>> Yeah, Rick, just a devastating day for
the whole neighborhood. Take a look at
what's left behind of this middle home
destroyed by the fire. Crews found the
victim on the second floor. Neighbors we
spoke to say the mother of three has
lived here for decades and she was a
leader in their community.
>> I just can't believe it. I mean, this is
just a tragic thing for, you know, the
whole community.
>> A family and neighborhood are grieving
together after losing their matriarch in
a house fire in Philadelphia's Logan
section. Family and friends say the
victim is 70-year-old Denise Green. She
loved to party, dance. We all said that.
We had block parties. She was our block
captain. We all like, like I said, we
were all family. I mean, [clears throat]
when I ran into her son, he broke down
in my arms. Couldn't believe it.
>> The Philadelphia Fire Department says
intense flames tore through three row
homes on the 5700 block of North Lambert
Street after 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
>> That fire,
>> it was crazy. I've never seen anything
like it. Firefighters face some
challenges due to the frigid
temperatures.
>> We have freezing hose lines. Uh our
members get uh fatigued due to the the
the cold uh weather.
>> After hours of searching, firefighters
found Green on the second floor of her
house. I I couldn't begin to imagine
not being able to get out or have help.
She was she was a good person. She was
always smiling. Officials say the two
neighboring homes are uninhabitable. The
American Red Cross is providing
emergency support for 12 people
affected, including financial assistance
and health services.
>> I feel sorry for them, too. And you
know, this stuff, you know, when it
happens, it's always bad. But to happen
around the holidays and stuff like that,
it makes it even worse. So, you know, my
my heart goes out to everybody.
>> And you may be able to see some of the
damage on the neighboring homes. Those
residents say they're staying with loved
ones or in a hotel. As for Green's
house, officials will be back out here
tomorrow to investigate and determine
just how that fire started. Live in
