Hi everybody, it's Shasha with Action
News's fitness tip. I'm at the AB
apartments in King of Prussia. Today's
fitness tip is all about the core. I
know, I know, I know, listen, nobody
likes to do a plank. I understand that.
But planking is essential in trying to
strengthen your core, right? And this is
something that you can literally do
anywhere. No equipment, just you. Ready?
Let's do it together. So, we're going to
get into a high plank. And just to let
you know, this exercise is done slowly
with control, with breathing in through
the nose, out through the mouth, and
while keeping your core engaged the
entire time, okay? I never want you to
feel it in your lower back. Making sure
that you are using proper form is super
important. With that said, you ready to
go? Let's do this. Let's keep our body
moving. Popping those knees up. High
plank. We're going to float this right
leg up. I point my toes and I lift my
right leg all the way up to the ceiling.
Hips lift. Leg lifts. Then I pull that
right knee to my right elbow. Then I
take that same knee to my left elbow.
Not done. Not touching the floor. We're
going back to the right. And then we
float back up into a bird dog. So we
come down. Inhale. Exhale. Just
breathing. Taking our time. Really
focusing on core engagement. and
breathing. Right? I love this exercise
because is it challenging? Yes, of
course. It wouldn't be a Shashana
fitness tip without a challenging
exercise, right? But it is effective and
it really allows you to move at a slow
pace with control. And that's the beauty
of it. What we do on the right side, we
do on the left side. How many do we do?
We'll start with just trying to get 10
and then maybe go up to 12 on each side,
right? It's about progress. It's not
about perfection, but listening to your
body and remembering that no matter
what, movement is medicine. And this is
a great move to try it.
