Water advisory for parts of Atlanta
and the metro remains in effect this morning.
This follows a water supply interruption
at the Chattahoochee Water Treatment Plant.
Crews have been finishing repairs on that line that feeds the plant,
but work is still underway to fix
a 30-inch water main that also busted.
Well, you decide 2026.
Early voting starts today in a little less than an hour.
Georgians will begin heading to the polls
to cast their ballots in several statewide races
with the election for governor at the top of mind for many voters.
Good morning, Caitlin Pratt is live in DeKalb County.
with a closer look for us. Caitlin, good morning.
Hi, good morning. Yes. Okay, so usually we see
people, right, lining up to wait in line for tickets to a show,
things of that nature. No,
people were lined up behind me here at the library
in Tucker to go inside for this very first day of
voting. I asked them what was on their mind.
They say just the cost of everything. Big Jackson.
Atlanta, the first stop on a statewide tour Monday
for Republican Rick Jackson.
The election is a clear choice.
We're going to build on Brian Kemp's legacy and take Georgia
to the next level. Democratic opponent Keisha Lance Bottoms taking
the stage in Stockbridge.
This is about getting out the vote.
This is about encouraging people to show up
and vote early. Don't wait until election day.
The race for Georgia governor is now
entering a critical stretch.
Polls suggest a close contest ahead. The candidates have
spent months trying to win over Georgia voters.
Now the challenge, getting them to the polls.
I want to remind people that in 2018,
21 votes per precinct on average made the difference between the winner
and loser in the governor's race.
Just 21 votes per precinct.
So for anybody who believes that their vote doesn't count,
they should look back at those numbers.
In 2018, every vote matters, and it's the reason
that we want voices to be heard and reflected through votes.
The two candidates are offering different approaches
to some of the state's biggest issues.
Jackson campaigning on cutting taxes, lowering costs,
building on Governor Brian Kemp's record.
Bottoms focusing on expanding access to health care,
investing in education, making housing
more affordable. Both promising to address the rising cost of living,
an issue front and center
for many Georgia voters.
So again, polls open first day of early voting will be open until
seven o'clock tonight and every day
for the next three weeks until October 30th. And then as for
actual election day. That falls on a Tuesday, November 3rd.
That's the latest here live in
DeKalb County this morning. I'm Kaitlin Pratt for Good Day Atlanta.
All right, Kaitlin, thank you so
much. And other statewide races
on the ballot include Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General,
Secretary of State, Public Service Commission,
U.S. Senate, and State School Superintendent,
along with races for Agriculture, Insurance, and Labor Commissioners.
Looking ahead, President
Trump will hold a midterm rally here in North Georgia on Friday.
That rally is happening at
Dalton Municipal Airport. The GOP says the rally will start
at 1:30 p.m. and we do expect President
Trump to take the stage at around 3.
The Trump 47 committee will host that rally and it's unclear
at this point who else will speak
or if any Republican candidates will be there. Joanne?
