Mikkel Lauridsen is a Copenhagen-based photographer, born in 1977.

In Mikkel's own words: "Photography has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. I still recall the scent of chemicals and the atmosphere in my father's darkroom. However, it wasn’t until the digital age that I truly began to take photography seriously. It became a healthy alternative to writing, a practice that had grown too introspective and self-absorbed. With my camera, I am part of reality – I can influence and manipulate it – yet I remain at a respectful distance.

There is a certain joy in capturing a beautiful landscape or architectural detail, but nothing compares to the ecstatic feeling that fills me when a portrait comes out just right. I am also deeply drawn to self-portraiture, as I learn something new every time I take one. When I create self-portraits, it is a process free from stress or haste. I have all the time in the world to experiment with lighting and setup, and I can spend an extraordinary amount of time refining the light and perfecting the edit. It’s not unusual for me to have several versions of the same shot.

I hope you will receive my photographs well – a careful blend of the projects I am most passionate about within the art of photography."
