a
gorgeous day it is here in Spain. And
>> yeah, and look at that.
>> We were back in our scruffy clothes just
going in and out of the house and this
dog appeared. We'd never seen him
before.
Don't recognize you.
[Music]
>> Hey,
what's your name? You're a dog puppet,
aren't you?
Whoop! Sorry. Sorry. That was Sorry.
That was my bug clunking.
Hello. It's lovely to meet you.
I don't know.
Oh,
>> he's very shy, aren't you?
>> He's shy, but very friendly, isn't he?
>> Yeah. Extremely.
>> Yes. You're lovely. You are, aren't you?
Yeah.
>> I hope we see you again.
>> You're all right, sweetie.
>> Hey, where have you turned up from then?
E.
>> Has he got a collar on? Did you say
>> No, but he's got a mark on his neck
where he used to have a collar on.
>> Oh,
>> and it looks like he was rubbing cuz
he's took his fur off around there.
>> So,
where have you escaped from, young
dogger? Hey.
[Music]
Yes. Right then. Well, I think we better
go inside.
Yeah. It's lovely to meet you. Yes, it
is. Yes. See you again another time.
Hope so. Anyway, before we go any
further, we want to update you about the
land situation. Our house in the UK is
for sale, but so far because we haven't
got a buyer just yet. We can't buy any
more land here at the moment. Well,
after we met the dog, we carried on with
our plans for the day. We had arranged
to meet our friend Anna, who I chatted
to in our Christmas video.
We were meeting her in her hometown of
Kalispara in Muria.
Before we met up with her, we went to
the market.
[Music]
Give me.
[Music]
>> Who needs oranges when you've got
massive cakes?
[Music]
Then we found Anna and went back to her
house for a coffee, but this time she
didn't want to be filmed, which of
course is perfectly all right.
When we got home, the dog was outside.
Never have I seen a dog so happy to have
a dog in the bread.
>> What's the matter?
Hey,
>> after we got changed again, we led him
around the corner to the stream to make
sure he knew where he could find water.
Let's go up there.
What's about here?
Can you No, that's a bit far. Come up
here then. Look.
>> What? Oh,
very good.
[Music]
Well, that's good. We looked like you
needed that drink, didn't you? Hey,
>> that better.
[Applause]
So, this is the old village wash house.
Yes. It's nice and cool here, isn't it?
Yeah.
>> What if I turned it into the old village
watch the dog house?
>> Oh, no. You thought you couldn't pick
him up.
That would really scare him, wouldn't
it?
Yeah. It's nice in here, isn't it? Nice
and cool. Look, it is. Hello.
[Applause]
That evening, we decided to drive around
the corner to go for a walk. We realized
we had unintentionally been encouraging
dog to stay in the village. Perhaps if
we hadn't fed him and had chewed him
away, he might have gone back to where
he came from. But as we walked, we
searched what the rules were for taking
a dog back to the UK from Spain because
the truth was the dog had taken hold of
our hearts. But it wasn't good news.
So the dog needs to be vaccinated and
microchipped.
21 days after that, you would have to
come back and you'd be given an animal
health certificate.
Then you have to get tapeworm treatment
and leave within 5 days of that.
So it wasn't good news.
Tomorrow was our last full day in Spain,
Saturday.
The day after we had to get up early.
Rob was taking me to the airport because
I was starting work on Monday in a 4 day
a week job. Rob was driving the car home
and then he was also back at work on
Wednesday morning.
After our walk, we found dog and we led
him over to Miguel's house. He was a bit
cheeky really, but we knew that Miguel
loved dogs and we thought he might agree
to feed him.
[Music]
The next morning, we got up and started
to sort the house out.
[Music]
We washed our sheets and emptied the
fridge.
[Music]
This little dog is going to think he's
died and gone to heaven
cuz he suddenly appeared in the village.
And I bought a meat pie yesterday from
deer.
That was 30% off cuz it's used by today.
So it is lucky day.
You think it is nice?
>> I should think it is. Well, I know it
was nice.
>> It was very nice yesterday, wasn't it?
>> Yeah. What a gentle dog.
[Music]
>> Oh yeah, me old knees.
[Music]
Gone, mate.
Oh, very gentle, aren't you?
>> He's such a little dog, isn't he?
[Music]
>> I'll take him and show him where the
chap that's going to feed him lives.
>> He already knows cuz he was outside his
house yesterday.
>> Oh, very good.
>> Yeah.
Okay. Who are they? We also went to see
Elena, another of our neighbors.
Okay. Wow. Look at this. So, the other
day then I saw Elena in the village and
she said, "Do you want to come and look
at this ramp, Joe? I've been trying to
sell it on social media. I think you
will really like it." Because um she's
been here a couple of times, more than
that actually. and she is the lady that
got the lovely curtain typical of
Castile Castile Lancha for us. Now we
have a typical curtain from Castile
Lancha in our cottage in Castile Lancha.
And so she said, "Joe, would you like to
buy this lamp?" And it's been in her
house. So her house is probably actually
a bit older than ours and it actually
hung in her house. So then what do you
think Rob? I know I've just sprung this
on you really because you weren't here
>> and it needs I need to get the wires
replaced instead of it.
>> Okay.
>> Old.
>> All right. So that's a shame then
because h I was hoping that we could get
that hung up before we went home.
Never mind.
So, what about
>> Yeah.
[Music]
>> Okay. So, I mean, that is a lamp that's
come from like a large living room or
something.
>> And this is just a little humble, rustic
um kitchen diner. But we need a we need
lamps because we've only got bare light
lamp lamp shades. And so one day we
might be able to do something with that.
>> Yeah, definitely.
[Music]
So how does our story end? or rather how
does it end so far?
The truth is we fell in love with the
dog
and we found it so difficult
to leave him here in Spain.
[Music]
If Rob could have gotten him vaccinated
on the way home.
I think we would have done.
[Music]
But if we'd taken him home, he would
have had 9 weeks
of being in the house on his own on the
days when me and Rob were both at work.
He would have had a 2 and 1/2 day car
journey with someone he'd only known for
two days.
[Music]
He would have had to have stayed in
hotels overnight.
How would he have coped with that? And
would it have been the best thing for
him?
[Music]
Miguel has agreed to feed him, which is
brilliant. But as we're so far away,
there's no way we can really know how
dog will be.
[Music]
[Music]
By the time this video comes out, it
will be 3 weeks until we're back in
Spain again.
So, I will promise you one thing.
The next video we are releasing is about
Rob's journey back from Spain.
[Music]
But after that, the very first thing we
upload on this channel will be a short
telling you how dog is.
