We are treading lightly after a week of curveballs! Our family is preparing for spooky season and getting the fresh air we need. Peter and James have a date at the Magic Kingdom. How about that throwback footage? You'll also see time at Disney Springs, Saratoga Springs, and home preparing for Peter's procedure. Thankfully it went well and everything was clear!
Hi! We are Peter, Sarah, James, Teddy, Charlie, and George and we live in Orlando, Florida. Our cute little puppy’s name is Eve. Together we strive to find the extraordinary in ordinary life.
This weekly family vlog captures the balance of stay-at-home motherhood, the joy of simple traditions, and the emotional relief of a health scare. From organizing daily routines and celebrating the start of October with DIY decorations to a special father-son trip to Magic Kingdom, the video emphasizes finding magic in the \"extraordinary ordinary\" moments of family life.
Good morning.
Weekly vlog.
I hope you enjoy today's video.
It's not melting outside, so we are...
There's coffee in the morning.
No!
Baby's even out here.
There's rain.
Aw.
It was an accident, Teddy.
It's wet.
Here, try it on my shirt.
Alrighty.
I'm at the gym and Peter had the music, so when I got in the car, I listened to the radio.
And I would have missed out on a little Irish Goo Goo Dolls jam session, hit or not.
So thank you, Peter, for having the music, and also your reminder to listen to the radio.
I just feel like it's something that I used to only do before auxiliary chords and such,
and it's such a good way, for me at least, and perhaps if you have a loved one on the
other side, to have...
For my parents to show up through songs on the radio, I just feel like that's one of
the key ways that I have connected with them.
So your reminder.
Comment below if you end up listening to the radio today.
What?
Look at those ducks.
I was all excited to see Thanksgiving stuff, and I haven't got Christmas.
We are at BJ's, just me and the Middle East, for a little adventure.
We are at Disney Springs now.
We're just getting out of the house.
If you watched last week's vlog, you'll know we had a weird week.
And so Fresh Air was calling us.
This used to be Sprinkles, and now it's Jiri Deli!
Yes!
In real time, I'm finding this out.
Holy smokes!
I had no idea that Sprinkles was becoming a Jiri Deli.
And naive me actually checked to see if they were giving out free samples.
And we have made it to our destination.
Oh!
Okay, we are treading lightly with our first outing post-illness.
So, Dollar Tree it is.
They look like a happy family.
Should I look at them over here?
Let's get out of here.
So this is what we're actually here for.
Finding them online, they're going to be like $20.
And I find this is such a good way to keep the kitchen really festive
throughout the whole month of October.
And this is really nice tablecloth.
I just have to pick out the pattern I want.
They have these at Walmart too.
But I wanted to check out their selection this year
because last year we kept it up the whole month.
It's called Piva, the Wipe Clean Tablecloths.
If you have watched Bluey before, you will know Branda Santa.
That's what they're playing.
It's a great game because when you're not Santa, you get to pretend you're sleeping.
Happy Monday.
My postpartum hair is doing its thing, so don't mind that.
Mondays, usually, and I think I might have said this before,
but every week is a little different.
I try for Mondays to be really low-key, be a reset,
unless we absolutely have to.
It helps me mentally over the weekend,
given my job is to be a stay-at-home mom.
That job never stops.
Over the weekend, of course, Peter is here.
That brings me so, so much relief.
It's just totally different with it being teamwork.
Even during the week, Peter and I's teamwork is probably one of our biggest strengths as humans.
But anyways, Mondays are hard.
I really like for my Mondays to be reset days.
I try to get the toys in a better place.
I try to just lay out what we have to do for the week.
I have this little, what's this called?
My race board.
I lay out on here who's doing drop-offs,
any appointments we have,
and what we're having for dinner.
We actually have a lot of appointments this week.
We'll talk more about that later.
The baby's down for his first nap.
I'm going to fill this out and kind of just baseline Monday reset.
That's the expectation for the day.
Where are we going, James?
This way.
But what park?
We're going Magic Kingdom.
You're right.
What ride are we going to go on?
Buzz!
Yeah, and we're going to get some...
What?
Ice cream.
Yeah!
Do you like Daddy Dix?
Yes, but it's hot.
I know, we'll get some ice cream to cool off.
Okay.
Do you got water?
I do have water right here in this water bottle.
I'm so excited to be going on this daddy date with you.
Yes!
Should we go monorail or boat?
Um, monorail.
Yeah!
Okay, James wanted to start the night off with two simple asks.
Buzz Lightyear and Strawberry Frozen Lemon Cups.
Not in that order.
Actually, in the reverse order.
He wanted a Lemon Cups first,
Strawberry,
and then Buzz Lightyear.
Lines aren't looking terrible,
but we are 0 for 2
in looking for the Strawberry Frozen Cups.
But, a cast member gave me a little heads up,
it might be the one off the Jungle Cruise,
and once they said that, I was like,
you know what, I think that's true.
I think that's real.
I feel like I remember doing this before,
because that's James' go-to dessert.
Here we are.
Jungle Cruise.
Carts.
We've got the Strawberry Frozen Cups.
Success.
I don't think I've ever gotten a frozen banana
for my own self.
This is gonna be good.
How's the frozen strawberry?
Good.
Are you in a rocking chair, James?
You know, Mommy and Daddy used to sit here
all the time,
waiting for you guys to show up,
like the elephants in I Wish.
Oh!
Now...
This is some kind of feeling right here.
This is lemon.
Yeah.
And you got me.
Yeah, I do got you.
It makes me so happy.
You said you wish come true.
Yeah, you and your brothers are a wish.
You said, I want to have a baby
with Nick James.
Yes, and Teddy.
And then it would rain,
and it would rain,
and he'd come back.
Wow, is this a good time?
I think so.
Sometimes I don't trust wait times.
This says 45,
but the line's not outside.
You like this ride, James?
Yes!
So we'll see where the line actually starts.
It's always a good sign
when the line's not outside the hallway.
But where
does it truly begin?
Still don't see anybody.
Still...
Ooh, okay.
30 minute wait for Peter Pan's flight.
We will take it.
Take seatbelts,
and off we go!
Woohoo!
Wendy, no!
Yay, they won.
As we got in line for Winnie the Pooh,
thinking we were going to
win all the prizes,
Winnie the Pooh went down.
And Winnie the Pooh is usually a quick one to come back,
but I was waiting, waiting, waiting.
We waited like five minutes, and I saw some coordinators come out.
They were giving like fast passes out
to clear out the queue, so we were at the end,
so we just, we filed out.
The waits aren't bad elsewhere.
Plus, it's just, it's a daddy date,
so we're just having some vibes and conversations
and hanging out, so.
We are going to go to Buzz and see how long that line is
by the time we get there.
If it's not bad, we'll do it.
If it is, we'll do a people mover.
For it not to be swelteringly humid,
feels good.
We are heading into Star Command now.
25 minute wait for Buzz Lightyear.
I've only been on this one version,
new updated version once,
so I'm not going to vlog it,
because I want to try to get Galactic Hero
on this new version, because I failed
miserably last time.
Astro Aviator,
Cosmic Commando.
Alright, we're getting there, James.
High five, good job.
You won, babe, you won.
We won, we both won.
We won together.
Fun fact, one of James' favorite rides,
Marlin Speedway.
And it's a
less than five minute wait.
We call that a walk-on.
Well, it is not.
Every day we do these daddy dates,
especially in this busy, busy, busy
season of life, but these kids are only little
for this season of life,
so we were going to go home, and James said,
what about Dumbo?
And I just
can't say no.
So, we're going to run to the restroom.
I'm going to try to delay it
a little bit, because we are ten minutes away from fireworks
and five minute Dumbo time.
But that would be kind of cool
to be on Dumbo with James
during the fireworks.
That's magical.
So,
I'm kind of dragging my feet a little bit.
The popcorn stand right here closed down.
I was going to get a pretzel
or something, you know.
A little munchy munch.
But, we are going to do it.
And then we're going to head home
after Dumbo.
He's just getting so old.
He's my big kid this way.
I've never worked attractions,
but nobody's been in the standby line for a while,
and I thought Dumbo was just closed down.
But I think that's because nobody's in line.
They're just not running. I would have just thought
they would have continued running it empty, but I guess not.
But,
five minute timer
for Happily Ever After.
I think fireworks are going to
start in just
seconds now.
Seconds.
Can it go off?
Yes, it can.
James, we couldn't have
timed it more perfectly.
The fireworks are starting.
Woo!
Do you hear it?
Happily Ever After.
We're about to do it.
Oh my gosh.
The cast member when we were walking in was like,
wait, first ride?
And she was like, congratulations!
Right this way, Mom and Dad.
Can you believe it?
I truly can.
I really can.
That's because he's a sleepy kid.
His eyes are open now.
Here you go!
James, you're on your first ride!
Yay!
Come on, Jamesy.
Wow, I don't know if this has ever
happened so smoothly.
We walked out, walked right
onto the ferry without stopping, and James
requested the second floor.
And because we don't have a stroller, we can't.
Fireworks still going off.
We were on
Dumbo and the fireworks started.
Fireworks are still going on and we are on the ferry.
This is pretty great.
Perfect way to end a
Daddy Jamesy day.
Happy Tuesday.
We started our day
at Saratoga Springs.
We actually
hung out for a bit in the lobby
and saw the horses and watched Mickey
shorts and then
we went around the shop
and just followed Charlie around.
We ate snacks and Georgie had a bottle
and we colored
and it was such a nice morning.
We bopped around the resort
until I had an
eye doctor appointment and everything went
well so we didn't have
a ton of time
but just enough to go to a
local Once Upon a Child. We went to
Spirit of Halloween.
We need to get some clothes for our trip.
But anyways, ever since
I found that Pokemon sweatshirt
for James
and Teddy, of course, expressed
that he wanted one, I have just
been on the lookout.
That is my goal.
At least before the trip.
My turn.
What you doing Daddy?
Just about to drink some prep for
EGD and colonoscopy
tomorrow.
So what's the deal?
I don't know.
The deal is
I have to tell you the whole history because
we weren't vlogging really.
I've had a weird side pain
for
like 18 months.
It started like
We went through like 5-6 months of
getting CT scans, MRI,
x-rays.
They thought it was a bit of
intersecession. I got an ultrasound.
I was
set to have a colonoscopy and EGD last
year but the pain went away last October.
And so I cancelled all that.
And I promised Sarah if it came back that
we would 100% no matter what get all those things done.
Well about 6 months ago the pain came back.
Yeah I can hold you.
About 6 months ago all the pain came back.
So now we are. Here's the day.
Tomorrow. It is.
Ready?
1, 2,
3. I love you Daddy.
I love you Daddy.
Everybody was asleep.
But now everyone woke up.
So I don't know the last time I vlogged this week.
It's been a week but you know what?
We're doing a good job.
We are doing the next right thing.
But me and the two littles
are here to get Peter
from his procedure.
We had an early drop off.
And then
had to get the kids ready for school.
School drop off. And now we're back.
Woah.
Is that a good sign or a bad sign?
So from where we are you can see the
hot air balloon at Disney Springs.
We're closer.
Like we're really close to SeaWorld right here.
Also I looked it up.
One girl is a bad sign.
However,
I went to go take a picture of it and it disappeared.
But then I saw another one.
And then I saw the other one
came back around the corner.
So there was two.
First there was one and then there was two.
So I'm going to take it as a good sign.
Because we have to take
the bad signs with the good signs.
You can't just believe in the good.
But we saw two.
I was nervous for a second.
Woah. From this side
you can see
Volcano Bay.
Some Whole Foods fun.
Pretend like we're in the city after my procedure.
That went
swimmingly.
Thanks.
Standard biopsies were taken but nothing was found.
So we are appreciated
after this 18 month journey.
Nothing makes me want to move back to
the city this second.
Been strolling the Whole Foods.
Getting a cute little
snack lunch.
With a baby and a carrier on me.
It's the best.
Just the vibes and the energy
feels very city like.
And I'm here for it.
Also very thankful that this procedure finally
happened after 18 months and that it all
looks clear.
Here's our little Whole Foods haul
of snacks. This is a Gouda dip.
We got a little
sun dried tomato
situation.
And hot bar, falafel,
dolmas and mac and cheese.
Hello. I'm here
editing the vlog and
wanted to pop in and just
see how you are liking
the What We Had For Dinner This Week
edition
that we've been sharing. It's a little different
than anything we've really
done, especially with my
Cook With Me's. And so basically I'm
asking if you
would like to see more of
the food or
maybe if you're interested
in something I share
comment below and maybe
I'll do a Cook With Me
if enough people
seem interested or ask
for a particular meal. I don't know.
It's just kind of different. And I want to say
I've been enjoying still sharing
even if it doesn't mean
full force
step by step. But I would be
happy to share more
if you want. So the food
this week, we actually,
Saturday we were still like getting
on our feet after we were like sick
thought we were all good
and then we weren't.
So Saturday was a little
like I honestly think we ate peanut butter and jelly.
So this food
starts on Sunday.
We had steak and
egg bowls with
beans and potatoes
and then on Monday we
had leftover red sauce.
I made like a little parmarosa sauce on
pasta. Then we had the same exact
thing Tuesday and Wednesday. I don't know if I'm going to have
enough time to say what it is. It's like ground
chicken, loaded potato
with corn salsa, avocado
tomato. There it is.
And ended Friday with steak
sandwiches. I realized
I did not show Thursday.
We had our like typical
Friday, Friday
McDonald's on Thursday.
Peter was doing his prep
and just wanted to make things as
simple as possible the night before his procedure.
So I did forget to show that. So another
week of meals.
Honestly last week with all the appointments
what we needed to keep it simple
but I've actually
followed this account on TikTok
who gives a lot of inspiration
for whole food meals
and that's where my brain is at right now.
So that's what I hope to share
and again comment below
if you are interested
too
and maybe there will be some
more food content coming soon.
Good job Emma
making our kids lives very special.
So we follow
a YouTube account called Darling
Desi and she
last year did like a kickoff to fall.
I don't know if it was even last year.
We found her channel.
She loves the seasons
and we
like the idea that she had where it was
like October 1st.
I don't even know if she's married
to her partner or not.
They like exchanged little
gifts and they like had a full day
of like going to get festive
drinks.
They lived close enough
to Salem right where like
they were able to make
a day there. We happen
to live in a very festive place.
So last year we went to like the celebration
pumpkin patch
and got drinks and so we our very first
year we did it was last year and
it's nice because it's super simple.
We haven't
we don't exchange gifts
but we just got these
fun things to make tomorrow
extra special. I like doing it
at like the first October weekend
so we can really enjoy the day but maybe
sometime it'll be October 1st
but I like it for
our family and I like we're doing it
a second year.
Yeah. So we're going to sign
off for this week's vlog right now
but it's nice to show the
setup of what we have going on
and then in the next vlog you'll see
our fun kickoff
day to October. So we're gonna
let them put the window clings up
and then last year we ended with
making like fun
popcorn with like
extra festive treats. I'll probably even put
like chocolate chips
but we have puff popcorn
for the little ones and then the
tablecloth they'll be able to color
here's the final
setup
here. We added
some bats
over here and over there and I
want them to like tell me
where they want more bats.
What was the vlog this week?
I'm very proud of the setup.
I'm very proud of it too. You should be very proud.
Well I also want to say that it's all
like streamers again
construction paper like
when did you make that?
The construction paper when you were out on a run
but yeah
it looks really fancy but like
humble means
and I think it's like the perfect
first grade
90's first grade Halloween. Like a 90's
first grade teacher made that. And also
just like making
life special with like
you don't need
all the bells and whistles all the time.
Funny is our plan was to go to Epcot in the first thing
in the morning and now we think we're switching on for a couple
reasons but one of them being like our kids are going to be too excited
for that. Just a weird reflection
of our life of like our children are going to be too excited
for that and our fun
extraordinary ordinary Halloween
to go to experimental
prototype community of tomorrow.
The most like
like what is the
I don't even know what this statistic
Statistics. The criminals
from the statistics.
The criminals from the statistics.
Walt Disney World
is a sought after
vacation destination. Yeah.
In the world. Yeah.
It's good to be home.
We know what our goals are.
We know what we hope to accomplish.
And believe me
it's the most exciting and challenging
assignment we've ever tackled
at Walt Disney Productions.
