The operational commander of the Polish Armed Forces, General Ireneusz Nowak, suggested that the Tu-95MS strategic bomber crashed in Russia that same day could have been the same aircraft that launched the Kh-101 cruise missile that crashed in the Lublin Voivodeship on July 30. The Polish general published his statement on the social media platform X, commenting on the news of the Russian missile carrier's crash in the Amur Region. Analysts noted that Nowak rarely makes public statements, so the very fact that he made the comment seems telling.

In his post on the social network X, Novak wrote that "it's possible this example was the carrier of the X-101 that ended its flight near Tarnawa." The post was a response to a report of a bomber crash, first shared by a social media user. The aircraft in question crashed on takeoff on September 29 during a training flight.

"It is possible that this example was the carrier of the X-101 that ended its flight near Tarnawa," wrote the operational commander of the Polish Armed Forces, Ireneusz Nowak. And this was hardly an isolated episode, as Russian strikes have repeatedly approached Poland’s border, including attacks around the Yahodyn border crossing. Recently, a Russian Mi-Eight helicopter entered Polish territory from Kaliningrad, penetrating approximately three hundred meters and remaining inside Polish airspace for forty-two seconds before turning back. Poland’s military explicitly described the incident as another Russian attempt to test its air defenses, with fighter jets consequently scrambled during Russian attacks on western Ukraine. However, Russia’s pressure on Poland has extended beyond the airspace.

A fire damaged the power infrastructure and backup generator of a Starlink ground station in central Poland supporting connectivity that extends into Ukraine. Polish Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski called the incident sabotage designed to disrupt communications, especially targeting the connectivity used by the Ukrainian military. Polish authorities have not identified the perpetrators responsible yet, although they place the incident within the pattern of hybrid warfare Poland faces from Russia.

Analysts monitoring statements from the Polish military command noted that Nowak rarely comments publicly on events, so this announcement attracted particular attention. They added that the downing of the Russian missile carrier "may have been accidental—or perhaps not at all," not ruling out the possibility of deliberate destruction or technical sabotage. As a result, Warsaw’s response is now becoming substantially harder, and beginning in October, Poland is changing its air-defense procedures so hostile aerial objects will no longer necessarily require visual identification before engagement. Instead, commanders can rely on combined information including radar tracks, trajectory, speed, restricted-airspace penetration, and identification data with the straightforward purpose of reducing the time between detecting a potentially hostile object and authorizing its destruction.

A Tu-95MS strategic bomber-missile carrier crashed on September 29, near the village of Krasnoyarovo in Russia's Amur Region. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the aircraft was on a training flight and was in the air without ammunition. There were seven crew members on board; six were killed, and another was injured and taken to the hospital. The cause of the crash has not been officially determined; a commission from the Aerospace Forces has been dispatched to the scene to investigate.

Russia regularly uses these types of aircraft to launch cruise missiles at Ukrainian territory, including Kh-101 missiles. Nowak's theory about the possible connection of a specific aircraft with the incident in Poland remains speculative, and has not been officially confirmed by either Poland or Russia.
