Assalam-o-Alaikum and welcome to Germany for student channel
Today we will discuss a general topic in a German language course
Today's lesson is about German Adjectives and Nouns
If your current level is A2 or B1
then you must have seen many nouns in German language
whose ending is with height or kite
Is there any rule for this?
Or we can put height at the end of any noun
Today we will try to understand this rule
So let's start today's lesson
Before starting nouns, we will look at adjectives
Because if we understand adjectives properly
and identify their patterns
then it will be easier for us to make nouns
Here I have written some adjectives
We will see their meaning in a while
But now we will identify their patterns
So this is a category of nouns which ends with le-ha
Now we see that there is another category of nouns
which ends with srm
So this is another category
The third category of nouns ends with e-ge
We will see the meaning of all these nouns in a while
But now we are categorizing them
So that it will be easier for us to apply rules on them
In their pronunciation, you can use shin and ik at the end
Like
Both pronunciations are correct
Next category ends with bar
Like
And we also have a category of nouns
on which we can't apply any pattern
Like
Their endings are different
So they don't belong to any category
Now we will see all these categories one by one
And see which category we can apply which rule
So that we can convert these adjectives into nouns
So the first category is le-se-ha
All adjectives which ends with le-se-ha
When we make nouns from them
Then we have to simply add kite at the end of the adjective
And the noun will be ready
For example
The first adjective we had was Freundlich
Which means friendship
If we want to make a noun from it
Then we will simply add kite at the end of Freundlich
And it will be Freundlichkeit
Friendship
Let's see further nouns which ends with le-se-ha
We had an example
Hoflisch
Hoflisch means polite
Now we have to keep one thing in mind
All adjectives will start with small letters
And we know that all nouns start with capital letters in German
And all nouns which ends with height or kite
Will be feminine nouns
Their definite article will be d
Let's see next example
Engslisch means hofzada or fearful
And Engslischkeit will be hof
This is also a feminine noun
Its article will be d
Herzlisch
Herzlisch means heart
Its ending is also with le-se-ha
So when we want to make a noun from it
Then it will be Herzlischkeit
And Herzlischkeit will also be a feminine noun
Because its ending is also with kite
Next
Nouns which ends with i-g or e-g
All nouns which ends with e-g
For them also when we want to make nouns
Then we simply add kite
Then we get noun from adjectives
Like we have a noun
Schwierig or schwierig
Which means difficult
Then we have Notwendisch
Notwendisch means necessary
And D-Notwendischkeit
Zuroorat
This is also a feminine noun
Its article will be d
Lebendisch
Lebendisch means alive heart
And to make a noun from it
We have to add kite at the end of Lebendisch
Then this noun will be D-Lebendischkeit
Next example
Eindeutisch
Eindeutisch means clear
Like my opinion is very clear
Its ending is also with i-g
To make a noun from it
We have to start it with capital letter
And at the end of it we have to add kite
Then it will be D-Eindeutischkeit
Next we have a group
In which adjective ends with bar
All adjectives which ends with bar
If we have to make a noun from it
Then we have to simply add kite at the end of it
Like dankbar
Shukarguzar
D-Dankbarkeit
Shukarguzari
Someone being thankful
Next example
Sichtbar
Something which can be seen
To make a noun from it
We have to add kite at the end of Sichtbar
Then this noun will be D-Sichtbarkeit
Next example
S-bar
Something which can be eaten
D-S-barkeit
Next example
Machbar
Machbar means doable
Something which can be done
This work can be done
Or this work can't be done
Or this work can be done in one hour
Or it can't be done
When we have to make a noun from it
Then we have to add kite at the end of it
This will be D-Machbarkeit
Next category we had
Was of such adjectives
Whose ending is with zam
S-A-M
Such nouns whose ending is with zam
Like we have example of langzam
Langzam means slowly
So when we have to make a noun from it
Then we have to simply add kite at the end of the adjective
So langzam will be langzamkeit
Because this noun's ending is with kite
So its article will be D
Further examples of this category
Virkzam
Virkzam means effective
For example of a medicine
Is it effective or not
If we have to make a noun from it
Then it will be D-Virkzamkeit
Next example
Shparzam
Shparzam means economical
Or kafaitshar
So when we have to make a noun from it
Then we have to simply add kite at the end of it
Kafaitshari
D-Shparzamkeit
Next example is
Aufmerksam
If any person is Aufmerksam
Then it means he is listening to you with attention
D-Aufmerksamkeit
Attention
Or attention
So Aufmerksam means attentive
Or Aufmerksamkeit
Attention
We had four categories of adjectives
When we have to make a noun from it
Then we add kite at the end of the adjective
Now we had some adjectives
In which we couldn't see any clear pattern
For example
Foul
Gesund
Zischer
War
These are all nouns
In which we couldn't see any pattern
So when we have to make a noun from such adjectives
Then we add kite at the end of it
Foul
Foulheit
Foul means lazy
Gesund
Gesund means healthy
D-Gesundheit
Healthy or healthy
Zischer
Safe
Or safe
And noun from it will be
D-Zischerheit
Which means safety
War
Truth
D-Warheit
Truth
It is not necessary that
In all such adjectives
In which there is no pattern
When we have to make a noun from it
Then height will come at the end of it
You will get some such adjectives
Like we saw these four examples
In which we have to add height at the end of it
But there are many such adjectives
In which there is no pattern
When we have to make a noun from it
Then we don't have to add height at the end of it
The way to make a noun from it will be different
In every rule of German language
There are some exceptions
As I have listed two exceptions here
Zauber is an adjective
Which is not following any pattern
But when we have to make a noun from it
Then we have to add kite
Although we have learned that
Such four patterns
If they are coming in adjectives
Like L-I-C-H
I-G
Bar
or S-A-M
Then when we have to make a noun from an adjective
We have to add kite
But Zauber is an exception
Which is not following any pattern
But still we have to add kite at the end of it
When we have to make a noun from it
The second exception is Hungrisch
Hungrisch means hungry
Ich bin hungrisch
I am hungry
The ending of this adjective is with I-G
The ending of other adjectives was with I-G
When we made a noun from it
Then we added kite
But Hungrisch is an exception
When we have to make a noun from it
Then its noun will be
Der Hunger
Hunger
Now let's come to the homework
Here I have written some adjectives
You have to make a noun from it
And tell in the comment
How to make a noun from it
First is
Deutlisch
Grausam
Denkbaar
and Einsam
So these are four adjectives
You have to make a noun from it
I hope that you have got a basic understanding from today's lesson
How we can categorize adjectives
And on that category
Which rule we can apply
To make nouns
See you again in the next lesson
With a new topic
