Police say a man boarded a United Airlines flight with a fake boarding pass.
ABC's Jacqueline Lee has more on how this incident is putting authorities on high alert.
A significant security breach at Houston's Bush Intercontinental Airport.
A man with a fake boarding pass successfully boarding United Flight 469 to Los Angeles,
according to police. 25-year-old Abdul Rahman Oryami is now facing a felony charge.
According to this criminal complaint, Oryami was able to get past TSA the morning of May 18,
despite his cancelled flight reservation, his boarding pass appearing to be a forgery.
Police allege he approaches a gate and tries twice to scan a fake boarding pass, but fails.
More than an hour later, he allegedly approaches another gate,
walks past busy United gate agents and boards the flight.
The charging documents say Oryami hid in the plane's restroom as it taxied to the runway
and wasn't detected until a passenger notified the crew.
Once the crew realized he wasn't booked on the flight, the plane returned to the gate.
And this is one of several recent incidents where a stowaway successfully boarded a flight.
In February, Svetlana Daly bypassed security at Newark Liberty International,
snuck onto a United flight and flew to Milan, Italy, where she was later detained by authorities.
And in November 2024, Daly blended in with a crowd at Newark Liberty International
and boarded a Delta flight to Paris without a ticket, passport or travel visa.
When that Houston plane returned to the gate, the suspect was met by police officers, the FBI
and explosive detection canine unit. The flight delayed for three hours.
The suspect appears in court on Monday. Jacqueline Lee, ABC News, Los Angeles.
